I was really sad to miss the Journey to Silius underground theme, so I figured that I might as well do it now. A small ensemble piece.

In 3

Been forever since I entered. Saw the extension and fiddled with the source theme's pedal jumps and the horn fanfare's melody for a solid 13 second loop.

Side by Side

What's that? Take the most uncomplicated part of the piece and make it into a generic poppish-love song? I shall try to oblige.

And I will follow you into the light as it shines by my side
We shall end this evil blight and clear the places where monsters hide
Without fear, when you're near: I can't possibly lose
We're fighting
We're smiting
Side by side

And you will stay by me as we both carry on to victory
As they run and turn to flee, we'll strike down all our enemies
Without fear when you're near: I can't possibly lose
We're fighting
We're kiting
Side by side

Crowform Snowstorm

A downgrade from the last time I covered JJ2. Mostly a cover with some added notes, melodic and harmonic additions.
Not included: drums that deviate from the original's groove: proper mixing and balancing.

Pit Stop

Due to a fire alarm taking 50 minutes from my songmaking time, this is a ludicrously short loop. It's meant to be a bit reminiscent of NES era racing games.

Due to fast approaching deadlines and guilt over poor vocals, Edgeworth tries to sing himself to sleep.

I remixed only Dl-6 due to time constraints. My apologies for messy vocals.

So yeah, the title sounds badass, but it's not much. Just glad to have a work DAW again.
Also, no love for JH's source? I'm going to fix that right quick.

This arrangement uses the arpeggios from Winglancer and the melody from the Wolfduck stage. Some of it sounds a little wonky and soft, but y'all can deal with that right?

So, yeah 35 minutes of fun recording time. Horrible a cappella for all!
Hopefully it doesn't hurt your ears too badly.

Mild Cold Boogie

posted in PRC176 on Aug 23, 2010
Not really a boogie, but I added a couple of harmonies and flourishes. Didn't really have enough time to really add jazz harmonies like I wanted, but there's a decent amount fun to be had here.

Staring out from your lonely prison you see the stars and a narrow chance for escape. It's a shame you're too stupid to execute any cool plans.

Fight Like an Egyptian

Game: Mega Man 4
Song: Pharaoh Man Theme
Genre: Electronica
Requested by The Biznut

I had a lot of fun making this, even if it isn't terribly interprative of the source tune. I'm trying to get better with drums, but they remain the weakest part of my skills. I liked Mega Man 4, and while the Pharaoh Man theme is not my favorite, this arrangement is a fun tromp through some of the games of my youth.
Thanks Biznut- Enjoy

This is to make up for missing so many PRCs that I wanted to enter. I believe it was Setokaibarocket that chose the source for a previous PRC that I had some ideas for but never found time.
Source: Hocus Pocus Title

Hopefully whoever requested this source has fun listening to my brush up of it.

Quartet of Bears

You walk through the forest and happen upon a classically trained string quartet formed only of bears. Then one of them is eaten by a wandering pianist.

Well, I had a lot of fun doing this one. I think it's one of my better interpretations.
The title came from the 'plot' of the game, in which Jay is told by his father's floppy disks how to fulfill the space colony plans.

Happy music for happy shoppers. Thank you and have a nice day.
Also, try our melons, they're better than your girlfriend's.

Grit's Village

I used both themes in creating this. There are 3 parts where the themes overlap. Can you find them?

Also: Everything besides the drums sounded better in the initial midi. I need to start composing for my samples, rather than for the General Midi soundbank :(

Droll Stroll

posted in PRC126 on Aug 11, 2008
So, I went to bed, but couldn't sleep because I was thinking about something that I needed to do, but hadn't already.
Then I realized that I hadn't made an entry for the competition yet and ran to my computer, tripping over my cat. So, I have the 'crash' part down.
Not really feeling the source in any manner, so half of this sounds slapped together and half-arsed. Hopefully somebody will at least enjoy it.
Once again, I have no time for mastering if I want any sleep at all. Good night folks.

Angel Land

posted in PRC125 on Jul 27, 2008
This sounded better as a MIDi, unfortunately.
The pads, and light airy leads were supposed to give it an angelic feeling. However, without mastering it ended up sounding more cluttered than anything else.

Wasted Effort

posted in PRC123 on Jun 28, 2008
Because that's what this is...
Original title was going to be Bomb-omnomnom, but the results aren't worth the awesome pun. Even more minimalist piano than J64's arrangement. Oneshot take, and suckage.

Just Coal

Once again, I jump from the darkness with a less than shiny entry.
It features only 1/2 of the drums I had planned on programming.
Anyways, hope your ears can stand it.

Totally Ordinary Cottage

posted in PRC120 on May 16, 2008
Definitely nothing out of the ordinary here.
It would be unlike me to miss 3 PRCs in a row, so I scrapped together a robotic piano player. He doesn't know about things like humanization, or velocity switching, but he's programmed to love what he does.

posted in PRC112 on Jan 26, 2008
There's this one synth that I love in this piece. It's all non-melodic and sort of percussive. I bet everyone else hates it. But this is decently fast paced, sort of pick me up music. I got a bit lazy with stuff about 1/4 of the way through because of how I rushed to get in for the deadline. Anyways, hope you enjoy it.

Mountain Climbing

This started out as a slowish avante garde-esque piano piece. I got a little lazy half-way through. Also, bask in it's almost complete lack of humanization!

Suicide Cave

Seriously, don't listen to this with headphones. It will hurt your brain. In fact, doing that with normal speakers will do so as well. You have been warned.
I don't like this source at all, so I made the worst possible arrangement of it, with the worst mastering I could muster. I hope you hate it. It's full of way too many echoes, clipping, and some random wailing.

I just noticed that there was nothing submitted like... 4 and half hours from the deadline, so here is a little quick mix.

Pocketsized Circuit

I'd just like to say that this piece was very hard to work with, so as such, my interpretation doesn't fall far from the original.

Clumsy Thieves

The tokay, (who inhabit Crescent Isle) like to have stuff. The problem is, there are few things on the island of any worth. When you show up there, most of your stuff is taken by these somewhat bumbling creatures. Naturally, they're not very good at concealing their act, as each one has the stolen item proudly elevated above their heads.
This mix was made in about an hour on Monday. I really had hoped to find time to revise it, but had no free time in which to do so. There are some dissonances and random little chromatic sweeps meant to symbolize tripping and other occurrences which frustrate an inexperience purloiner.

The Biotonic Scale

posted in PRC96 on Jun 17, 2007
Yes, I know it's not even a good pun for a title. But I refuse the quality of my work to be judged by the quality of my puns. This mix is laid back with lots of bass. I finally got my laptop hooked up to some speakers with actual bass, so I probably got excited and abused it. As always, have fun listening.

Fluffy Flight

Just a little short, cheerful rearrangement of the source. Rearrangement is heavy, so the source is a little hard to hear, but it is in there.
Unfortunately turning it from an M4A to an MP3 unbalanced some things, but so it goes, eh?
