Chickenwarlord - I like the beginning samples. But there's no variation in the samples, the song is all the same. Try to variate more next time. The ending is the same as the rest of it.
DZComposer - Nice beginning, it's really quiet. This is very good. I don't like the silence in the middle of the song, but the switch to the next part is good. Some parts are just too quiet, for the other sections it's a good song.
Hylian Lemon - Nice intro and nice beat. I don't like the way you end that beat around 0:45. The next section is great, I like the middle section and the voices and game samples (?) are funny. The part around 3:00 is too loud compared to the other sections. The last part is a bit boring and the ending is too long.
Nutritious - Calm intro, calm middle, calm ending. Everything is almost the same. But, it's good.

Nutritious: Some very interesting rhythms past the halfway mark. Very relaxing, if not terribly egaging throughout the whole piece.

Dzcomposer: Everything seems to be a little on the fast side, which would probably work in reality, but as you said, time constraints ending up making your brass on the muddy side (not like I could do any better). Some good rearrangement ideas in there, but not so many that the source was drowning in liberties. Good balance.

Hylian Lemon: That transition to the darker part of the piece makes it sound like you're ready to go into "rawrgh! Now I'm angry" mode. But it never happens with any sort of evil breakdown, or wicked drums to pick up the pace. Finally, by 2:35 you get to the place that was introduced over a minute ago. Then it dissipates in 25 seconds. The piece really doesn't seem to move away from what it was doing originally at all, despite all these dramatic cue changes.

It seems as though the melody was begging to be slowed down, considering 75% of entries did it.

I liked the chord structure of Good Night Racers. Also, no huge negatives jumped out at me. So, I'll place this one at #1.

I'll Blow your House Down was definitely an interesting concept. I like that it had direction, but the chord structure was a little weak (but not bad, I've seen much worse), and sometimes I felt that the bassline and drums were the center of attention when they shouldn't have been. But, all and all I liked it and it was a nice piece. So, #2 for this one.

Pocketsized Circuit was hard for me to listen to. Of the four, it was musically the weakest. The chord structure was very weak. There was no melody. No discernible variation, just constant arpeggios against a static bassline and a static beat with some weird metallic sounds thrown in every once in a while. Since I can't vote for myself, it goes in third.

Wow, this was a tough decision.

1st - Nutritious - Great production and arrangement on this one. It's really soothing. Well done, though a little short.

2nd - DZComposer - I really like the marchy sound of this. The percussion is cool. Still, the production could've been a little better.

3rd - Chickenwarlord - We gots us some usual Chickenwarlord wacky arrangement here. Nice. Interesting choice to stick with the supporting stuff. I do think you should have had a little more tunage to lead the remix; it feels a little wandery.

Yes, I enjoy making up words.

They all seemed fairly good in this contest, which made it a little more difficult to choose between them.

It seemed like Hylian Lemon's song had a lot going on in it, a lot of variations. So, that was my pick for first place.

Nutritious' song was good to listen to, kind of laid-back. That gets second.

DZComposer's mix seemed less simplistic than chickenwarlord's, so DZ gets third.

lemon - his song tells a nice story as usual. Too bad he copied my idea for using flutes on the melody with backing strings (just kidding, his came out first, HOWEVER, I didn't copy him either :). Good arrangement and fun soundscape created. Watch those flute samples - for some reason, some of the flute samples out there go way sharp on higher notes - so note pitch correction can be in order. Fun entry to listen to.

DZ - The arrangement is the strong point of this piece I think. It's adapted very well for a marching band type feel I think. What hurt it is sample quality here - not necessarily of what original sample are utilized, but how it sounds somewhat midi-ish in parts of the song. I'm guessing this is simply because he didn't have the time to tweak it as much as he wanted to.

Chicken - I like the electronic ideas and samples used here. I can definitely hear the backing stuff you went for, though I think it might be a little too far away from the original. You stated that you liked the backing chords more, which is cool. I guess when I was listening, I really wanted to hear the lead riff from the original make an appearance. Still, much better than my entry though!

Man, I can't believe how close the contest was! I might as well step in to vote and put a stop to the three way tie (hah, why can Chickenwarlord see this as well?).

I put DZComposer up into first place namely for a good balance of maintaining the source material and some good creative touches, namely within the transitions into the different movements and so forth. Even if he was pressurised when it came to the mixdown, I didn't find the track volumes to be much of an issue for most of the time; if anything some extra care could have been taken to the brass expressions, but either way it has all worked out.

Hylian Lemon gets my second place vote; actually it was pretty close between him and DZ, so there we go. Though I felt that he only just had the better production skill on him, the one thing that I felt about his mix were that the darker parts barely resembled the source tune as much as the lighter parts, which makes for a slightly liberal adaptation. I tell you one thing though, it fits the story; Ben, you should be a cue writer for online Flash movies :D

Nutritious gets the third place vote due to minimal exploration on the source material, though the genre shift made it sound sweet and pleasant to listen to. That makes a complete contrast to Chickenwarlord's entry, who also had mimimal arrangement and a genre shift to something not quite as bearable (!).
