This was an amazing round. Nearly every track here could've been first, had it been another regular OHC, but this was not your average compo.

For me, it was a fight between DDRKirby, InvisibleObserver and Suzu. All others were good, but didn't quite shine past these three.

Fuck, between those three, though, it's damn difficult.

I'm going to say InvisibleObserver, Suzumebachi and DDRKirby here, though. DDRKirby had an amazing track, but the soundscape was very centered, which mucked up the sound a bit. A nitpick, and I don't expect that much detail in a track in an hour, but it did hold it behind the other two, for me.

Suzu's track just hit me in a softspot with the damn chiptunage. I can't help but piss my pants whenever they're used like that, so he pretty much stole second from everyone. It was a bit short, though (well, compared to the 3 1/2 minute MONSTERS that submit onto here!).

Invisible Observer gets first from me - it just oozes with the theme, and the production & variety is unmatched. It also sounded like a beefed up version of Unreal's soundtrack, which I'll admit I'm a sucker for. I loved every bit of it.

  2. Facing the alien maze

  3. Age Old Question
    InvisibleObserver
DDRKirbyISQ - because it's flippin' good.
td244 - because it's also flippin good.
IvisibleObserver - because it's slightly less flippin good than the previous two.

Honorable mention:
Suzu - That's so 80s. Which i like.

  2. Crossing the Circuits

1st to Flik because I thought his percussion work and sound choice was really noteworthy; enough to be commended.

2nd to Suzumebachi for making awesomesauce.

3rd to InvisibleObserver because I can't seem to not vote for his stuff 9_9. also, PANNING. and, nice example of how to make song develop nicely without even using a bunch of different sound "sets".

1. Awesome haunting vocals. Bonus points for no autotune. Crappy background music. Still, awesome vocals though, so first place.

2. Nice moody electronica. Was really feeling that lead in the final third of the song. Just wish it had more melodic development and punchiness.

3. I liked when the beat came in (with no lead) at around 0:55. Didn't care for the main lead, but the other synths were nice.

I'm a sucker for good orchestrated music, and I think TD244's was not only well executed, but also fit the theme for this round's competition.

DDRKirby, I feel like the beginning of your song really fit the mood well, and the middle part was badass.

Prophecy, you usually win compo's hands down, but this week I don't feel like I was hearing your best effort; all you did was use a cheap effect and flesh out one of your old midi's. What you did still worked for this week's theme though, and overall execution was better than most of this week's entries.
