This is a toughie...

Trancemander - Great sound quality, though I think your ideas could have been expanded a little more if you had more time.

Tribal Silphs - Loved the interpretation, but the song was just too bland and didn't sound as polished.

Heroin Addict's Haunted Attic - I don't know what to say, man, besides "Can you say suckfest?" Ugh, you don't even deserve a vote from me, so you're not even going in my last place box. Get a life, for crying out loud.

Ok, now I feel better.

HAHA - Nice story, works well with the style =D
Trancemander - A little work and this could become quite a good track
Tribal Silphs - I liked the intro, but later on, the percussion kinda annoyed me a little

PRC97:
Nutritious - I like the intro, typical for a trance song. The middle part is good as well. The weakness of this song is the non-variation of it, it's the same tune played in different styles. I don't like the ending.
Hylian Lemon - Nice intro. There's enough variation. Some switches (between parts) are a bit weird, but the song is good. The ending is a bit boring.
Deductive Dave - The song starts way to slow, you better cut the first ten seconds and start then. The song is boring and has too many weird parts. The ending is not very interesting.

Hylian Lemon's piece had the most clear source relation, while still being rearranged. The weak point here was mastering on pretty much all instruments. Some volume levels could have easily been tweaked to make this better overall. This is also the only entry that seems finished.

Nutritious' is unfortunately short, which is about the exact opposite of what one wants when they're going for a trance style. There's quite a bit of dissonance with all the echoing. Not a bad start at all.

Deductive Dave's piece is crippled by some sort of filtering accident which mutes everything. I like the little allusions to the battle theme, but overall it never really goes anywhere, then ends.

Hylian's song just made me smile. It honestly made me think of the movie Monster House. Kind of creepy, but with a quirky cinema score-type feel. A good example, I think, is the feel he pulls off with the ascending chords from :45 to :49. Very impressive & creative use of the original.

Dave's mix was a very interesting take on the original. The chanting (I think) at the start sounded real lo fi, maybe it was just the processing on the original. I think it could've used more filling out and adaptation from the original.

Hylian Lemon's entry seemed to be the most well-arranged of the three, so that gets first place.

Nutritious doesn't do trance very well, but still gets second, because Deductive Dave's entry seemed too simplistic and short. But I suppose if you're doing it last minute ...

1st: HAHA is made of pure win. No further justification needed.
2nd: Trancemander gets second because it's my only other choice. But it's still pretty good. I love it when it gets into the main silph theme at 0:48

Hylian Lemon was just really good with getting my attention right off the bat. His synths were cool too. Deductive Dave might've been simple but his piece wasn't muddy like Nutritous' was.

First place EASILY had to go to Hylian Lemon given that I found it to be the more complete of the set. The idea of storytelling in a remix reminds me of an improved variant on Nario (sorry if I offended the latter), and even so I saw some good work with the composition side to make a firm start in remixing. Production can be worked upon in its own time, especially when working with a style like this, but I'm sure that this is a very promising start to HL's run on PRC.

In the second place squabble, I went with Deductive Dave's track mainly because it felt the more creative of the set. Nutritious's track felt more like a preview if anything; I felt he had the better production of the two however, but when that track was nothing more than a trance buildup, that's what can be a little bit worrying.

I hope this vote gets through okay. Well done for doing okay with PRC97, everyone.
