Wasn't sure whether I'd make it back in time for OHC so I did it beforehand. I used https://www.tiktok.com/@cam_steen/video/7161201621467155754 as a sample for my theme and tried to make some chill beats to go with it.

Not only is this a piece based off the images, but the title has a double meaning! I have sampled some of you guys entries throughout the past OHC's. There is 8 total samples all from different users. Can you spot them all? There is a lot of fun easter eggs to find! Have fun!
what good
is a gem out of the light?
what good
they can't see the way you shine
won't you let others
see your true colors
for a minute?
what good
is your shame this late at night?
you're good
know you're gonna be all right
make them believe
even if only for a minute
get them feeling fluorescent
when the lights are low
better let them know
who you are
you'll get them feeling fluorescent
cuz the lights are low
and you let them know
you're a star
baby you're a star
You may think the universe in contained in this little stone right here. The macro mirrored in the micro, that kinda stuff. But no, each small rock, each grain of sand is unique. And as such, it can't be the same as the entire universe. So each ray of light reflected in its surface is unequivocally one of a kind. Just like you.
Octatrack for midi sequencing
APC40 faders mapped to macros in Bitwig
All sounds are built-in bitwig instruments/effects
Only 3 tracks - Drums, Bass, Lead
Basically I wanted to simulate the scenes in Octatrack, but do it in a way that could have the perfect recall of a DAW, so I used the macros in bitwig to modulate various parameters across all 3 tracks. Each fader represents a 'scene' in the elektron sense of it.
It was a totally different workflow than anything I've ever done, and since it was all midi, everything is perfectly recorded unlike a usual hardware jam where it's all audio. The downside is that I spent most of the time mapping the modulators in Bitwig and much less time actually using the Octatrack.
diverse colorization
Used AI music site Riffusion, recorded with Audacity, and also normalized and faded with Audacity, and mastered with FL Studio. Might want to turn your bass down.
Been experimenting with some Game Boy Advance soundfonts, so this was done with instruments (?) from Sonic Advance 3, F-0 GP, and Mega Man Zero. Not the worst, I'd say.
well intentioned wankery gone less than ideal. Started as an attempt to poorly do 'hard rock' with a bass guitar and a six-string. Devolved into soundscape, but didn't have the dynamic flavor to keep things interesting for 6 minutes, so I folded it onto itself down to this just over 3 minute runtime. Was a good exercise in trying to recover from a series of poorly executed ideas. 100% sourced from recordings of two of my guitars with no synths.
Atmospheric and crystalline.
Decided to use this as a chance to work on a project I'm doing with Souperion. All Gameboy Advance soundfonts for a Mega Man style stage theme. Jump'n shoot them crystals.
Heart of land
Forged in heat
Our love lies forever
Under the rubble
With every flame
and every burst
My rock doesn’t falter
The heat forges everlasting crystal
I keep my rock strong
I keep my core going
I hold my face stoic
I bathe in your lava
I face all your vulcan
I bind all my geodes
I forge all my steel
In your everlasting sun
It's this, this is what it is.
