Up in the attic, you pick up something that brings back memories. You daydream of better times, what could have been, what should have been. Overwhelmed with regret, all you can do is collapse, close your eyes, place the item on the floor, and end.

Hopefully I can experiment more and try different things here ..

So, my thought process for this entry was as follows. The other day, I was listening to my old entries, and my very first entry was largely improvised, and it was LONG, and that isn't my approach at all anymore. But in retrospect, I kind of respected past me for just going for it. So for today, it's a 4 minute piano solo improvisation, which is longer than my other entries by far. I'm not saying it's any BETTER, or WORSE, than my other stuff, but it's undoubtedly longer. A lot of my recent stuff has been trying to emulate the 9bit style because I would love to improve in that regard and make that style of music well some day. However, today's entry is "experimental" for me because it's so different from my normal approach. It definitely meanders but I'm okay with it, I don't play piano anyway. [Perhaps I can think of it as somewhat of a tribute to 42 because I dig his stuff :D] I'm thankful for my wife, my family, and OHC.

This is my most recent entry in another competition, PRC.

I didn't realize there was only 12 hours left so I just mixed what I had.

I'm trying out Native Instruments "Razor" because I found a tutorial on MacProVideo. SHRUG.

I pictured a great huge impact, destroying the earth, and then the little bit at the end signifies hope and renewal and the restart of the world.

The first half isn't exciting, but the 2nd half is also not exciting.

This one is a little different. I guess that's a good thing. the study of change.

I referenced this one song, and I didn't actually intend to reference that one song, but in retrospect, it's quite fitting.

I'm still at work, brought my stuff with me. This is a straight export of the MIDI as I have no time to attempt to mix. I should probably go because the cleaning crew just got to my floor.

The first things I thought of for "Big Show" was, that Bounty Hunter TV show on Cowboy Bebop, and Super Mario Ragtime music. This is the result of that, plus the whole, still at work thing.

The first thing I thought of to tie these two together was the solo snare pattern, and for my own sake I'm happy that I was able to keep that idea (it's not often that I have an idea that I actually incorporate it into my final mix).

Glad to see some familiar faces pop up here, hope it's not a one time thing :D

I'm tired

It seems lately that I get on a roll with this compo and then I break the consistency by coming up with something kinda bleh. This is bleh.

Ever since I heard pH's new mix and the description of "Lullaby Pop Electronica," I couldn't get it out of my head. Remixer's block! I couldn't think of anything. BLEH!

It boggles my mind how I like this better, written in an hour, more than I like what I'm doing for another compo which I have a week to do. can't make the party, :'(

I started off again trying to use an LFO but I couldn't figure it out, so this came out instead.

I started with an attempt at electronic (as usual) but it quickly, quickly turned into a small percussion ensemble piece. Marimba, Vibes, Xylo, something called Puili Sticks, and Taiko. and cymbal.

I had fun with this one.

So in my head I had this crazy jazz arrangement with awesome piano solos and crazy rhythms and such but I have a long way to go before I can translate exactly what's in my head into my remixes. also I don't play piano

I don't think I set up the sidechain correctly. I still had a hard time hearing the bass drum amongst the bass.

I slowed it down a bit, and started with a rhythm on the bass and went from there.

PrototypeRaptor was an inspiration for this. To answer your questions: "Do parties make you happy? Can you let loose? Or do you never get invited? How do parties make you feel?"

This one was a challenge for me, similar to , all other OHC's and musical endeavors. There is no Balthazar.

I thought of FFXII and Raithwall. Orchestral Instruments. Tambourine, Cello, Viola, Violin, Orchestral Chimes, Anvils?. Should I have added more tambourine?

it is time to let go

The first thing I thought of was that I wanted to use an LFO but then I remembered I don't know how to use an LFO so this is what happened.

Most of my stuff is minimalistic, as is this one, because I can't think of much, just some things, then I repeat it, over, and over, and over again, much like my job and my life. This is minimalism, perhaps a little experimental, using orchestral instruments, throw in some Taiko why not.

I immediately thought of Marimba. added percussion. Vibes. things.

I wasn't familiar with the source at all, and I only listened to it partially a few times through today for the sake of time; hopefully I have enough of the source in here for it to be considered a remix :/

The source sounded pretty cool, and I definitely had that "hmm how do I remix this" kind of feeling again. I figured I'd start with upbeat drums, and just went from there.

This is my (insert adjective here) attempt at making electronic music. It's the first time I've tried using/incorporating an LFO other than for practice. I want to get better at making electronic music (and music in general).

I'm not sure why I've been gravitating towards orchestra tracks lately, but in the original track, I immediately thought of timpani for the repeating bass line and that's how this track got started.

The Tuba is eating everything.

I imagined some greedy bastard creeping along, being all greedy, and then, he starts dancing for some reason. Then I remembered Don Corneo from FF7. SHRUG.

about halfway I scrapped and started over. I just figured out how to use CC64 Sustain so I went very overboard.

I just finished Season 4 of Sons of Anarchy on Netflix, so this theme was pretty fitting. If only I was better at things.

Speed Slider remix - slowed it down. After a while, I wasn't sure if I retained enough of the source melody .. hopefully yes.

It was hard to get the ball rolling on this one, and I have rough drafts of BurstMan(1-5). This is #4. Piano as the lead instrument.

So I checked out the latest PRC and after reading it wrong and confusedly working on a Robocop 3 remix for a few hours, I came up with this. And thus I will continue the trend of everyone else ending their description with an exclamation mark. Or will I!

For the first half hour I was talking to my ex gf on the phone, eating McDonald's, and drinking beer. I wish I upgraded to large because I'm still hungry.

Piano, Celesta, Cello, Djembe. My music tends to always come out melancholic-sounding, and I'm not sure how else to describe it besides "Asian Temple"-sounding .. like, contemplating or something .. Maybe this could be an intro to a Chinese drama, or a peaceful entrance to an epic Martial Arts movie. It's always my lame attempt to emulate FF music ..

3 piano parts plus a bass drum

This one got unexpectedly experimental and strangely serendipitous, for me at least .. I think this is the most effort I've put into one of these and it's my weirdest yet B) Fun with SFX!

I just tried to figure out the notes of the repeating part and played with it, mostly rhythm-wise.

This is a wip I started a while ago, which I felt had a good start. I opened it up today, and all my flow and direction were gone. If I were better, this would be better. Everything, in terms of instrumentation, melodies, harmonies, .. I just had remixer's block all around. Also, I apparently tried to incorporate another track from the game in there, but I just don't remember what my thought process was .. Nice entries so far though, if you haven't played the game I highly recommend it!

I created this in about an hour. I think the part of this music composition that needs the most work is the "music" part.

I feel like the source track shouldn't have been hard to work with but for some reason it was .. My mixing knowledge is limited; my upgraded headphones came in and I actually put a lot of effort into the mixing--but sometimes I would listen to it and think "this doesn't sound right" and not know how to rectify it so it became guesswork .. but I'm working on it.

Times can get rough down here in the valley, but I choose to look up.
