I tried my new MIDI-keyboard (a real one this time) today.
It's more a concept. There was not enough time to build a main part. But I like the idea I had here
Somewhat inspired by that one Splatoon 3 singleplayer song, I tired to create a song with a verse and a chorus today.
I did not really have an idea so I tried something ragtimey. It's pretty short...
Another entry from the airport. Enjoy.
Greetings form the Chicago Airport. My flight was delayed so I had time to throw this together. Enjoy.
The inspiration today was Afterglow by Scandroid of the album Monochrome
I was inspired by music of Anno 1602 and Chicory: A colorful tale.
I wanted to try a slowly starting synthwave but that means unfortunately that there is no main part and ending :(
I don't have an intro today but an ending that I like. Usually it is the other way around...
I really had not really an idea to work with for this theme. But here is something.
Something orchestera today, inspired by "Decisive Battle" from Hollow Knight.
Well, the transition in the end is a bit rushed but I wanted that harp!
It ended up something completely different from what I intended but I like it. I wish I had more time to think about a more sophisticated ending though...
Today I was inspired by "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" by Daft Punk.
I got Spitfire Audio BBC Discover (or however that's called) so I tried an orchestral arrangement.
A calm piece that takes on speed. Slowly but surley grows the plant.
I tired something different today. The chords I found just let them self to this.
Today I expermineted with my old keyboard that cannot do midi, but I used a script I wrote (read: adapted some code from the internet and modified it for my use case) to try to recognize the note played from the audio input sent from the keyboard and then send a midi signal to my DAW. However, I can only determine the highest octave reliably, so I'm a bit limited. Would it be easier to buy a midi capable device? Absolutely. Would it be as much fun to get it working though?
Some 6/8 for the winter. I planned to use my old keyboard that cannot do midi as help today but I rarely needed it.
I really like the ending here.
The foundation sounds good, but I had no idea where to take it.
Can you hear the story I try to tell with the song?
Today something calm for a change.
Well I spent to much time on a arpeggio... But it's a nice song nontheless
Sorry for peeking. no time :(
I wanted to have a try at synthwave again. I discovered the PG-8X synth which I tried out for this entry.
I should have prepared for this, as I was fighting mostly against the technology, so I had to take what I could get (and so do you :P) This song is just me improvising on the piano on a (almost) one take. Due to technical difficulties I did not have time to postprocess the recording and somehow the recording was a bit flunky and had some problems. (some Effects that, granted, sound cool, were not on purpose. Don't know what caused it) And that's why you should test things before a compo...
I used a bit of the melody of "The Shrie" of the lord of the rings movies and tried different settings.
You never know what's hiding in the waters
The world is going to end. The clock is ticking...
Another try on something like synthwave.
Sorry for the bass poping in the beginning. I don't have time to fix this :(
A simple melody that resembles the majesty and peacefulness of a whale flying through the air.
Today I tried something a bit different. Last week I played a lot of "Chicory: A Colorful Tale". The soundtrack (composed by the fantastic Lena Raine) contains a lot of recorders. I remembered that we did have some recorders laying around somewhere, and thus started to play the recorder. So I was courious whether I would manage to arrange something and play it in this 90MC.
Sorry for peaking. I still need to figure out how to proberly record a recorder.
I didn't have time to record the whole harmony on the recorder so I left the chords in.
Inspired by Analog Sunrise by DDRKirby(ISQ) I wanted to try Synthwave myself. The last few days I tried to figure out how I can produce synthwave in my DAW and this is my first atempt.
Did not feel very creative today. So this is more like a background music for a cutscene/dialog in an old game.
I tried a VST today, but still sticking to presets.
I saw a video from 8-bit Music Theory today about Voicing and Voiceleading and I tired to use that knowledge for my background strings. I learned something today.
I got inspired by Ennio morricones "Al Capone" and tried to do a simmilar chord progression. But it took me 50 Minutes to figure out a chord progression that would work. I like the direction it takes but unfortunately I was too slow in figuring out those chords... There also was not much time to make a melody...
This time I tried to do an experimental ambiance-style song. How does it feel to stand in an old empty building in a completely white room?
Today I tried to make a call and response patteren with two instruments.
The song tries to capture the quietness that you feel when on sunday you eat your breakfast.
I still have to find out what instruments I actually have. I could probably have found a better one for the melody, but this is also quite nice.
I have no idea about what the topic is so I took the mirror as theme. And ended up with a song-palindrome.
It's art, I guess?
Probably a mistake...
Unfortunately I did not manage to get a better ending. Took me 45 min to even get an idea...
Inspired by the music of the game Unravel.
This is the first time I tried to record myself with the guitar. You can hear it in the background.
This is my first Entry. I tried to do something Chiptuney in Bosca Ceoil.
It's pretty short and generic. And I don't like the ending.
