They say you can fly with this.
It's currently Christmas Eve at the time of uploading, so i both followed the theme, while also adding a touch of X-Mas sparkle, because you know, i'm big into Christmas and all that. It's both festive, relaxing and also high energy, it's quite unique too, since everything except the pads, are in 3/4. I wanted to explore beautiful sounds in the most unique of places. I also added some voices from YouTube to sort of seal the deal in the land of Crystals. All in all, i really love what i've done here, very beautiful stuff, hope you do too.
Tried to channel aivi & surasshu's work on the Steven Universe soundtrack, using noise drums, piano, chirpy arps, and lots of 9ths and such.
This could have been better if I had actually been prepared for this style instead of trying to do it from memory on the spot! Maybe next time...
Yes. It's that song.
I don't know why seeing crystal formations make me think of twinkly high notes, but that's what we got here.
Wanted to write a piece with a limited number of generators and aimed to use the Dorian mode (didn't keep to that too hard). Got some nice feel changes in there, kept it pretty grounded. Spent too much time to write the bridge I wanted, ah well.
[Verse]
Life is full of crystals unworked
For jewelry needs a hand to take form
In the end, a piece to show off
Requires skill, a beauty is born
Many facets, sides to the story
Shining like the sun, sparkle on
Tougher than the most of its brethren
Lasts long after we are all gone
[Chorus]
Precious gems, diamonds are forever
Yes my friend, catch your eye, the light
and don't pretend, it won't dazzle
cuz it can impress, the shine can raise your smile again
[Verse]
Once my love had offered her hand
She showed to me a precious gold band
On its top the blinding white sheen
A gem that represents what we have
I said yes, and off to the races
It seemed quite unorthodox then
On her knee proposing for marriage
Me accepting right when she asked
Dex and Dex Mere reunion tour! (Created in frustration in Renoise on a nearly obsolete laptop.)
(Cover song of Answers by Nobuo Uematsu because crystals, also this is hard to sing and I'm sorry it's also not finished I couldn't get through the song)
I close my eyes, tell us why must we suffer
Release your hands, for your will drags us under
My legs grow tired, tell us where must we wander
How can we carry on if redemption's beyond us?
To all of my children in whom Life flows abundant
To all of my children to whom Death hath passed his judgement
The soul yearns for honor, and the flesh the hereafter
Look to those who walked before to lead those who walk after
Shining is the Land's light of justice
Ever flows the Land's well of purpose
Walk free, walk free, walk free, believe...
The Land is alive, so believe...

Sleep on
Now open your eyes while our plight is repeated
Still deaf to our cries, lost in hope we lie defeated
Our souls have been torn, and our bodies forsaken
Bearing sins of the past, for our future is taken
War born of strife, these trials persuade us not
(Feel what? Learn what?)
Words without sound, these lies betray our thoughts
Mired by a plague of doubt, the Land, she mourns
(See what? Hear what?)
Judgement binds all we hold to a memory of scorn
Tell us why, given Life, we are meant to die, helpless in our cries?

Thy Life is a riddle, to bear rapture and sorrow
To listen, to suffer, to entrust unto tomorrow
In one fleeting moment, from the Land doth life flow
Yet in one fleeting moment, for anew it doth grow
In the same fleeting moment
Thou must live
Die
And know
