We go together like OJ and toothpaste
yeah it leaves a weird aftertaste
but at least you feel alive
nothing about us really makes any sense to me
but there’s a certain intensity
that I can’t describe
I know that this isn’t flattery
but its like licking the top of a battery
I’m not sure i enjoy the pain
but i kinda want to do it again
yeah I kinda want to do it again
This isn’t the answer no, that much is obvious
I’m not oblivious
yet there’s something to gain
we are totally opposite to our perfect matches
but there’s an itch it scratches
like a moth to the flame
I know that this isn’t flattery
but its like licking the top of a battery
I’m not sure i enjoy the pain
but i kinda want to do it again
yeah I kinda want to do it again
yeah I kinda want to do it again and again and again
I went out of my normal producing zone, largely because i wanted to do other stuff that didn't involve Techno, Hardcore or Hip-Hop, my 3 most produced genres so far. This track is kind of weird, in that it involves a looped breakbeat, that undergoes a bit of a reverse effect, that sounds like some kind of pully. It's effectively 2 breaks, one with the effect, one without. The track features an intense selection of ambient elements, restricted to mostly 1 chord, in a drone type piece, because experimentation is cool. The track isn't just break and chord though, there is an intro that builds up to the drop, a middle section with a filter that slowly morphs back into the drop, as well as a monologue of what Orange Juice and why Florida is the main producer of it. It's just unique stuff that i hope you at least enjoy. It might be a little sharp, because i opted for a very hi-hat heavy break. Oh well, enjoy!
Orange Juice and toothpaste
two distinctly different tastes
on their own they might be great
but don't put them together
they're kinda like you and me
two people everyone agrees
on their own they might be great
but don't put them together
you don't like what gets squeezed out of my tube
i don't like all your bitter pulp
orange juice and toothpaste
try not to mix them in your haste
on their own they might be great
but don't put them together
mutual restraining orders
setting boundaries
marking borders
on our own we might be great
but don't put us together
you don't like what gets squeezed out of my tube
(squeeze it!)
I don't like all your bitter pulp
(chunky chunky chunky chunk chunk)
I've been trying to learn compression and guitar VSTs, so this was mostly an experiment. Arranged the drums first and then jammed all the instrumentals as a bit of practice, because I almost always just click-arrange things. This was really hard to get done! The bass is rough because I didn't have time to plug my amp into the computer, so I recorded my amp with my AT2020 mic. Hopefully it's not super out of balance and no one goes deaf like I am now.
