i'm losing my mind
thought that i'd turn out fine
tried to sort myself out
but i lost track of time
and in crafting a line
the weeks have flown by
in a blink of an eye
am i falling behind
watch the world through an endless feed
watch the world moving on without me
feels like i'm losing velocity
like i'm two steps behind
in what goes on in my life
tell myself that it'll be just fine
it's a feeling, nothing more, that'll pass in time
but i'm miles from the finish line
and my shadow's growing longer
i don't know, can i go on?
This was more like a 30 minute compo cuz I got home late from my shit --- nice to do one again though.
Lyrics:
To dust I return
Not sure what lesson's I learned
I know I was just another atom
of a mineral in a ring of saturn
But this is for the best
The afterlife beckons me in my dreams
The rest of you are never what they seem
So here I am crumbling to dust
Finally free of a world unjust
Reborn to this hollow world
Dripping black with all the oil
I wish for a different scene
From all the pain I see
Whisked away by the wind
So I'm no longer pinned
Just leave me be
Written at 10BPM in FL Studio
And i keep falling through the waves of ambient arps descending in tempo
And i keep falling through lush pad chords in G Major swelling in and out
And i keep falling through deep bass subs rattling in the ear
And i keep falling through filtered squelchy synths playing simple notes
And i keep falling through the use of choir sounds automated in volume
And i keep falling through the use of airy ambience designed for a neverending drone feel
And i keep falling through the art of a slower and slower BPM
And i keep falling and falling and falling and falling and falling and falling and falling and falling and falling and falling and falling and falling and falling and falling and falling and
Tonight I wanted to go less for a literal interpretation of the theme and more for making a compelling song loosely inspired by it
I made this song to represent the feelings of graduation, and as a reflection of my journey of music composition throughout high school.
