Jonathan!+Cyril - Nice, I remember this source well. I'm guessing Cyril did the guitars; recognizing the tone. Small note: Cyril's timing was a little off on the rhythm guitars, if you listen to them alongside the drums. Good featuring of Bleep, though I think that it was lacking expression (vibrato, pitch bend, etc). At 1:35, I was hoping for some sort of solo since the mood changed for a while with that dissonant arp, but oh well. Also, the ending was odd since it was very left-panned without something on the right to balance it out. Overall not too bad IMO. Definitely not lacking in energy, and in general solid performances from Cyril and prominent usage of Bleep.

Yoshiblade+Gario - With this being almost pure chiptune, it really puts a lot of weight on arrangement for me. I just thought the arrangement was... plain/straightforward... and the production felt sparse. It was practically Bleep and drums. That (underground hip hop breakbeat?) drum loop also doesn't help too much with the arrangement flow there. :| Needed more chiptune synths or something to fill in the soundscape more for more interest. I thought it was a little quiet or missing a lead at certain spots.

supercoolmike+Esperado - I liked the bass sound here. Good use of detuning work to thicken it up there. Some of the sequencing felt too fast for the tempo, but it's OK. Oh, this source. MMZ4! Interesting shift in mood from the original's (obviously) rockin' vibe for the first half of it. It almost felt like a march toward the battle itself, before getting into the battle vibe (rather suddenly) at 1:21. Overall, I actually liked this quite a bit (though it could just be because I played this game before).

So, I almost sat this round of voting out, for one simple reason. Every mix on here is damn good and I listen to them I struggle to place the “good” that should earn 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Am I humming this one all day? Did that one utilized the C64 more naturally or just smash it in? So in a sense, one track can be the one I find myself humming all day, but at the same time not ”express the unique qualities of the theme instrument”…If someone where to write a flawless symphony and then only use a small portion of the C64 sound, that would fulfill the required use of the secret ingredient, but maybe not net the top spot. So with that in mind I gotta make a choice.

Johnathan- This is solid as solid can be. TBH I was certain, CERTAIN, Cyril did that guitar part, I was wowed by how well mixed it was and that synth going over the guitar felt good, stuck out in some places a little too much.

Necrox- This was Awesome as it stands the most complete and well produced, if each of the mixes here where up for OCR judgement, I’d place cash on this track for sure. My only objection was I really couldn’t discern the C64 sound except in the beginning ( I think I hear it around 1:40 too) then moving away towards a great soundscape.

SCM-This represents a germane use of the secret ingredient, my only sticking point was some of the drums seemed out of place with such a chippy atmosphere, the Tom tom, stuck out for me, I would have loved to hear those drums sent through a nice Bitcrusher, or if not that maybe fatten them up to make a nice a nice genre blend, but as it stands they lack a bit of spice?

Despite being quite familiar with the source, I just wasn't feeling "A road". "Bleeping Hell" was a nice upbeat jam, but was a bit bare bones for me . "Tower of Giants!" was the most interesting mix with its subtle atmosphere and IDM-like percussion.

YoshiBlade - I like the chips you used in combination with the drums and source.
Jonathan - This song rocks. I like the combination with the synths.
Necrox - Good orchestral introduction and this song is also a good way of variation in the songs.
Supercoolmike - That middle part was awesome in combination with the last section of the song.

YoshiBlade & Gario: Really quiet intro, I keep thinking my sound is broken or something. But great use of Chip64, with effects you managed to get a lot of depth and range out of it.

_Jonathan! & Cyril: Other than the timing issues mentioned in the thread, this is a pretty solid piece. Not the most amazing use of Bleep', I can tell you found it more of a challenge than an asset. But an overall cohesive and enjoyable piece.

Necrox & Timaeus: The opening strings sounded unusually fakey, especially since there's a nice solo violin later on. Nice creative use of Bleep' to cover a range of sounds, although again, it seems like you were working around rather than with it. Nice job squeezing a lot of use out of a very short source.

supercoolmike & Esperado: An auspicious opening that dies at 0:28 into a shallow, uninspired soundscape. But way to embrace the Bleep'! If your remix stayed at maximum strength the whole time I'd have rated it highly, but the weak parts were really weak.

Jonathan- clear usage of Bleep, so well done on that. When it first comes in around 0:19, it feels a bit out of place. This could be the panning, or just that it feels a bit dry, imo. Well done overall though.

necrox- It was a tough call between you and yoshi, overall i gave yoshi the win because i had a hard time figuring out where you used Bleep, Im guessing for the arps in the background? A solid mix though, it reminds me a bit of aquaria.

Yoshiblade- I had a hard time finding something to give feedback on here, overall well mixed and well put together. I enjoy the chippy drums and SFX throughout, and the bleep usage is pretty clear here. Well done. also interesting trivia there.

All 3 entries were great. I particularly liked Necrox's use of bleep. (I found it work out what was bleep and what was another vst, they were well blended)
