FreakyT - I like this style, it's very relaxing. Ending is abrupt.
DrumJ8 - The kick and bass are doing the song for the most part nicely.
Sir Nuts - The song sounds very complete. Nice sampling.
Garpocalypse - This song has what a +5 minute song requires; variation. Good work.

Esperado - Nice one. No surprise you got second place in that contest.

Awesome mix! I think the genre chosen lends itself really well to the song.

You Will Live Again by Garpocalypse
I love the introduction section; it sounds so depressing, yet hopeful! The speedup around 0:56 seems very abrupt -- I feel like I'm listening to two separate songs. The next part of the song has some definitely cool sections, like the slowdown around 2:16 and the buildup around 3:50.

This is definitely a very loose interpretation of the song! Kind of interesting though; it sounds like it could be the music for a nighttime city level in an old school platformer.

Clear Reflections:

The delay on the piano during the opening threw me off at first but once it got going I loved it. Especially the whistle in the background. The only dig I have is that it would have ended fine coming off on the pads alone. The half piano lick takes some energy out of the ending. Otherwise great!

Transparent Skyline:
Nice intro. Piano sounds a little dry for the type of part it has. Sounds programmed too. If you can get even a small midi keyboard and play it yourself it will benefit greatly from the expression. Especially that blocked chord at the end. Some nice ideas but a little too short. It almost sounds like it's about to go somewhere, then you realize it's over. What is there sounds very good though.

Point of Refection:
Having some trouble figuring out where the source is in this one. It sounds like you have the outline for what would be a very sweet groove but it could use some elaboration and more instruments. If your DAW came with an effects suite of some sort be sure to play around with them, you're bound to get some unique sounds to use.

Freedom of Youth:
Nice sounding mix. Some serious improvement you've made very quickly. The drum line gets repetitive very quick though. Some more rhythmic variations would really help as would some different side chaining patterns. Check out Prototype Raptor's remix of Chemical Plant zone called Chemixxtrixx. It starts off in that similar dance drum pattern but then starts going nuts with several different layers of french compression settings.

I'm gonna start with the underdog, DrumJ8. Drummy man, need to allocate more time for yourself if you wanna be competitive in this competition. If you don't then I guess that's fine.
I'm gonna give you a few pointers anyhow ;)
The piano is really quiet (and needs more reverb), compared to the rest of the mix, which should be in the forefront unless you had reason to make the drums louder. The drums also sound very uh generic, like you used the preset for whatever drum VST you have. I know you have better samples ;) and better techniques to give them more oomph - if you don't then look for free stuff on the internet - KVR is also a really good website for finding the free VSTs and .wav files.

Sir_Nuts - definitely sounded the most inspired and creative of the lot - I really loved the soundscape you built too.

Garpocalypse - Cool rock remix with an interesting approach, decent sound design too.

FreakT - I love laid back stuff, but this remix felt a little empty. I fall into this trap too sometimes lol. It could be more a subjective matter, but I felt that your remix could have used more support melodies or even a slight tempo increase.

Sir_nuts: a nice dancy rendition of original. seems very similar arrangement wise to the original, which may or may not be a good thing, depending on how you look at it. No real feedback otherwise though. diggin that little acid bassline around 151.

FreakyT: Nice arrangement! you did an interesting job interpreting the source. seems like theres not much low end on my side though.

Drumj8: I didnt really recognize your usage of the source tune. Also I personally think you could have thrown a harmony in there just to make the soundscape a bit less sparse. nice upbeat track though!

Garpocalypse: overall i enjoy the feel of the track, but i feel like alot of the instruments dont really stick out much. could be the style you went for too though. also that abrupt tempo change really threw me. is there supposed to be a birdy chirp sound at 3:28 it throws me off as well a bit.
