Great work everyone again. Three songs is not a bad start of the nineth season of PRC.

Sggod89 - It's a pity your friends lyrics couldn't be used, but still it's interesting. The guitar is the highlight of this qualitive song. The last part could have used a little more variation, but still this work is great.
DjMokram - Nice start and a very nice style. It really works well on this song. Especially the middle part. The ending comes very direct.
Evktalo - There are a few problems at some points, probably because of the quality of the MID file. The song is simple and easy, but really funny to listen to.

uugee by evktalo: I think DjMofram has a few more plug ins than you haha. If I didn't know there was a source behind it, I would defintiely believe this is just one epic improv jam!

Across the Dunes by DjMokram: I must say, awesome remix. I wish I had electronica chops like that. I can tell you put some effort in this, and it really paid off. I love how you translated the feel of the source intro the world of electronica.

sggod's track is really good and fun to listen to! and while it was a race between it and Mokram's track, DjM's track was just a little less memorable to me. And evk's was unfinished :P

This is my first remix competition that I've voted in. Originally, I was going to be biased and vote for Sonic, but I decided to be open-minded for once in my life and listen to the compos. I was extremely impressed with Ghost White Sand, and DJ Mokram's remix was well done as well. My vote ultimately goes for Ghost White Sand, as I was taken by the rock arrangement and revision

Very interesting takes on the Bahamut Lagoon piece. Both mixes adapted the melody to new backing chords (or chord, hehe) in an interesting way. Good genre shifting in both cases!

sggod89 again had a interesting combination of guitars + synths (or subtle backing orchestral sounds). Good ambience, there's definitely a cohesive feel in the piece, and it's really different from the source. The structure feels a bit incomplete. The fade out at the end is good, it fits the mood of the part. But it feels like the piece would benefit from that part building up to another main melody section. (With perhaps a calm bridge and then the build-up coming back and eventually fading out.) Also the mix feels a little muddy (though I'm on cheap headphones). The guitars are well played and arranged, and making the mix a bit clearer would give them a bit more room, that they deserve.

DjMokram did a more complete piece in my opinion. I thought the structure was that of a finished song. Good variation throughout, and a sense of tension/release, there were sections that took it easier, and sections that had more energy. Good percussion, good contrast between the pipe instruments and nice selection of old school / lofi / analogue synths. I really liked the synths in this one!

#Round 209#

Noriko Matsueda for the WIN! Great source from Binweasel, who sadly didn't enter this round.
Wish there could have been more remixes from Underground Zone too. Oh,well...
On with the vote then!

----------------------------

First place - sggod89:
I swear the beginning from 0:13 screams UNATCO from Deus Ex! Cannot unhear it now.
Source is used prominently and easily recognizable, with some intricate variations and nice backing harmonies that make for an enjoyable and diverse arrangement.
Production was much more harmonious than in your previous track for Round 208 imho, so props for that.
It's a pity you couldn't get the lyrics in as well, cause vocals would have totally fitted the piece imho.
Maybe you'll be able to record and add them to the song some day. ;)

Second place - evktalo:
First off, thank you for remixing Underground Zone.
I see you went for a FM sounding, Genesis-era interpretation, and I couldn't agree more with that choice.
Particularly enjoyed the subtle variations in the notation, insane synthbass and the fact you kept the upbeat feel of the original.
The chorus that enters at 1:38 was really great, filling the soundscape quite well. Too bad it cut so abrubtly, cause I wanted to hear some more.
Arrangement itself is a little on the short side, but there are some neat ideas that I'd love to hear developped into a full length remix.
Fun take on the source nonetheless! :)

See y'all next time. ^_^
