@Misael.K - Yes this is a beat.
@Garian - I don't even think this is my flangiest of musical tracks lol.
@Nukage - 3-4 Compo's is not even close to the amount i do haha.
@Coloradoweeks - I believe they're called Timbales.
@Arcana - Everything you hear is normal instrumentation ran through a thick flanger that becomes more pronounced overtime. Piano is my usual piano i use, no difference there. The effects are a little different from me however.
@Souperion - I'd totally be down for a singer on this, especially to replace my melody parts. JH Sounds is an interesting choice i will say, but nothing out of the blue. I think it could kind of work out.
@Barley - It is a good cord progression isn't it?
@Arcana - I know lol. Some are crazy enough to even stream it, amirite?
@Misael.K - Gotta have that 7th and Augmented 4th ;)
@Suzums - For this one, i manually moved some of the notes on the hi-hats, instead of hitting the swing functionality, to really make the beat trippy...
@Coloradoweeks - Yeah this is way too energetic lol, however i loved what i did so much, all my other attempts wasn't as good, so i failed really lol. This ended up being the final beat to work on for the compo.
@CotMM - It's almost close to running music, even at 85bpm haha. I've gotten too attached to this beat.
@Misael.K - Your probably on the tame part lol. It gets really heavy at the end...
@Swordsofdestiny - That's er...kind of the idea haha..
@Snackclub - The flanger does add a bit of loudness to the party, however it's all intentional.
@CotMM - Think of the flanger as you descending into a lazy blur lol. Totally fits the idea of you having less and less energy.
@Arcana - It gets to the point where everything is just one giant hazy blurrrrrr.
@Snackclub - It really messes with your head in a weird but violent way.
@Coloradoweeks - To be honest even i don't know if i've invented a new genre. It's always you guys that make these comparisons lol. I just go along with it. Kind of humbling, but also kind of amusing.
@Garian - Not gonna lie, this is how i feel when it's hot lol.
@Misael.K - It's a slow descent into madness. (Also i always thought right clicking took longer, than simply clicking on the react button...)
@NickC - lol
@Misael.K - I could go further, but they're is a time limit lol. So the madness has to stop somewhere. So close to dying, but yet so far XD.
@Suzums - This track is definately a drunk track. You keep taking shot after shot, and you soon start to slur and vomit lol.
@Arcana - Once the flange really kicks in, so does the volume lol. Everything is intentional...
@Coloradoweeks - Why, did you do something this crazy when you were younger?
@CotMM - Yeah, 6 minutes is your lot. Not allowed to take it further lol.
@Everyone - Thanks for the kind words!
Now then....
TheVideoGamer - This track started as a simple idea, as most of my tracks do. It was a loop, consisting of a piano line, a bassline, and a drum groove, that was it. I didn't have plans to take it further, not at least because i felt like looping it, but it was something short, it it would have been repetitive. Not when compo had started, i made something in the realm of a drone and maybe some light drum work, but i wasn't feeling it. Tried a simple piano piece, not working. In the end this popped up in my head, and despite my best efforts, it wouldn't leave me alone. I just thought it was the best choice for the theme, it was so good. Yeah it's way too energetic, but the flanger/chorus elements are there, and the chords do put me in a relaxed state. I don't know, i ended up working on this. The flanger elements were already in the beat, so it was just a matter of progressing into a hazy wash of flanging. As you progressed, different synth solos come in, more pads and keys come in to enhance the piano, and the beat is more intense. I like how i've experimented on this, i might try it again. Glad you liked it!
cotmm68030 - Deep textures, feels like a lot of intricate thought processes are going on your mind lol. Reminds me of rain going on outside. It's not reliant of high-end, more so like a deep rumble, which honestly works really well for the theme. The person in the image, is lazily on his/her phone, not even having the energy to use it, which is captured on this track. Personally you do drone music better than i do lol. I don't have the patience to be this minimal or repetitive. Now that is both a good thing and a bad thing. Good in that it's very spacious with a lot of simple thought-provoking ideas, but the bad is the overuse of the minimalism. I ended up overthinking this lol, and overall i found more positives than negatives, so i'll give you this one. Well done!
Lyra_183 - So CotMM provided the lyrics eh? That's a collab if i've ever seen one lol. Great singing, i would love for you to add a beat to this one day, good job!
swordofdestiny - So you rescored the actual gif? I mean it's totally fitting, but i don't really have much to critique here lol. Good job though!
DarkShadow - The master of loud waveforms makes a return lol. This is very stuttery this week. The sounds are crazy experimental and way too high energy. I'll pop this on when i feel extra lazy haha. Good job!
Souperion - Cool guitar work, very calming lots of intricate slides. Not what i was expecting from you, but honestly not far of the image. It works super well, and really gives me that chill feeling. Guitar work, despite having a lot of heavy rhythmical ideas, has some cool really soft licks going on. Honestly it's just lovely, well done!
AintShitJosh - So your first entry eh? You're not kidding on the lo-fi beats. Honestly, this was probably my first thought when i looked at the image. I see you added the flange and wah too, not far from the effects i've used in my track. Only 2 chords, but yet it's done in such a lovely loose way, it sounds like a hazy guitar jam. It's soo laidback, and unstructured it almost sounds like your throwing in any notes you've played, yet it works so well. Lovely stuff, awesome work!
Garian - Cool synth chords, very 80's inspired. Not my idea of a lazy afternoon lol, but cannot deny it does slap hard. Great chords and melody. Not the most intricate track, and drums are a little hot for my liking, but it was a lot of fun. Good job!
DDRKirby(ISQ) - Now these are some classic 7th chords. Definately my idea of chill. No surprise that there is an influx of lo-fi hip-hop beats going on. I'm loving the little plucks filled with delay, that pops in and out, so relaxing and spacious. The Japanese voices nearly took me out of the experience for a moment, however they weren't in the way, especially on second listen. The mixing is beautiful, as you always do, and it's just a super lovely chill experience. Awesome work!
Barley - That is definately some psych guitar going on. Fits the lazy mood. Drums are surprisingly well balanced here. For once i actually heard clear drums in this, and the mix is very nice. Nothing sticks out or becomes loud. The chords are a little all over the place, like the only thing that is clearly defined is the melody, but i do commend you for a clean mix in this one. Good job!
Nukage - This goes hard, as you always do. Loving the way you always shove the kick and snare on top of the melodic ideas. Really makes the kick go so hard and dirty. Now there isn't a build-up in this one, in the same way a standard dubstep track might go, however the melodies and light-airy feel is actually really beneficial to the theme. Sure it's a little intense for the theme, however it's kind of beautiful in a way, and really has a lot of cool calming vocals going on. It's lovely stuff, well done!
Suzumebachi - We gonna get that Suzumebachi harmony? Loving the snare in this, totally RnB like. Cool mallet sounds we got going on. I was totally right about the Suzumebachi harmony, it's just outstanding chords, that i could never replicate. BEAUTIFUL STUFF, OMG. Incredible work!
Coloradoweeks - Even has the SFX to boot. You guys come up with the most coolest of chord progressions, even i could not replicate. I come up with some pretty advanced chord progressions, but nothing like this. The piano embellishments were an amazing touch. The drums are groovy, however the vocals are a little close to being buried, but not so much, they are undecipherable. Kind of lo-fi in a way. Ending made me chuckle, this was awesome stuff. Amazing work!
obScene - Calming stuff, piano work is also emotional. I mean you are known for that kind of stuff. A tad bit whimsical in this one. love the childlike nature in this one. You make a lot of awesome pieces, and this is no exception. Maybe i'm biased towards happy melodies, but the production was just awesome here. I'm in love with the string work in this one, especially that Gb minor chord. It's just an extremely beautiful piece, incredible work!
NickC - Quiet waveform lol. Also child-like, but more of an adventurous explorer kind of vibe, than a calming innocence. More beautiful melodies, but kind of makes the whole GIF more silly, than relaxing. The switch-up into the synth work was really good. It's both a key-change and a texture change. Even if it's not the track i'd associate with the GIF, it was a ton of fun, with lots of lovely melodies. Awesome work!
ScorchM1262 - Looks like everyone decided to rescore the gif, not make music based on the gif lol. I mean this is lovely stuff, more of that child-like innocence, and definately lovely melodies, but....how can i effectively judge only 22 seconds of music haha.
animatrix1490 - That is one mighty ass tail lol. I guess i should have joined the party, and rescored the GIF. I wasn't expecting the piano to act as SFX, that got me a bit of a chuckle lol. I guess i'm not used to 15 second tracks...
Misael.K - Sweet synth sounds, totally digging the almost pop/rock/folk kind of thing. Kind of warm and uplifting, but with a sense of serious rock sheen to the track. It just gives me that 70's rock kind of feel for some reason. Melodies are fire, and the drum work is super funky. Bassline is smothering my ears in a awesome way. Into this one a lot, awesome work!!
Ethansight - Seems to be an influx of 7th chords heh. Loving the attack on the strings, it's very unique string work. Also kind of cute, and child-like. Bassline goes hard, like way too hard. So much so, it drowns out everything else. Idea is awesome, but you went hard on the master. Melody hurts my ears a little. Sorry dude, but good job!
Arcana - Wow that's some cool drums. Kind of a mix between 80's music and dance music. Vocals are really good, has a concert hall vibe. The backing track is getting drowned by the vocals a little, but the synth work is very cool. Vocoder was also a cool touch. It just needs a bit polish for this to be awesome. Good job though!
JH Sounds - It's always nice to finish with your beats, it makes for a great closer. Some cool syncopation on your vocals, really adds a touch groove to the track. I should experiment with some 4:3 polyrhythms more in my next piece. Lyric writing is super fire as always, beat is always a ton of fun. Well done!
Top 3 - Suzumebachi, obScene, Misael.K
Note: It took me ages to decide on a top 3. So these could have gone in any order, they were soo good!
