Great entries everyone, such an active round!

APZX- Simply just like this one, the sounds are great and everything. Though the bell-type instrument seems a bit loud around 1:30 to 1:50.

Esperado- Love the winter feel this one gives, feels so natural despite the nature of the source.

Kat- Third place was a really hard vote for me out of the remaining three, but I eventually went with Kat's. The guitar is pretty nice, love the drums after the 0:16 mark, love the detache strings.

Chernabogue- Like the classic rock feel, with the rock organ and all.

Xsquader- Like the bells, and the way the song suddenly kicks in with the loud drums.

Hoboka- Nice bonus track, the sounds are all really good.

Hope we have more rounds with activity like this!

1. What a Groovy Night - Basically, this was awesome. Good organ and fun take on the original. If touched up more in mixing this would be that much better.

2. Vinter Vonderland - There is no reason this should have worked at all, but it surprisingly worked better than I had suspected. Though this mainly stems from sound choices and how they were utilized.

3. Vampire Hunter - When the drums kick in the track takes off and just rolls with it. The sound choices are a bit grating, but the rendition of the themes & motifs is top notch.

4. Dark Inheritance - This was almost no. 3. The thing that set it back? Those arps. Just because this is guitar focused doesn't mean you have to use just guitars. There are synths and you can make them fit with heavily distorted guitars no problem. That was basically the only reason this didn't get a top 3. Otherwise I felt it was better than Vampire Hunter.

5. CV4ST - I really feel the problem with this is actually sound selection. The actual renditions of the themes is good, but the problem is that sounds just don't work to me. Sorry.

6. (Bonus) Simon's Remixed Turd - This is pretty fun. Fun take on the original. If I had been allowed to vote for it, probably no. 2 for me.

esperado - I think the christmas sound works very well.

Kat - I like the usage of guitars.

APZX - Reminded me of something from sonic the hedgehog soundwise. Pretty cool.

Chernabogue - Nice guitar interpretation, sticks close to source with some nice variations. Really love the live geetars. Those church organs too mm mm.

Kat - Really love the strings and the guitar strumming. Not bad for sequenced guitars actually. Nice percussion too. A little bit on the re-interpretive side, but meh it works for me.

Xsquader - VERY high energy. And sticks to the source fairly well. Nice way of making fl slayer kinda cool sounding haha. (god I hate using fl slayer)

APZX - Very trancey, well produced and stuff. Love the distorted bass.

Chalis - man very cheesy sounding synths, but they fit in with the whole happy hardcore sounding style. Woulda liked to see more variation on them drums, but it's the style. Nice drum rolls though. Arp work is nice too.

esperado - you're 4th place for me haha. Problem is this is way too not MnP in that you changed up the mood big time. The production is good and it's very chill. That distant fuzzy bass is cool, so are the TMNT sounding synths lol.

Chernabogue - Love the tone of the organ! The breakdown followed the the bridge at 1:03 was awesome, however I felt the overall sound was a bit thin and didn't have a lot of 'oomph'.

Xsquader - The initial chime-style synth is way too high-pitched. I guess you made it that way so it can still be heard in the mix when the rest of the instruments come in later; but by itself it's a little painful! The Slayer guitar sound fits well with the overall track. It might just be me but I think your drums were mostly panned over to the right?

APZX - Nice intro, very laid back and chilled out. Overall a good trance track, only criticism is the brass/horn synth at 1:30. For me it doesn't really fit with the trance vibe. Excellent beat!

Chalis - Love the extended intro, however the organ line comes in a bit abruptly; might have been better if it had faded in slowly. The sounds used fit nicely but got a bit repetitive towards the end. Also did you speed the rempo up a little?

hoboka - Another excellent organ (tone that is). Drum sequencing was good but the shaker distracted a bit. Drums were occasionally a bit too high in the mix and overrode a few of the other instruments. Nice choir! Love the square bass, however the piccolo/flute was a little too high at times.

Kat - I'm very 50/50 over this one. As you said in your description you're not familiar with tracking the guitars but the overall concept of doing a symphonic metal track is excellent and there are times when I can hear your ideas coming through. The bass and drum breakdown at 1:20 sounds awesome the guitar that follows it sounds excellent (if a little mechanical).

esperado - I can tell what you're going for but adding the shaker and Christmas bells to the track didn't make it any more festive for me; which is shame becuase I like the concept. Instrument-wise the track felt a little flat overall.

What a Groovy Night:
it has nice dynamic arranging! Is the low end panned wide? It just feels like its taking up alot of space. however, Im not well acquainted with mixing classic rock.

Cv4st: Interesting synth choices. Not a huge fan of the hard panned snare, but thats probably a taste thing. The synth that comes in at 1:15 comes flying out of nowhere, so a buildup or transition would help alot there. Otherwise enjoyed this take on the theme!

Grooving with Ghouls: Nice ambience! Im not sure what you had in mind, but it turned out pretty well! Not a fan of the Tetrisplus style trumpet solo at 1:30. It feels like the energy of the mix should pick up after the drum fill. You save the energy for right at the end when the song fades out. Otherwise a nice mix!

Vampire Hunter: I like the moody intro! It definitely feels like you should have brought the beat in at :44 instead of :57 though. At 1:38 a Some sort of cymbal or transition might be nice. Last thing is that it sould use louder or fuller pads, since theyre hiding behind the lead or arent there in the quieter atmospheric sections.

Simons Remixed Turd: Needs some of that 'verb! Alot of instruments feel stiff and need some oopmh, like the flutes or brass sections. For example, the longer notes on the flute secitons just sustain with out any long release, reverb or velocity. I dig the choirs, pad and organs though! 1:06 is my favorite part.

Dark inheritence: Again not sure how to mix guitars but the heavy left panning guitar that comes in the intro makes the stereo field feel unbalanced. Nice bass solo in the breakdown, and the guitars themselves sound good too. Good ups on recording them!
