1) @HarlemHeat360 : YES ! baby Monkeys everywhere ! :D

Orchestration is cool

Lower tempo is cool

You is cool

2) @APZX : I like the movement of the instruments/synths.

My complain would be that it is a bit too charged (too many stuff going on).

3) @Studionimbus.org : I like the xylaphone sound.

The drum is a bit awkward for the whole song.

@TVG : haha nice use of voice fx

The drum is kind of cool and fits the genre

The bridge part with the accordeon is interesting !

Nice change of pace, well done.

Find 'Em Quick 'n Dirty - Bass is very very boomy and boxy. The drums being a bit out on the right and the synth just hanging out in the left is a bit odd, but whatever. The marimba or whatever is a nice change in pace being centered up. Not a fan of the accordion though. And the brass again hanging out on its own in the right. I dunno, I kind of like the live drum but I really dislike the overly dry presentation.

Hide and Seek Forest (HLEET Remix) - The low synth is just weird sounding to my ears. It isn't per se out of phase nor is it per se in phase. It is distracting though. I do like the bass and drums on the whole though. The synths are perhaps a bit uninspired, but they do their job well enough.

Beautiful Monkey Babies - The drums here are nice, the use of space is quite good. The bass while lacking some upper energy does an excellent job of filling out the bottom just enough. It isn't too heavy or anything. The plucked synth just playing the repeating notes is perhaps a tad overbearing. The strings coming in and playing the melody line though are a wonderful contrast to that. I also really like the choirs here. The other thing that I enjoy is how you slowed down the tempo, but it sounds great having done that. That vocal addition is neat, but not sure I like the aesthetic it brings in.

Ape in the Jungle - I never get tired of that Goofy yelp. The yodeling is an interesting addition here. I really like the percussion here. It takes the original DnB-ish stuff and makes it a bit more interesting to be honest. Overall, this is a rather fun take on the source.

APZX: Very trippy, sparkly, and fun. Excellent work.

Studionimbus: Nicely captures the energy and happy-go-lucky mood of the source. Nicely done.

Hleet: Spunky, a little delicate, and thoroughly boppin'. Good job.

HarlemHeat: How lovely. I like the vision for this piece. More gentle and smooth, but it still has that energy running through it. Very good.

TVG: Yup, its all there. That Goofy scream gives me some solid nostalgia. Very good, very fun.

I like how you're track has a newer electronic vibe but still keeps the same DNA and feeling as the original. You also do a good job of evolving the synths and building. Unfortunately sometimes I'm expecting you to just blow my socks off after you build to something and it just kinda resets never really giving me what I'm expecting haha. Still, you got good instrumentation and the flavor of the track is really nice. Good job mate.

Studionimbus

A nice little 1:1 approach. I like the instruments for the most part but I think the instrument used for the initial melody (sounds like a trumpet) would do well with some more vibrato or to lessen the expression on the high notes? Can be a bit piercing. I struggled with that in my apprach tbh. I like your other instrumental choices though.

HLEET

Same with nimbus I think you did a good job at just keeping it simple and letting the song work for itself. I think you did pretty solid for the most part. I think after the first section you did some drum sequencing of your own and it honestly didn't work for me? Seemed a bit on the messier side. Almost kinda glitchy! On second thought, it's actually kinda cool lol. But I still think it's messy and probably doesn't work too well. That being said, whatever you used for the yodel? Was fantastic haha. I want it! Very goofy, very expressive. You always have good ears HLEET!

Ah the one and only VideoGamer. The one who blesses us with the monkeys. I damn near died of laughter when I first heard the monkey. You are the only one of us who gave a real effort to create/use some monkey yells. Is that Goofy? Anyway, I like your key solos and the building you do in the second half. I often struggle with how to revisit a theme and you showed me a few interesting techniques. I really enjoy the song writing here. Sometimes I think the drum sequencing is about to get a bit repetitive but I think it always manages to come out and give me something new right before then. Overall, this was a pleasure to listen to and a fantastic effort! Good job.

After much thinking i think HarlemHeat360 should win. It was a close battle between HarlemHeat360 and APZX, but it ended up with HarlemHeat360 winning. Sorry APZX. From the top yes?

APZX - That is one thick synth bass. It's very juicy, and almost sounds like it comes form a DnB genre. The acid synths are very cool, it almost makes it kind of fast techno. It's weirdly pretty. I love the hazy feel of this one. The acid synths, are acting for both the Yodel and the Agogo. When it builds up into a sort of climax, it get's quite magical. Almost fairy-tale like. Now personally, the way you've "notated" the acid synth, is a bit all over the place for me. Like it's almost like a time-signature change almost. One minute it's one melody, and then it's another melody, without warning. The mix itself is great, although i will admit this is quite a chaotic piece. I know the original is, but it was more restrained in the melodies and structure, close to minimalism almost (More so in the instruments used, than in the melody). The acid synth is a tad bit overused for my liking, and it can be a little chaotic (Only a little, for the most part it was fine), but other than that, the whole thing was lovely, really beautiful additions, enjoyed this a lot. You ended up being my choice for 2nd place, well done!

Studionimbus - Really liking the live performance kind of feel here, it's like you performance it all on instruments, including the bassline and trumpet. Now admittedly this does make it a bit more....sparse, because electronic instruments often have a bit of textures and effects to make it bigger than it is, whereas the live nature doesn't. I do like the fact you went through the effort of getting a real accordion and marimba. That's pretty neat if you ask me. The synth is very unique as well, it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. The fills were pretty great, really makes the drums less repetitive, and really adds a touch of live feeling to the party. 2nd half is just a copy and paste, but with maybe more drum sounds added. if you were to make this shine, i'd maybe add a solo or something. Still loved it though, it was the most different of the bunch and really adds a touch of cool live performance to the whole thing. Well done!

Hleet - Nice of you to use an electronic kit for this, it works wonders. Loving the synth bass, and the brass sounds, it sounds a bit jazzy almost. Saxophone play's really nicely as an imitation for the Yodel. The crash cymbals are a bit overused here, but i assume it's a problem with the MIDI mapping. My guess is you routed it to a drum sampler, than simply assigning each drum sound to an individual sample. It's not s big issue though. Mix is really nice, nothing sticks out, nor is it annoying. Second half is unfortunately copy and paste from the original. I feel like if you want to keep things going, i'd try adding and removing parts of the MIDI, or simply just end it at the time it's about to loop. However i must commend you on a really good mix, and it was very vibrant and had a lot of great instrument choices. Really nice arrangement, well done!

HarlemHeat360 - Ooh that is a lovely voice. I assume it's your own, or a VST. It's lovely, and play's really nicely in this arrangement. I like how you've smoothly transitioned the electronic styled into a more acoustic arrangement. Now you didn't use the voice for the Yodel, but instead as it's own instrument, which i find very interesting. Nothing wrong with that, after all interpretations is what makes compo fun. Now the arrangement is pretty much there, and that voice is lovely. Now it is a little slow, but i'm only thinking in terms of MnP guidelines, not so much in terms of it being a bad thing. Some of the choir parts are quite bright, so i feel it might mask a bit of the drums a little. Listening to the "solo" voice (Solo as in guitar solo), i feel it definately would have worked if you used it for the Yodel parts, than it's own instruments. It's definately my favourite part of the composition for sure! The drum in this a little more repetitive than the original, but i put it down to using an acoustic kit, not an electronic, so the sounds are constrained to that kit. The voice is amazing in this, definately a fan. The arrangement is also lovely as well, brings out more of the happiness in this, than the original. I ended up picking you to win. Well done!
