Root

"Root" has been a reserved song title for a long time.

Presently I am working on an album for a good friend of mine who sadly passed away (Weezie).

The percussion (Recorded on my Meinl hybrid slaptop cajon) is really just a placeholder, as it's intended that I will end up playing it live when I do a performance of the album in December.

I wanted a longer outro yet again, but I also don't want to have "seconds removed from my lifetime", whatever that means :)

Ehhh, I decided to kind of do house with some magic chords, and some weird vocal shit.

I had to strategically time my vocals when my air conditioner was off. If I had more time I would have tried to get a better beatboxing take, but it was acceptable. Oh also some of the harmonies are off, but I just used a plugin called "pitchproof" which I don't have much experience with using yet and just kind of threw it together, obviously.

Overall I think it's kinda cute, I definitely don't hate it, and maybe it will grow on me :)

I dedicate this song to my good friend Luisa who sadly passed away some years ago. Grief is a weird thing.

It's repetitive, yeah, but I'm trying to teach myself that that's not always a bad thing. Sometimes it's chill just to sit and listen to the same thing repeat.

Originally I recorded a cajon part, but I decided it wasn't adding anything to the track so I took it out. I was definitely channeling some demoscene with the melody near the end :-D

I actually kinda like this one. My best 2HTS yet :)

My 2nd entry. I like this better than last week, although I had to have a couple of unscheduled breaks, so think of it more like a 1 hour 40 mins compo. Also I didn't really have time to EQ the cajon track properly, ideally I would make it a bit brighter

It's been a while since I've finished a song or participated in a compo. I'm really wanting to come out of hiatus though, so here's a little something I scratched up this afternoon. I don't love it, but I also don't hate it.. So I guess that's a good thing :)
