1) Sol Blaster : there's a lot going on. I like the ARP sound.

I like also how you play with interesting sounds.

Congrats for extending the source to such length of time !

Overwall the quality of the track is impressive.

2) Solar Synther : I like the 90's vibe here.

The drop is interesting.

But I'm not fond of the sound used for the melody part, I don't know ... in my ears it sounds a bit annoying and harsh.

I like the piano part (that starts about at the middle of the song), a good addition that enforce the 90's dance style/vibe.

3) Reticulon Wave : Adding special effect is good idea on this one, everyone who played the game might remember that you get the "P" (power !?) perk at the beginning of the level ^^.

The reverb (about at the middle of the song) seems a bit too much and kind of overlap the other notes.

That's a nice remix.

TVG: I DIG IT. Such a sweet soundscape and boppin' rhythm, all well elaborating the source. Very nice work.

DJMokram: The extinction of mankind is an unfortunate, but acceptable cost for this new VST. Delightfully smooth and vibrant. Gives me some old Sega Genesis vibes at times. Nicely done.

hleet: Really neat stuff, simple but expressive.

Souperion:

I love the energy in this! You made some fantastic variations to breathe more life into the source. This kinda dancey electro vibe is fantastic for it, very well done!

Hleet:

Gorgeous soundscape, the high reverb gave an almost cosmic vibe. Appropriate for the source! Has some trancey qualities too, very fun to listen too!

TheVideoGamer:

Fantastic intro, built things up wonderfully. THe drumwork was spot on. Loved the new piano chords you brought in, so lively and dancey! Your structure for the song was a great innovation for the source.

DJMokram:

Delightfully chill and flowing. I loved the deep elements of this mix, and the instrumentation has a nostalgic quality to me. 10/10, would let aliens annhilate humanity to use the DAW again.

ROUND 444

------------------

1st | TheVideoGamer - Solar Synther:

The 90s Namco Sound Team influence brings me right back to the PS1 era with a smile. Happy electro with big trance lead and a healthy dose of breakbeats for good measure: sign me up! Fantastic work on the build ups and all the creative work that went into extending the short source material with chords, texture and expertly placed breaks. Not to mention it's super clean production-wise. Just tremendous work man.

2nd | Souperion - Sol Blaster:

Mad STG vibes on this one, somewhere between Pop'n Twinbee and Ikaruga. Killer arps/sequence work, and great combo of vintage drums and synth patches. Really enjoyed the variations on the original melody you've incorporated during these progressions, which gives this arrange some wicked personality. Would have loved to see a little more creativity on the drum patterns, but aside from that, solid remix.

Bonus | Hleet - Stage 1

Arranging the source in a 'Sweets Dreams' inspired way was kinda genius really. I love the idea of Solar Striker re-imagined as a late 80s radio hit song, and you delivered. Remix gets right to the point with the percussive bed, hypnotizing bass-line and soaring lead, but doesn't overstay its welcome in either length or soundscape. Very nice indeed.

Ok this round really didn't give me a lot to say. Not just because it was mostly 1-3 minute entries, but because also the source is only really 20 seconds long, so the meat of the composition is about what you bring to the table. In the end i decided DJMokram should get the win. From the top yes?

Souperion - I'm digging the 80's style you have going on for this. The drums perfectly capture the retro oldschool vibe, it's great. The synths are also really good, i'm a big fan of the the portamento synths in the arps, you also really made it something special, than simple bass and melodies, it's a lovely take. The only critique i have, is you have a tendency to over used some of the tom fills, where for me it should be a little more on the simpler side for the drums. The melody is not as pronounced here, it's more of a background element in parts. It's still clear, but in certain parts it's more of a background element. Maybe i'm nit-picking too much about that, this was a pretty lovely take on the source. Well done!

Hleet - First time i've really heard you go for more electronic leanings. The again i've not really heard much from you, as you are a more recent participant. Great drums, really feeling that synthy techno vibe. Melody is super clear and concise, great synth choices. Loving how you slowly add things, really making more than bass and melody like in the original. It's very short, so i find it hard to specifically critique stuff, other than make longer, and maybe some slight finessing in the drums. Still though, all that said, i love the melody a lot, lovely synths there. It's a really great take on the source, well done!

DJMokram - I lol'd at the description, really creative ideas here. Loving the alien spaceship feel of this one, compared to the others that felt more closer to 80s music. The trumpet fanfare styles were kind of amusing, really brought something to the source. The drums are a little quiet in contrast to the melodies personally. The snare is very much in the background. However in terms of addinf your own original ideas, this was pretty great. Lots of cool unique melodies and sound effects, that really brought it out as your own. The background pad stuff is pretty awesome. Apart from finessing in the drums, and maybe the unusual fanfare sound in the beginning, i don't think i could find anything really else to critique, it was just a very great take on the source. So much so, i ended up choosing you to win. Well done!
