This one was actually easy, which is odd, because it never usually is. Mainly because one had the most interesting ideas and cleanest mix. And that is PlanarianHugger. Time to take it from the top.

GeneralGrunt - I really like this, it was taking the source in a different direction, providing a nice contrast from the original. Sadly though, it's very repetitive. You've pretty much only used 3 sounds, each doing the same thing. The bass and piano stay in C Major roughly 30 seconds, before it moves into modulation, for another 30 seconds. Also i don't hear any of the source material apart from the melody. Don't take it as a bad thing though, you still did a solid attempt!

PlanarianHugger - Yours was the best mixed, and the nicest sounding. I really liked how you took it, in a different time signature, rather than the standard 4/4. Great synth sounds too, it all blended nicely. Nice mix, and nice structure, didn't feel repetitive or dull. I'd thought with this change, the source material would be lost, however it doesn't, and the result works well. If i had to point out some flaws, only 2 come to mind. If this was your intention then fine, but personally for me bigger drums would be better. Makes it fuller and more exciting. Also i fee the high-pitched bell pluck, is a little too in the mix, however that's more minor. Still though, like i said, yours is the best mixed, so well done!

Silverpool64 - Props for doing this in 20 minutes, great attempt for such a feat. Now i wanted to rank you higher, but the General Midi sounds weren't doing it for me. Felt like a MIDI RIP than a full on remix. However though, yours was 2nd, because it wasn't repetitive, and had a pretty good range of bass sounds. Good job though, i did like this!

1) Oh man TheVideoGamer, 'Play at King K Rool's place' is really dope and it reminds me a lot of the fun and bouncy stuff you heard on VGMix2. I was surprised you didn't mess around with the pitch bend stuff though - that's kinda where I floundered too, though and kinda gave up. Nice mixup midway. Actually, this reminds me of how I used to remix. Like actually put in some %@$&ing creativity and go the minimalistic, chord + rhythm vibe.

2) PlanarianHugger that really does sound like an 'existential crisis'. King K Rool got sucked into a warp zone. I love the use of the Conspiracy Pad/Soundscape from Sytrus - it shined really well here. Huh, actually, this reminds me of how I used to remix too, though probably better and more coherent. Nice soundscape and percussion stuff.

3) Silverpool64 - Well, it's recognizable and sounds like a mildly better upgrade from the source. Guess it does beat nothing. The MIDI drums were a bit of a shame. I DID like the chip-tune on the countermelody lead. You should really mess with patterns and not rely on going directly off the MIDI channels.

4) General Grunt - Uhhhh...cool re-interpretive theme? Not sure what it has to do with King K Rool. This is more fitting for the 1-hour compo OHC. Nice instrumentation though.

General Grunt - Novel concept for a remix but the only part of the source I could find was at the end of the song. Even after listening to the non instrumental version I still find it hard to locate much of the original but the lyric are humorous.
hobka - Good bonus song, it kept me interested as the song went on. I'd say the biggest thing to fix is the balance and the muddiness of the mix but that could just be because of the rushed nature of it.
TheVideoGamer - I love the stock yaas and woos as it sells the style your going for. The main issues I have are that the balance between the melody and percussive elements are off the synth at the end is to high for my liking and that the ending feels sudden, especially after the build up. Other than those it had nice variation while staying with a style.
Silverpool64 - For 20 minutes this isn't bad. the part that kills me liking this song is the constant high pitched beeping and the high synths that some times have the melody. It better that what I'd do in that time period but it use different synths and instrument choices.

TheVideoGamer - Liked this style, much stuff in this song all working good together. Especially the beginning is catchy.
PlanarianHugger - Song is a bit 'different' but in a way I like and it sounds finished.
General Grunt - There's not much of the source in it, but still a nice mix and I like the instruments..
Silverpool64 - It's simple but also has something relaxing.
HoboKa - Doesn't sound 'rushed', it's in a nice balance and I like what's there.

Thanks everyone for the submissions.

PlanarianHugger: I really like the atmospheric feel!

TheVideoGamer: I really like the instrumentation, but I wasn't a fan of the vocal samples.

General Grunt: It was really hard for me to find the source in your remix, but I like how out of the box it is!

hoboka: I would have had a harder time voting if this wasn't a bonus, I love krushed stuff. Nice job!
