Ok i'll be real with you, my entry is a complete mess. A case of trying something new, than reinventing the past. If you like it, fine, but this was me being far too ambitious. Never make Hardstyle TheVideoGamer, only so many people will probably care about the style.....anyways.

But for the remainder it was actually kind of tough, as both deliver a sound to their aspects. In the end i lent towards PlanarianHugger even though YorkshireLakeside is a good entry. Let's dive in.

YorkshireLakeside - I really like the structure of this remix. Lots of neat buildups, and nice soft break sections for a good sense of pace. Drums were unique and gave it a more pop kind of sound, something short and minimalistic. Kind of has a retro feel. I enjoyed your choice of sounds, especially the ones that grow and shrink. Really developing your sound is a good key to a mix, and this shows in this one. Although it was good, sadly i had problems. I don't know about you, but a lot of the sounds (Drums included) were really sharp. Like ear piercing sharp. Maybe it was the drums, as some of the melodic sounds were not as bad. The drums while good, had a few unnecessary selection of sounds, allowing for the mix to be amplified and some of the more tonal parts to be pushed back. Ease a bit on the bongos, and lower the volume of the drums and it's off to a good start. Don't think that i'm hear to talk about the negatives, as this is a solid well produced mix.

PlanarianHugger - I'm starting to sense you have the mixing thing laid out, as this was a solid dynamically balanced track. The ending was very clustered, which is where things got a bit much, but for the most part, your mixing is spot on. The drums were a bit locked in the back, so if you want that punch, then maybe this isn't the right feel. To be honest it feels a little fast for anything "Techno", and has a more rock type sound. If it was me, i'd maybe try ambient music, and remove the drums entirely. I don't know, i just wasn't feeling the drums. Choice of sounds though were really great. Arps were lovely, bass went in perfectly, and some of the filter heavy sounds really helped add depth to the track. Ignoring the negatives, you are definitely improving, and showcases why i picked you as winner for this round.

PlanarianHugger - Great energetic intro. The bass is good. The middle part (other source) is a bit more quiet and relaxing but it also worked. At some points there are volume issues, but I liked the result. Funny end.
TheVideoGamer - Even tough it's hardstyle this song is not that messy and noisy, more a relaxing version of a hardstyle song which I like. It's a very catching result.
YorkshireLakeside - Interesting take on the source, also don't have any idea in which genre to put it in. Liked the stuff in the background of the song but also have the feeling that the song misses a main synth or whatever, it's only there at the end.

Too difficult for me to mix two track but hats off to PlanarianHungger for having a go. TheVideoGamer went wild with Zub but this track by David Whittaker is definitely one for 8bit music. Well done to both of you.

TheVideoGamer - Hardstyle it is but its too loud. I couldn't hear much of anything else. Slavic music joke.
YorlshireLakeside - I like the layers and multiple sounds used , it adds to the soundscape. My only real gripe is that it stay too close to the original and that it ends unexpected.
