Dex - Liked what you did here. The piano is doing a great job. The combination with the bass works nicely. Could use a bit more variation, but the end is good.
PlanarianHugger - This is a sweet song. It's a bit different but I like that for a reason.
RonaldPoe - Liked this approach. The bassline works great in combination with the other stuff.

Dewey Newt - Liked the style. Also the ending was great.
NinjaPenguinDan - Awesome vocals and strings in the background. Everything works well together, great work.

Dex - Always great to see experimentation! Like the bass and piano used here. Piano chords are nice. The section at 1:52 is out of place in my ears, almost like it switches key for one bar. Adding the strings helps make the repeat fresh.

RonaldPoe - I like the drum rhythms you have here. Again, the bassline is doing things that I can't make out. I would switch the volumes on the moving bassline with the long notes to highlight that movement. A little too repetitive, would have liked hearing the rest of the source! Sounds very tribal-like to me. Like we're about to make some toad soup or something :P

PlanarianHugger - I'm surprised you managed to not break more than 2 controllers! This one seems to be TOO experimental, hahaha. I hear the source in the beginning and end, but lost it in the middle. Really cool idea with the time sigs, the mix itself flows pretty naturally, just too little source in there for me. Instrumentation is pleasant. Drums work out, but you may could add in some extra fills in the transitions.

NinjaPenguinDan - I'm definitely not an expert in dubstep, but this sounds very well made! I'm not very big on dubstep at all, but you made a piece I enjoyed. :)Very inspiring mix here, I can definitely understand why you made it a bonus mix though. Hopefully you can add some more source next time and make it a full entry!

Lots of unconventional approaches to this one, I like it! In fact, I was the odd one out by going with that conventional route rock route lol. I definitely enjoyed making mine, and I hope you all enjoyed making yours!

I listened to all of these a few times over the course of a few days before voting.

RonaldPoe - Very good percussion and nice driving beat. Unfortunately there was a lot of single-note repetition in the melody, which made the remix sound somewhat monotonous.

PlanarianHugger - Really enjoyed the odd time signatures, but each time I listened to the song I realized I had stopped paying full attention and let my mind wander after the first couple of minutes. I think the song was registering as meandering and unstructured in my mind, and my mind went along with that idea.

Dewey Newt (bonus mix) - Fun cover and nice ending.

NinjaPenguinDan (bonus mix) - Very nice and uplifting composition.

RonaldPoe – Nice atmosphere but it’s went nowhere and was sonically muddled.
Dex – Slow thoughtful approach was great. Good variation and movement and loved the strings at the end.
Dewey Newt – Besides the almost exactly the same original at the beginning this was great. The guitars variations and especially the keyboard part sold me this song.
NinjaPenguinDan – Can understand why you labeled this as a bonus because the source didn’t stand out to me. Otherwise this was a beautiful song and the speech fit well with the music.

RonaldPoe: I believe you succeeded in capturing the difficulty of the stage in your song. I really liked a lot of your percussion work, but I had a bit of an issue with some of the other instruments. The main problem I found was that many notes just repeated far too much. See 0:04-0:15 for an example. I think I can barely hear some sort of sub bass thing in the background, but I don't think it's nearly loud enough. On my first couple times through your song, I honestly didn't catch it. If you made that bass part louder, it would help a lot. As it is, I'd say it's a decent start, and a bit of polish would go a long way.

Dex: I like a lot of the compositional work here. One thing that would help a lot, though, is humanization. When played on an actual piano, you'd naturally have some variation in the volume/velocity. You could try bringing out some of the phrasing with your mouse/keyboard, or just play it in with a MIDI keyboard. I personally prefer the latter, but either one would probably help.

Dewey Newt: Nice work. Seriously, just swap out the guitars for live ones and you're probably good to go.

PlanarianHugger: I really like the concept. Unusual time signatures are a lot of fun to work with, and you actually pulled it off pretty well. Personally I'd have swapped the bass out for more of a synth bass sound, but that's your call. My main issue is that I had a good deal of trouble picking out the source. I'd have liked to see a source breakdown, but hey, I have yet to do one myself so can't criticize you too much for that, but still...

NinjaPenguinDan: Why do you still make music? Give it up and take up a different hobby. Maybe underwater basket weaving?
