Gario - Good beginning, very interesting. I like the samples you used, they are good in harmony. The middle part has the same melody for a long time.
Prophecy - I like the song a lot. At some points, the song is not allright (some part changes aren't good), but the song itself is good.
Just64helpin - I like the piano. There's not much else in it, but the piano is excellent. Interesting last part.

Great entries, voting was hard.

Prophecy's track was nice, but the silent gaps sorta annoyed me after a while. They kinda remind me of track-to-track transitions on poorly-printed CDs. The only thing that irked me about Gario's entry was the clipped ending.

While Prophecy is a personal friend of mine, I do not let that sway my vote one way or another. I have absolutely no problem voting against him if I feel he doesn't deserve to win. However, this week Prophecy emerges a CLEAR champion despite his song being obviously unfinished. I was dismayed to learn that he had a middle ear infection, which was on a brink of developing into a case of pnemonia. I am glad he went to the doctor early this time and so he is recovering from this nasty bug. Keep in mind, I don't give sympathy votes either, even if my best friend happened to be dying of testicular cancer, no matter how horrible that might be.

On to the mix: While I struggle to hear the original source tune in its entirety, I do hear more of it in Prophecy's mix than I do in the other entries. However, this song stands on its own as a work of art. From rich lush pads that draw you in to the music, to a thumping bass-line that gets your body moving, to a gorgeous vocal melody (despite being obviously fake); if this song were finished it would belong in a club and not on in an under-loved competition such as PRC. Even as it stands it is definitely something you don't often hear in a PRC compo.

AM Trance: Sorry Gario, but along with Prophecy, I don't think you really bothered to finish this song either. There are clearly things you need to keep working on, like developing a melodic section for us to remember. Unfortunately I don't find your song memorable at all. That being said, your percussion, synths, and mixing/production over-all I think exceeds many a PRC-submission. I love the high-energy techno feel. It reminds me very much of the old NES Megaman games.

I don't feel like you really used much of the source besides similar cords and the high energy feel to the song. While I enjoyed this song overall, I felt it was too repetitive and didn't really go anywhere. The melodies weren't really developed enough and it wasn't as catchy as I would have liked. However, I liked many of the sounds you used. The synths were very warm and did lose me just a bit, like your title suggested. However, by the time I started getting lost in your song, it ended. 2 1/2 minutes is just way too short for a techno song.

Pro Amnesia: just64helpin, I would like to guess that this was recorded live from a midi keyboard. I always enjoy hearing piano solo arrangments, especially live ones. However, as a fellow pianist, and after having played the RC Pro-Am title on the piano myself many years ago, I usually judge these types of arrangements even more critically. I don't believe this is up to par with either Prophecy's or Gario's, despite being a live arrangement. If there were vocals to go along with it I might think otherwise. However, on its own I just don't feel like you really developed the melody of this song. Heck, I don't even hear the source tune at all in this arrangement.

The intro I thought was really boring. I started paying attention a bit more after it picked up. However, it seemed to get repetitive rather fast. The left hand didn't really do much at all. The right-hand melodies weren't really catchy enough, although they were a bit more creative than some arrangements I've heard. The rhythm was quite mechanical and the dynamics flat, which leads me to believe this may not have been played live at all, but rather sequenced (or at least played using a metronome and then quantized to hell). At the very least you should probably invest in a fully weighted keyboard so the dynamics of your performance would pick up better, and don't quantize so much. There's nothing wrong with a little rubato.

I don't even think I need to give reasons, here... Prophecy's song is great, period... The vocalise in there was wonderful, the sound was full, the theme was properly represented, etc.. My first place vote goes to you.

Just64helping meanders quite a bit, entertaining but doesn't have the polish of Prophecy's mix. The piano could use more dynamic work - it sounds a bit too mechanical, atm. Second place vote to you.

GLL, your song is... well, odd. Entertaining and fun, but odd, none-the-less (but that's what you were going for, anyhow, so no problem, there). From a technical point of view, however, the EQ work was very weak; it needed more highs and less mids (the bass would balance out in the end). My (imaginary) vote goes to you.

Gario's mix just sucked, through and through - he doesn't get a vote (and don't any of you vote for him, either - he'll post the arcade Donkey Kong Hammer theme for the next PRC if you do... He's crazy, he'll really do it!).

Pro Amnesia:

Some interesting melodic ideas, but underdeveloped. Decent sequencing and transitions, though the intro is boring.

AM Trance:

Cheesy synths and samples all around, but I thought the high strings near the middle were cool. Some of the chords were interesting, but never developed into anything.
