TheVideoGamer - This track was supposed to be an attempt at Dark Ambient, which i have done before, but the end result became just straight up ambient lol. So it's more melodic than dark, even if the intentions are there. It's probably 50/50 really. The main ideas come from a rythmical sawtooth sounds which is done via Gross Beat, and a thick airy pad sound, playing some very otherworldly chords that give it a weirdly relaxing but unsettling feel. Later on i introduce an arp like bell sound, and a choir just to keep the chords varied and the arrangement interesting. Originally the gated sawtooth was gonna be throughout, but i felt it got a bit too boring, so i tried to switch it up. All in all, it's just relaxing music really. Oh well glad you liked it!
DarkShadow - Long one from you, loving that perc bassline. A bit more minimal than usual, but still the classic DarkShadow craziness. Get's more into the gabber territory towards the end. The snare is very crispy i love it, but the kick is softer, so it makes for a bit of a snappy contrast. The saw lead is very peircing this week, it cuts through everything else. Still though, it's a lot of fun, good job!
DDRKirby(ISQ) - Loving the ambience in this one, i really feel like i'm in space, even if the theme is of an empty wasteland. The intro doesn't set me up for DnB, but yet when the hi-hats come in, i knew what i was in for. This kind of blend of chill melodies and DnB breaks just work very well. The arrangement is absolute quality, and the arps are just so nice. I especially like the rhythmical part in the background, it sounds kind of like a cutting lead of some sort. The breakdown is great, honestly the whole track is so good. Another top notch DDR production, you rarely make bad music, it's always so good. So good i chose it for the 2nd spot, incredible work!
Nukage - Now a sudden change of pace with this one. Lovely dark intro, which is something you always do well. I already feel the hype before we even drop. The drop is killer, super hard, amazing sound design, and so many great effects. Yes it's loud, but for this genre, you want it to hit, and it definately delivered. The track reminds me of a darker variant of Future Bass, even if it probably isn't. Whole thing was awesome, enough for the third spot, amazing work!
Meistr - This is one hard hitting grungy track, the guitar tone is killer, and the vocal harmonies are awesome too. The track really does embody the hard grunge sound. Sadly though i personally think this is too hard. It's way overblown, to the point where it might be clipping a bit. I love me a loud genre don't get me wrong, but this feels unintentionally loud. Shame everything else was so good, the idea was lovely. Good job!
Cryref22 - Some very tasty delay here, i really feel like i am in an unsettling land. The melodies are great at the start, i really liked them, but man does it pick up at the end. The melodies towards the end were absolutely beautiful and other worldly. I love the chattering effects in this one too, it adds a nice bit of ambience to the sound. You really do know your way around a melody, this is wonderful. Nothing else to say it was amazing. It was super theme fitting, more than enough for the top spot, incredible work!
Arcana - Not like you to submit late, but it appears you forgot heh, i've done that before with joining compo. The intro is very unassuming, as it sounds like that classic Arcana trance style, yet the drop is so leftfield and dirty i absolutely love it, but it's not a long drop, it only comes in every so often. Lyrics are great and the melodies are really solid. The end part is hyper compressed personally, i felt like it was shoving me into a wall. However i did get to appreciate the sick acid part again. Lots of potential for smoothing, it was really fire. Good job!
BJKMenu - Lol it feels like were just plopped mid song, instead of being given an intro and ending, but i digress. I really like the mellow positive vibes in this one, kind of got a country vibe going on overall. The vocals are a tiny bit quiet, but the rest is very fire. The guitar solo is top notch, incredible solo. Honestly the idea is basically there, it's just an abrupt start and end, and quiet vocals. More to like than dislike, well done!
