TheVideoGamer be killing it with these cool techno tracks. Good job with balancing the tension. I also like that it's not too loud, but still maintains that intensity with the background kick and general vibe.

TheVideoGamer - I won't bore you with all of the details, because this is a very simple track. It's basically thick Augmented 4th's played on a variety of pads, whilst woven in and out. Throughout is Gabber like drums, played using the FireBird VST, instead of a distorted sample, for something cool. The chords start to form a progression by the 1:30 mark, and then the progression loops until the end. There is effects, but mostly in the form of noise crackles, percussion manipulation and arps. Very minor, but does a lot to the groove. That's it really, not much to talk about. There is light and shade parts here, to really and try and vary the extensive repetition this has to offer, so it doesn't become tiring. It's not the most accessible listen, but this theme is quite unorthodox lol. So it depends on how hard and fast you like your music. Glad you took the time to listen anyways!
Lyra_183 - Ooh a 3 minute piece. This is like a full song. I've noticed you tend to go for the Let it Go motif, which is probably unintentional, but interesting nonetheless. It's great though you are creating some really good melodies! I couldn't do not even half of what you do. Keep at it, good job!
Koekepan - Koekepan returns, this time with almost 6 minute entry. Filling the void for the absence of CotMM lol. Interesting ambient sounds here, for a theme that is dark and scary, this is kind of relaxing to be honest lol. It's got a chime like quality, almost close to what you hear outside the house. I forget what they're called, but they rattle with the wind. Lots of cool timbres in each mallet sound. One sounds like a distorted sine wave (That almost eats the mix at parts if i have to be really honest), one sounds like a prepared marimba if you will, and one sounds like filtered glockenspiel. The bassline in this almost reminds me of a synthwave like piece, i don't know. It's definately cool, but i feels more suited for a space like theme, than a theme about spiders. I don't feel scared at all. I do love the presence of a soft synth pluck around 2:30 minutes in. Adds a lot, and reduces some of the repetition in this piece. Whole thing was lovely, even if it doesn't fit the theme for me. Potentially voting worthy, awesome work!
BJKMenu - This is a very lovely funky country rendition of the classic rhyme. Not fitting at all for me, in regards to the theme, and some sounds did come in unexpected and out of place, but the overall rendition is very great. Lots of cool guitar sounds, and synth work. It's very cool, honestly much better than anticipated! This was a ton of fun, so fun i placed it on the third spot! Amazing work!
DarkShadow - Thick kicks this time! Almost reminds me of Luke Vibert. The bassline could not get more aggressive than this. I do like the chaotic arps a lot, but they kind of become meaningless with the intense basslines. I do enjoy this on a fun level, it's a lot of fun, and i am vibing hard to the track, but it can be a little overwhelming, and i say this as a gabber lover, but i feel there is a lot of scope here. Good job though!
thesocialcontract - Nice plucks, a mix between a synth and a guitar. Chords were very cool, i like you chose a Harpsichord for the sound, trying to bridge the old style baroque sounds to the mix. It does seem out of the place the chords at first, but when you introduce other sounds, it all falls into place in a very lovely way. It starts of normal, but then it gets pretty creepy towards the end. I can sense it was all live playing, because there were one or two out of time moments that were a little noticeable. Even with my little quibbles, i still found a lot more to like than dislike it was that good. Also the surprise monologue ending was hilarious haha. I could still potentially vote for this even with all my ramblings. Awesome work!
Arcana - Arcana definately bringing those spooky sounds, but in a trance way. I thought it was your voice, but i think it's an organ patch. I love the processing on your voice, it's a really lovely distortion effect. I feel the orchestral drums and the electronic drums are fighting against each other, which makes this a bit of a conflicted track. You know i was kind of expecting a 4 minute experimental Arcana number, but instead you subverted my expectations with a normal, pop styled Arcana piece. Nothing wrong with that at all, this was lovely. Maybe with a few mixing touches, and possibly dial down some of the orchestral drums, to allow for some of the electronica parts to shine. This was really great though, a ton of fun. Good job!
NickC - Woah that is a quiet waveform. Clearly deliberate, and quite....textural. This is very representative of the theme, kind of sounds like your giving spiders a platform to speak. The industrial clanging beats were different, i thought this was gonna be full on ambient-ish, but no this has some Early NIN vibes to the sound, ignoring the lack of melody. I was struggling to come up with thoughts for this, based on how simple the sounds are, and the drums were sort of the highlight, but then you do a 180 into some super haunting strings and piano, a-la obScene that barely last a minute. I loved that, you could have extended it a bit longer. I mean i never hated the first part, i think for these rounds, i vote for those with a greater emphasis on sound design and texture, than melody per se, but there is a lot of room here for some cool additions. As it stands though, this was absolutely sick and scary, so fitting i ended up choosing this for the top spot, incredible work!
THEGREATDESTROYER22 - No 5 minuter? It's a first i've seen you go to a full on minute. That's even shorter than the shortest CotMM entry lol. But it's ok, not all entries have to be 5 minutes to be epic. This one has a very groovy head bopping beat, and some cool airy textural synths. It's just calling for some vocals, and a piano melody, it definately is the perfect start to something! I can totally see an industrial Cabaret Voltaire style track on here! So much potential, good job!
Misael.K - Oof this is super chill. I love me some chill music, but not what i was expecting for the theme at all. Amazing singing though, i love how well mixed your voice is on here. Sometimes you sing in a way where it's too...quiet, and it becomes hard to listen. In this case, it's in a lovely volume. Despite it's calming nature, i absolutely love the chords, and the light and shade parts. It's easy listening RnB for the soul. Not theme fitting in the slightest, but still definately voting worthy. It's got such a tight beat, some great lyrics, and some really ominous chords. Just awesome stuff. Even if it doesn't fit the theme, i found it so catchy i placed it 2nd. Amazing work!
Coloradoweeks - Shame about your computer crashing on you. But hurray for submitting! Lovely techno vibes in this, with a lot of cool kickdrum syncopations! It's robot spider time! Also like how you create a kind of static monotone vocal effect, it's very cool! It reminds me of some of the stuff Janet Jackson would do in some of her tracks. Not the usual Colorado material, but i am all for it! It's not scary for the theme, but it's definately great, especially repeat worthy! I also feel like we have potential to make it longer, because 1 minute isn't enough for me. Still though, i loved it regardless, definately a contender for the list. Awesome work!
JH Sounds - Pizzicato strings are always welcome here. Loving the chord choices this week man, these are quite the seasonings! The only complaint i have is that the drums are a little too heavy for my liking. An acoustic kit would perhaps fair better here. But this is of course my opinion, some people might think different. The way you've made that melody also seems like it's calling for some JH lyrics. But i do love this idea though, lots of potential, so don't be discouraged. Good job!
