I could so easily have placed these in a different sequence. All were well-crafted, relevant pieces. Treyt won out for a more elegant closure.

I really liked the uplifting beats and the way that it felt like it was carrying me up the mountain in that steady rhythmic way. Nice work TVG.

I'm feeling more strongly towards the tracks that seem to capture the atmosphere and grandeur of the theme, but I couldn't help but have a deep fondness for Treyt's entry.

  1. Koekepan's low drones felt the most large-scale to me. I could feel the landscape forming in my head while listening.
  2. cotmm68030 also did a wonderful job and was a very close second for me. Great atmosphere and airy tones.
  3. Treyt produced a song that was both touching and hilarious because of the background screamo vocals. I loved every second of this and had it been longer, I might have even bumped it up a notch.

@Arcana - Yeah! Lesdooit!!

@Random-storykeeper - Major keys for the win!

@JH Sounds - Is that the 2nd part to the tribology lol.

@Koekepan - I thought that was Afroman lol.

@Misael.K - Really can't go wrong with a 303.

@NickC - Thank Synth1 for that.

@Random-storykeeper - It wasn't what i was expecting either, but when your on a time crunch and ideas aren't working, you resort to alternatives.

@JH Sounds - The mountain that never sleeps lol

@Random-storykeeper - No, but good on you for trying haha.

@Misael.K - Mountain the Everest lol

@CotMM - If it was, i would be doing compo at 5am, not 2am lol.

@Misael.K - The arps have been with us throughout the whole time dude lol.

@Random-storykeeper - It was nice knowing you :)

@Everyone - Thanks for the kind words!

Now then...

TheVideoGamer - This track can be described as a slow building techno like number, but obviously with a happy uplifting melody and a thick acid line. I was initially thinking about something kind of epic, but as with a lot of themes, the ideas were not calling me. I can't really force an idea that doesn't work, because it results in very little progression, so i decided to take a step back, and maybe open myself up to more musical ideas, regardless of whether it fits or not. The track i've made was basically acid techno, so it wasn't the best representation of the theme, but i at least made a track that doesn't suck. I actually like what i've done here. The track is split into basically 3 sections. The main section is a chord progression, some arps and bells, and a melody. The 2nd section is mostly acid material in a stripped down way, and the final section is a more lead solo, that lends it to a more wavy feel. I like it, i think it's pretty dope. Glad you liked it anyways!

Lyra_183 - Lovely singing. This is great. Lots of great potential for this acapella, this is a really nice, good job!

DarkShadow - Ow my ears. Sorry dude, my ears are getting extreme assault this week. I think there is stereo in this? It seems like you've incorporated it from the description. This is the loudest DarkShadow entry of all time, that waveform speaks for itself. Sorry this is a good job!

Greendjsa - Deep bass and nice mallets. It's got a hazy psychedelic feel, especially in the way the bass and mallets blend with each other. I'd say the bassline/pad is a little too heavy, it can take away a little of the mallets, but this one is more on the minor side, as i feel there is a cool pairing within the sound. The melodies are pretty beautiful i will say, especially with the music box sound. This is what ultimately persuaded me to put this in the awesome work category. Well done!

cotmm68030 - No 6 minutes? What's happened? Where's the real CotMM i'm used to!? This has all the characteristics of your sound, but with a lot of reverb compared to normal. It almost sounds like a hurricane but in slow-motion. It definately has parallels to the second image, in that it has a very slow nigh-time brooding feel. Honestly even though to me i sense this as mostly texture and sound design, it's very peaceful and beautiful, very luminescent. It's actually pretty beautiful and emotive for such a very moody piece. I mean ambient music is always gonna be relaxing, but this is very pretty. The ending piano part, kind of ruins it to be honest. However it does play more towards the end, and the playing is quite nice all things considered, so it's still not enough to completely take away the experience. Although the top 3 could have gone in any order, i picked you as 2nd on the back of the wonderful chords and calming nature. Amazing work!

Treyt - Synths and guitar! Metal music! But it's happy and has a punky melody! The vocals are lovely, but alas a little quiet. I feel the metal parts are a bit masked by all of the metal parts. The length wasn't even my criticisms today lol. However as an idea, i loved it. The idea is amazing, and your Songwriting is beautiful, so nothing bad is to be said. I just feel the mixing on the vocals could have propelled this further. Just my opinion. Good job though!

DDRKirby(ISQ) - Really thick pads, really beautiful 7th's in action. It sounds quite epic, even though this is a synth and 8-bit combo. The 8-bit sounds are more background than foreground though, as i feel this is a full on synthwave DnB styled piece. The way the drums filled in were sick, it definately got me in the mood. I love how you take me through so many different moods, even with just 2 chords (Which you think i would be tired, but it's actually the opposite, i love it.). One minute it's quiet and sort of relaxing, and then it's epic and vibrant. I really loved this, lovely strong melodic work throughout. Awesome work!

Koekepan - Deep pads, a Koekepan staple. Lots of great note changes here, i really do love your pad sounds. It sounds like it's playing just one note, but the sound is so full and vibrant, it sounds like 4 different pads, yet it's probably just one. It's also lovely to hear the pads get a little bit more brighter as you listen. If i was being a little nitpicky, i could ask for something more on the high end, maybe more pads or some melody (Just me), but that is again a very minor detail, as everything was lovely, and really got me chilled out throughout. It's just pretty, and done extremely well. Nothing else to say, awesome work!

Coloradoweeks - Smooooth. Thick bass and electric piano vibes. That is a really nice arp sequence, really adds a nice depth to the very minimal feel. i was expecting vocals, and for a while i was sad it wasn't there, but then you decide to bring them out, which i am relieved. The guitar solo was dope, but quite loud in the mix. It was like the main character into the song, when it should all be in harmony. The ending was also abrupt, but i guess that's exclusive to a few tracks by various compo users. Really the track itself was awesome, lots of smooth vibes, great chords and beats. It just needs a bit more finesse personally, but aside from that it was still dope enough for an awesome rating, so well done!

Dex - Mild country vibes in this. Lots of cool chords with a bit of an interesting direction to the whole thing. I wasn't expecting the chords to go in this direction, but it kind of works. Vaguely reminds me of Time after Time. That synth solo really balances out with the guitar, it's both a perfect combo. You do overuse the crash cymbals in some sections, which can make it a bit on the sharp side, but aside from that, you have created some lovely solo melodies here, and the mix is actually pretty good! I dig this a lot, awesome work!

NickC - This is quite cinematic sounding. Belongs to a Hans Zimmer score for an space like movie. It's quite deep and moody, and the chords are very free flowing. It's rarely on beat, and sounds like it's deliberately meant to pass you by. The glockenspiel and harp is a bit buried in this one, but they are not completely hidden, it's just a case of bringing them up a lil. The chords are wonderful, and the slow strings that build up throughout is just a lovely touch. Your weird spices always throw me for a loop in the most beautiful way. The ending got me, this was amazing. Although the top 3 could have gone in any order, i went with this as the third spot on the back of the wonderful cinematic chords and melodies. Amazing work!

Arcana - Folky Arcana? I'm into that a lot. Although sadly i can detect a logic guitar when i see it. But i don't degrade someone for using stock plugins, they are wonderful and should be treated as such. The melodies are lovely, and the guitar chords are quite melancholic. They're are moments where the melody doesn't match the chords, but this could be a personal taste thing. It is also quite short, i feel like we could have a B section with a bit more of a dynamic shift. I feel like i am being build into something more....climatic, but it never comes. It has a lot of potential is what i'll say. Good job though!

Random-storykeeper - Lot of strings this week, both synth and non synth. That is quite the chill tune, i'm kind of jealous that i didn't go this route, but again bad habits can surprise me sometimes. That delay synth is very delightful, it really brings out the C418 in this piece (I know it's a lame comparison lol, it's a cliché at this point). The delay synth is a bit forward throughout the mix, i would have made it a little more background, or at least bring forward the strings to match. However none of this diminishes the track, it still sounds lovely, and the synths are beautiful. It's more so, about letting some of the better parts shine. However though this is still beautiful, especially in the chords and synths. None of my comments change how beautiful this is. The ending was unexpected and very creative. Rise up until we no longer exists. Although the top 3 could have gone in any order, i went with this as number one, simply on how it grew on repeat listens, and how well done the chords are. Incredible work!

Misael.K - 6 minute Misael let's goo! Already quite deep pads. Liking the guitar and it's effects. It has a bit of a cold feeling to the sound. It reminds me a lot of the Koekepan entry to be honest, but with a bit more of a free flowing-ness to the the vibe. It's got a lot of hidden 7th chords in this. Because the track is quite deep, the chords are not so easy to decipher, even though it's pretty chill and melody. Some parts of the guitar does get blocked by the pads, but i'm ok with that, as you had a specific feel in mind. The new textures that come in through within the guitar is a nice touch, no matter how subtle. This was quite big sounding to say it's a chill piece. Love this one a lot, it was very beautiful, awesome work!

JH Sounds - Solo piano is always a treat. This does not sound like Logic, but either the Pianoteq app or a live piano. It's got a nice reverb actually, and a very adventurous harmony. It's quite simple rhythmically, with a lot of pauses for really nice effect, but the melodies are quite complex. This is lovely, well done!

Ethansight - That is a cool synth, it sounds like a vocal sample, but it's not. Great drum build there. Not expecting psytrance, but damn it's got a great beat and acid synth. It's got a very moody yet slow building chord progression, with all the classic Ethansight chords i love. The build was very nice, and really turned it into a dark and minimal track into more adventurous sounds. This one was lovely, well done!

Top 3 - Random-storykeeper, cotmm68030, NickC.

Choosing the top 3 was very hard (Like very very hard) this week, so these could have gone in any order. Took me a while delegating, so i just went with my judgement.
