Suzums had a pleasantly sound designed approach, which also had a bit of a pun.
CotMM68030 had a pleasant palette with melodic elements that captured elements of the scene.

@CotMM - ♫ "Cover it with chocolate and a miracle or two" ♫
@Ace - More or less it is. Thanks for the nice words!
@Arcana - I don't sing, so i don't often encounter the need to mix vocals, but you could listen to vocals from different genres maybe, do a bit of research? So like Daft Punk styled vocals or some kind of Muse vocal style or something. I don't know, i'm primarily an instrumental guy. Just my 2 cents.
@Arcana - I try and make something normal, and it ends up being not normal haha.
@Arcana - I appreciate the connoisseur in you, when it comes to critiquing music lol. Thanks for the nice words!
@CotMM - Well i didn't want it to become a bit on the repetitive side, so i decided to change it up a little...
@Misael.K - Even when i try to make ambient music i still thrown in a beat or two haha.
@Misael.K - I take it that's your favourite musical motif ;)
@Suzums - Always fun when TVG's around lol.
@Misael.K - Untz? This is barely a rave tune mate lol.
@Arcana - Yep that is definately a Delay.
@Arcana - Yep that is definately a Delay.
@Arcana - Yep that is definately a Delay.
@Arcana - Yep that is definately a Delay.
@Everyone - Thanks for the kind words!
Now then...
TheVideoGamer - This track started out as a simple arp, that i then decided to take it further transforming it into a varied chord progression, than a simple loop. It was originally 4/4, but then i'm like, i haven't done a 3/4 in a while so....here we are. I kept on layering the arpeggio to make it nice and thick, and then used the large open space of the theme to make it more epic, by adding in a choir and some epic pads. When there was a nice completed sequence i topped it off with a Synth1 melody and made it almost like one long solo. One day i'll do jazz with like 50 different chords, assuming the dastardly clock doesn't catch up to me lol. From there i was changing the chords through new sequences, adding in a beat, and a last minute shoehorned ending because...well....time. I had 5 minutes left before i had no choice but to export. I really dig this a lot, beautiful chords. Not my finest mix, but it was something i could expand upon in the future. Glad you liked it anyways!
THEGREATDESTROYER22 - Really cool detuned piano, sounds like an old tape machine. You took the concept of being stranded alone, and really made it dark. I'm looking at nice open view, breath-taking. In your vision, were gonna die haha. The guitar parts are a little bit too loud and a bit...over the top. The ambience is lovely, but i feel it could do with a bit more melody, a bit more variation in the drums, tone down the guitar a bit, more chords. It has a lot of potential though, it's got a really nice groove, and a lovely idea. Good job!
Lyra_183 - Lovely singing. This is a great acapella for someone to add a beat to. Surprised i haven't done that yet lol. It has a lot of potential, sound great. Hope your having a great time at REACH! Good job!
Koekepan - I find it amusing how we have one big impact as the loudest part of the entry, and then we remain on a quiet streak for the remain 5:30 lol. That synth sounds like it was played live, but the delay sounds time synced, so i'm actually....a little stumped. This is a little more drone focused, with a little more of a repetitive styled melody compared to some of your other melodies you've done. The delay effects are really mesmerizing to be honest. You can never tell when it comes in, it's kind of creative. I personally think the drone aspect has room for expansion. It feels like an Audiovisual thing, for a museum. I feel like i wouldn't get the maximum enjoyment listening to this for 10 minutes using nothing but a pad and a synth, which i'm sorry if that's rough. I feel the synth might be better if it's a little more like a bell than a keyboard pluck sound who knows. The idea was absolutely rad though, definately a lot of fun, and sounds great for expansion. Good job!
Nukage - Dam that is the loudest Nukage waveform i've ever seen. My ears are really getting a battering with the onslaught of extremely dirty basslines. The drop was extremely fire (Which looking back, is not actually a drop persay haha)....which is expected, you are the master of Dubs n Wubz. Fire compression, really lovely arpeggiated melody. The kick could be fine tuned better, but then again, maybe it's not my preference for a laser styled kick. This one is all about the ambience, with very little build-ups, instead opting for a slow stop and start approach (Whilst keeping the dirty basslines). This does make it a bit of a tiresome listen towards the end, but i'm probably not well versed in this style enough to make a full judgement. Like with others it has a lot of potential. Good job!
DarkShadow - What's this? Where's the loud waveform? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH THE REAL DARKSHADOW!!?? Even with the quiet waveform, it's still hectic and chaotic, getting practically into drill and bass territories. The melody is all over the shop, as it is with basically all DarkShadow entries, and it does make it really hard to decipher at the end, with it's balls to the wall sound assault lol. However it was fun, your entries are always fun to listen to. Good job!
DDRKirby(ISQ) - Nice delay on the piano, this is some really intricate synthwave DnB and i'm all for it. The chords are a delight, I love it when expectations are subverted. This is not your C and F, this is almost bordering on 9ths and Sus 4ths. The melody and chords are...very eargasm. The switchup was insane. It's practically a 2nd track almost. I mean i don't know what to say......you make super strong stuff, but this is like on par or better than some of your best stuff you've ever made. This is just soo goood, extremely well produced. I so wanted this to be on the list, but i can only choose 3. This would be 4th place if there were to be one. Amazing work!
cotmm68030 - CotMM is just our 6 minute man every week, and i'm all for it. Listening to this round so far, has made me realize i'm the only one that went the happy route lol. Lots of lovely granular delays in this, as well as some rich textural ambience and a lovely pad playing a very calm progression. It's like were in some factory almost, but in a very spacious soundscape. Now i'm gonna say that this sounds like a Kalimba, but then i'll get a PM saying it's actually some Lightbulb placed underwater or something haha. I can never tell, you always switch expectations. It has a tint of minimalism in this, despite the lovely vibrant pad chords, the way it flows is...just beautiful. I actually love this, you've created some lovely chords, great deep textures, and a lovely slow arrangement that i could listen to for hours. My personal favourite track from you to date, this was gorgeous. So gorgeous it was picked for the 2nd spot. Incredible work!
Wassup Thunder - Soundfont time! I don't know the system, but i assume GBA. You didn't mention the system in this. Sadly despite the lovely melody work, it does need a bit of mixing. The drums are very quiet, and the bassline is a bit flat in the mix. However that brass melody at the end was super fire, really made it shine. I know i'm not known for perfect mixes too, and my entry could have done with a bit of a better mix, but this does have potential it was lovely. Good job!
Souperion - Loving that Asian inspired melody. Or it could also be Medieval inspired, both have similar approaches i guess. The rock opera style is strong here, i really feel the epic final battle before the end credits. Now you did say it was squashed, and i disagree i think the layering is fine. It's more of a balancing issue. Some parts are too upfront, some are too in the back. But really the big one for me, is the fact that when i was getting into it, i was getting the signal that the piece is over. More expansion to flesh out the melodies would make this awesome, but i am aware we only get 1 hour and 30 minutes to play with (1hr production time, 10 to mix, 10 to upload, and the rest for upload problems). Still sounds lovely though, good job!
Handknit - Interesting sounds here, it's like your vocalising a bassline with some wah wah like sounds. Now it sounds like a synth preset to me, and not a real vocal (Because let's be real, singing in that style would really make you tired), especially with how it's played. Now sadly this track is way too short, the real meat starts 15 seconds in. I also feel like there is a lot of scope for other ideas, than a vocalized bass synth, but it sounds like a fine start to me. Good job!
Chaseracer - Ok hear me out, but are you a relative of Coloradoweeks? (Dammit TVG, asking the awkward questions...). We have a regular called Coloradoweeks, and your singing style totally reminds me of her. The track is actually great, very Pop EDM with a lovely groove, and a lovely melody. Lyric writing is top notch. This is screaming for a chord progression, and a bassline, and maybe an extra minute or two as well. Everytime i put this on, i would be humming a bassline for no reason. Maybe that's what i am lol. Awesome lyrics though, great potential. Good job!
NickC - 4 minute NickC is the best NickC :). Lots of fading chords, reminds me to the intro of an obscure Deadmau5 song called Oblistique. Fading Major 9ths or something like that before a bombastic Drill n Bass beat powers through (The Deadmau5 song, not this). I am reminded of the most weirdest tunes when it comes to you lot lol. Pretty chords, always nice to hear the spices thrown in, especially when it comes to around the 2 minute mark. This is beautiful, and emotional. Exceptionally pretty, and theme fitting, lots of wonderful sounds. Even with the spices thrown in, it just makes me sleepy and content. The different time signature changes and key changes also add some really cool stuff to this. The whistle melody is just absolutely delightful. Another one of my absolute favourites from you, So much so, i picked it for the top spot. Incredible work!
Misael.K - Vinyl Breaks for the win! Now that is some sweet smooth Misael Jazz if i've ever heard it. All we need now is a rapper on this, and it's like some Sophisticated Dr. Dre song haha. The piano is definately live here, as the beat is heavily quantized, but the piano parts are not. Loving the deep piano stabs, how little it takes to change a mood merely by the register of your piano. I love the pad backing, this is super pretty actually. The piano is very aggressive, perhaps a bit too loud personally, but it does make for something cinematic. Even though it could do with a few touches, i'm still gonna give you this, because the melodies were absolute fire. Awesome work!
Suzumebachi - Nice harmonics on the guitar. It's got this really nice live feel, which i'm 90 percent sure this is a real guitar. Lots of cool smooth chops, and that fade in pad is a beautiful touch. It feels like this is an OST to a western game. The weird organ sound was a lovely touch. Funky but calming at the same time. Loving how all the sounds fade in, from a simple guitar to a full guitar backing, and then pads and strings. The chords at the end, were magical, but this is Suzumebachi level harmony were talking about right? Absolutely beautiful stuff, picked this for the 3rd spot. Amazing work!
Arcana - Before i listen, i must commend you on your progress. You have come so far from your first vocal entry i've heard from you. You really are improving. Your voice is starting to become more on tune, and there is a really nice sense of dynamics in your voice. It does need a bit more work sure, you do tend to have a habit of mixing your vocals at a very loud volume, and the drums in this are a bit quiet. I am aware of the time limit, and what i can do to people, so i know this isn't always easy for some. Great effort though, good job!
Top 3 - NickC, cotmm68030, Suzumebachi.
Wow either i am really harsh in my critique, or my standards are getting too high, it's unfortunate how many entries i've put in the good job section. I'm sorry about that guys....
These 2 entries were absolutely fire, i wish they were on the list:
DDRKirby(ISQ) (Dear god, the amount of pain i had to go through to deny this on the list, this one was amazing. If there is a 4th place, this would be it.)
