Fledgeling's Trial
Souperion -
Wing Dance
Meistr -
Dive Bombing
Dex
Souperion had a pastoral sound as well as artistic polyphony between the various instruments, which wins points with me.
Meistr did an artistic blend for fore- and background, although I felt that the pace was too stately, and the rhythmic base too heavy-handed for the theme.
Dex captured the light, frantic motions of a fledgeling trying to take wing for the first time.

DDRKirby had a nice song with a good story attached to it that to me felt really on the theme. From the nice square waves and the pulsing wind in the background, and the really nice rise to the break and then the return of the guitar-like instrument, there's a lot going on and it's all very lovely to listen to. Very uplifting.
Dex, I liked the movements - from the big exciting part, and then a quiet break, and then the return with the heavy guitars and the exciting drums. The major chord ending really cheesy.
Barley had great clean vocals and there was a lot of evolution throughout in the song to transition to a more minimalist, but still distorted part featuring the guitar and the synth. I thought it was unique.

@Wassup Thunder - Sounds like a siren when you write it like that lol.
@Misael.K - Or maybe the prelude to the end credits of a video game, when the boss has been defeated and the whole town is saved.
@Souperion - Somebody's having fun lol.
@Misael.K - It was not my intention to be comical, however being cute was lol. I guess interpretations are a thing...
@Wassup Thunder - Ok that is actually a pretty good gif for this track.
@Everyone - Thanks for the kind words! Not many to reply to tonight, but then again i only made 3 minutes of music, and there wasn't many in chat at the time. Oh well...
Now then...
TheVideoGamer - This is unfortunately not a 6 minuter from me, as i spent a lot of time on the chords and melody for this. I'm not just looping a chord sequence, but am creating various progressions throughout the whole piece. Were talking like 20 chords total, just for a 3 minute piece. It took up a lot of time. Also factor in that i was initially hesitant about my idea, as i was trying to make it epic sounding, but then i thought maybe i should scale it back a bit. In the end, the result that i've shared with you, is based on how much work it took trying to make the chords and melody work. The best i can describe this, is like a mix of some kind of faux synth orchestral piece, mixed in with some trance like synths of some kind. I don't have the capacity to talk through the chords in this short paragraph, but i will say we have a few cool noodles in this, that you wouldn't expect from a chord. I'm actually sort of proud of this one, and i hope to see it expanded upon soon. Maybe into a 6 minute piece one day ;) All in all, i'm glad you liked it!
cotmm68030 - Had a nice sleep lol. Nice to see you wake up and make us something, even if you are tired lol. The textures are great in this, sounds like were in some abandoned factory, but with a bit of liveliness thrown in. To say it sounds like it came from broken headphones to me is not true. It sounds really nicely balanced, has a lot of great atmosphere, and honestly i could see myself listening to this in a movie sense. Not fitting to the theme if i have to be honest, and probably a bit on the...minimalistic side. I feel like there should be a little more, however i am also drawn into the minimalism, so listens like these are hard, because i get mixed feelings. In terms of sound design i love it. In terms of the OHC round....honestly, maybe not (Which is not a negative, i just feel like this could be expanded upon) Good job though!
DarkShadow - The return of the DarkShadow synths. The kicks in this one sound like Alien lasers lol. Also your melodic content is quite...out there, i don't think i know of an artist who is like you, which is a good thing and a strange thing lol. The melodies in this one are quite captivating, but alas it's not really my cup of tea, sorry. Good job though!
THEGREATDESTROYER22 - I don't think i've heard you, so you must be new. Greetings, i like the bird sounds, super cool, and the drums are nice and tight. The melody is hard to decipher here personally, and the chords don't really go anywhere. Bird sounds could also be a tad bit overused. However i still think this is great, has a lot of potential for new instruments, new drum ideas. It sounds like a good idea. Ending is funny lol, good job!
Koekepan - Chill Koekepan strikes again. Really liking the mallets in this one. It's got some nice open notes, to really accentuate that calming nature. The melody is nice and tight in this one, even if it's simple quarter notes. Not a complex piece, but it works super well. I love the slow progression in this. It goes from something moody into something more cinematic. It still is in the realm of minimal ambient music as such, but it's very relaxing. I honestly loved this, enough for you to be on the 3rd spot! Amazing work!
Meistr - Ooh nice strings, loving the 7th chords in this, kind of got a mix of EDM and strings which is a lovely touch. The bassline in this is very deep i like it a lot. Drum work is super compressed in a lovely way, and the chords and melody are epic. I do like how it's not just a 4 chord progression, even if it gives us that impression. The transition into a more orchestral section was a great touch. The idea is lovely, despite the slight repetition, especially the orchestral parts, they were great. I'll give you this one, well done!
Souperion - Ooh that string progression has a bit Chinese flair to the sound. The melody and chords sound familiar, but i'm not sure. The whole thing screams Chinese to me, it's actually pretty beautiful, i love that flute sound. Great developments, it's got some lovely developments in the melody. I could actually see this in a nature documentary or something. Probably one of your strongest entries to date, loved it, so much so i gave it the 2nd spot on the list! Amazing work!
Wassup Thunder - And now we eurobeat! Long time no see dude, i haven't heard from you in ages. The melodies are definately you, once i heard that style i knew it was you instantly. You do eurobeat soo well. The drums are lovely, and the melodies are strong. Not theme fitting in my opinion, it's the last thing when i see the theme, but i cannot deny it's groovy. There's nothing to hate here, it's good stuff. Well done!
DDRKirby(ISQ) - The square waves instantly tell me were getting into a DDR type beat. Loving the fade in pads, generated from NES squarewaves. Super cool and kind of feels like were flying in some kind of NES game, but with modern production. Piano was a beautiful touch, really lovely adventurous chords. The breakdown was unexpected, but was sort of signalling were gonna buildup to a drop. So far it's not happened, but i can sense were gonna get into it. I love the ambience in this, extremely beautiful stuff. Perfect for the theme. It's one of these tracks where the best kind is the simple kind. When the drums do come in, it's like towards the end, but it's extremely satisfying when it does. Perfect hype into the drums. This is just honestly beautiful, even if it has no drums, so beautiful, i gave it the top spot! Incredible work!
Barley - Cool harmonics in the guitar. This is a very texture based piece. It works well with the drums. When the rest of the guitar comes in, it really ups the melodic content, into something semi-psychedelic and peaceful. The clean guitar that appears in the middle is a little out of place for me, a little dissonant personally. Sounds like were in D major, and then we have C Major or A minor? I do love the sudden electric guitar that comes, that was a great switch up. So far this is a really nice journey. If you did some ironing out, and some changes here and there, it would be one hell of an amazing experience. Probably my favourite Barely entry in quite some time, lovely idea worthy of expansion. Good job!
Dex - That piano lick reminds me of back. Or maybe Dragonforce i don't know lol. The square melody is lovely, really goes great with the guitar and piano work. Sounds like a mixture of a Soundfont and live Guitar, which is quite interesting to me. Maybe i was expecting something different. I do like the melodies here a lot, but maybe i'm not really feeling the soundfont, makes everything sound artificial, and maybe fake? Closer to a MIDI rip maybe, which i apologise if it sounds harsh, i'm trying to be honest as i can at 1 in the morning. Oh well, idea was lovely though, good job!
Nukage - Not even an intro, straight into the buildup. The dubstep in this is sooooo DIRTYTYYYY. This is some fire ass dubstep, i love how it rattles in my brain, and the vocal were a beautiful touch. Amazing dubstep Nukage, just wish it wasn't 1 minute. IT'S TOO SHORT! Awesome work!
Arcana - The bell sounds like were at Christmas lol. Your vocals are very cool in this, sounds like were in some kind of fantasy land. Great melodies. Also sounds a little bit east Asian in parts? Mostly in the melodies, not in the sound or style. I hope nobody feels like i'm stereotyping. The idea is very beautiful, i think you should keep the droney vocals in, it makes for one amazing listen. The singing parts were great too, but personally i prefer the airy vocal parts. It's probably a bit minimal, but if i have to be honest it's my favourite you've done in a long time. So much so, i was very close to giving to you, i loved it. Maybe on a different day i might have given you this, but as of now, good job!
JH Sounds - Really great strings and chords in this, reminds me of a track, but i don't know the name of. You always do such lovely lyric writing, the whole thing is a ton of fun. Some parts feel like your are hitting the highest register possible for your range, which i'm not sure if your struggling, or if it's just maybe my listening. I'm still gonna give you this, because it was lovely lyric writing, and a ton of fun. Well done!
Misael.K - Ooh nice of you to give you a chord sheet for this. It means i could remix it, and or perform it. That's nice of you. Your chord progression in this just screams Beatles, this whole song just reminds me of the Beatles. I need a bassline and a guitar on this to really bring this to life. So far it sounds like a perfect start to something, that could really work into a kind of rock piece. Singing was lovely, if maybe a tad quiet (I'm sorry if it sounds like i'm rude). Taste is personal, but there is a lot of potential here. Good jon!
obScene - 1 minute obScene let's go! Loving the sounds here, got a lot of airy textures, that's a kind of mix between weirdly warming, and dissonant horror like effects. Not the most theme fitting, and honestly i'd argue a weird minute of cool sounds. It doesn't even sound like it's potentially complete per say, but rather you started late, and so you made this in probably 20 minutes. I don't blame you, i've done this before on many occasions. Lovely idea, ripe for expansion, good job!
Top 3 - DDRKirby(ISQ), Souperion, Koekepan.
Nukage also deserved to be on the list. I wish it wasn't just a minute though :(
