One Hour Compo - Round 733 (OHC733)
I unfortunately left this to the last minute, so everything i listen to, is going to be a tad bit rushed, i'm sorry....
Not gonna reply to comments, as i don't have time. Thanks for the love anyways!
TheVideoGamer - I basically made a uplifting almost child like melody, that get's contrasted with some very Halloween like samples. It's combining the most happiest with the most disturbing. Some people got pretty sick of it after like 4 minutes lol, which meant my idea worked. I wasn't making the most listenable, but more so the most disturbing. Thanks for the kind words!
Lyra_183 - Nice singing, totally sets itself up for a beat. Good job!
DarkShadow - Typical DarkShadow sound eh? Very dubstep-py in this one, and has a very weird (And spooky lol) melody. Not my favourite sadly. Good job!
cotmm68030 - For a spooky theme this was actually quite relaxing. It felt like i was in some kind of cave. It was unsettling, but not spooky, more like it was a chill piece. From what i heard, nothing stood out, it was a lovely piece, awesome work. I ended up picking you for the 3rd spot.
DDRKirby(ISQ) - Totally fits the High Energy NES sound, but with that modern almost EDM production. Not related to OHC, but all the same it was a banger, and was bopping my head. Well done!
elbobbo_music - It sure was unsettling. It felt like you took a nice simple melody, but really made it detuned and weird, to give you the sense you are not alone. There didn't seem to anything wrong production wise, it was a fun piece with a really cool melody, well done!
Nukage - Despite the loud waveform, the track itself was actually really tightly mixed. I dig the synths in this, gotta get the Reese bass power in this. Super tight drums, lovely stuff, well done!
Meistr - Can't believe you trolled me with the lick lol. I was getting hyped, and then you did a 180 on me lol. The drop itself was very tight, almost syncopated. Not the most theme accurate personally, this was too hype for my liking, but all the same, i was struggling to find anything bad, and the fact i laughed was enough to sway it for me. Well done!
Misael.K - Sounds like one long drone, but with creeping melodies coming in and out. They're moments where the drone fades out and were left with mostly percussion, but of course these are very small moments, as for the most part it's the drone you are selling to us. Now the idea is great, but i can't tell if you are trying to add drums, as they are mixed quiet, especially with the drone being so powerful. Also this is quite relaxing, i was more sleepy than scared in this one. Now you can blame me for not giving these entries the proper time it's due, because i was late on the voting, but in this case, i felt like it was a Good Job, sorry!
Dex - Maybe it's my track that has caused this, but i was expecting some king of Jumpscare or other creepy thing, in the mist of all this happy fun time lol. The track is way too uplifting for this sort of thing, although i am aware you've admitted to it. Now that's not a concern to me. Sometimes a track so good, despite it not being relevant to the theme, is enough for me to put it in the awesome category. Now personally i do feel it needs a bit of mixing, as i felt everything was a little stiff and mechanical, with little to no reverb. But the melodies were pretty, so i'll give you that. Good job!
DJohn - Sorry dude, but this is a rare moment where i'm afraid it's a good job. The idea is lovely, i love the melody, the tight trap beats, and your voice is lovely as always, but what sets it down is the mixing. Your voice is a little buried in this one, the melody is also toned down. I just feel the trap beats (Or RnB beats if you feel like you wanna be specific), are very in your face, which i can tell from listening and from looking at the wave form. If anything i feel the kick is at the forefront, and the 808 is at the back (Even though in trap, the 808 is the star of the show). Good job though, i did love the idea!
obScene - Lots of really cool spooky melodies here. Has that lovely classic obScene sound, of really intense piano chops, and string scrapes. However in this one, the dark ambient is amplified, so it sounds closer to the sound of hazy wind, or something else spooky. We still hear the orchestrations, but in a more forest sort of setting, if you get my poor analogy. Fits the theme perfectly. Abrupt end, but amazing work! I picked you for the 2nd spot.
Arcana - Again i didn't have time to properly sit down and listen to these, so feel free to hate me, if my options don't seem as detailed, or you feel it's not right. I should remember to be more on time lol. The vocals seem deliberately out of tune in this, and the pad sounds are a little chromatic, but this is all a compliment not a negative. The only real criticism i have of this, is there are moments where your voice is overtaken by the pads, and the way you've sung the lyrics do make it a little hard to follow along. However i did have fun with this, it was really nice. Good job!
NickC - Delightfully spooky, it has a lot of dissonance, and a perfect balance of dynamics. It builds up in this whole mesh of scary textures. Totally imagine i'm watching a horror movie. Even with the lack of melody, the feeling was there, and the mix was lovely. The drums were a nice touch, although i would have gone for something a little louder, but that's just me. Extremely fitting to the theme, it was super lovely, excellent work! I picked you for the top spot.
Coloradoweeks - Punk rock! I'm listening to the final version on the discord, so if i vote for this, it's for the full render, not the 12 second version. It's got a really nice drum groove in this, and a great guitar lick, even if it's a little buried for my liking (If i was listening to this properly, maybe my opinion would change. Feel free to hate lol). The vibe was great though, this is some seriously good punk rock. Honestly despite the guitar, everything else was lovely, well done!
JH Sounds - Pop trap? Sounds like it. Lovely singing as always, you write such great lyrics. Always have fun with your pieces. Nothing else to say, well done!
Top 3 - NickC, obScene, cotmm68030.
My top 3 could potentially change, if i was doing this properly lol.
I was also a big fan of Coloradoweeks (Even despite my little tidbits), and Meistr (Which made me laugh a bit).
