The ghost of Jarski made me do it.

More seriously, I like Gario's concept and delivery.

@Misael.K - Any room with a view really lol

@Suzums - It's become a bit of a theme around Halloween...

@Gario - The guy never gets tired of walking eh?

@Misael.K - I don't know him either haha

@Gario - LOUD NOISES lol

@Suzums + Elbobbo - Not what you would find sure, but all the same they do scare the crap out of me lol. It kind of works...

@Misael.K - That gif is fitting and weird....

@Mister Fox - I mean what do you expect, it's a horror theme lol.

@Misael.K - Or it could be a ghost ooooo...

@Gario - I'm surprised he hasn't had a heart attack form all that breathing lol.

@Misael.K - "The Loudest Duck in all of New Jersey"

@Suzums - Hi there haha

@Misael.K - It's alive! Run for your lives!!!

@Suzums - Suddenly you're about to die music lol

@Gario - It's not going to end well...

@Mister Fox - Probably 60 percent samples 40 percent synths.

@Atmospherium - I have no clue why i chose to use Michael Scott for this part. I've single handedly ruined the moment with a meme. But in my defence this was the end of the composition, where i had 5 minutes left before the round closed to submit.

@Misael.K - STAND BACK, I HAVE A TORCH AND I'M NOT AFRAID TO USE IT!

@Mister Fox - I'll let you know when i get the cease and desist letter from ABC, CBS or NBC lol.

@Treyt - NOOO! DON'T EAT ME PLEASE I BEG OF YOU!!

@Gario - Happy Halloween ;)

@Misael.K - RIP Mystery person...

@Everyone - Thanks for the kind words!

Now then...

TheVideoGamer - This track is essentially a soundscape (Like my others i've done of a similar style), comprising of drones and sound effects. The goal here is obviously to freak you out, which i might have failed with a bit too much humour, but hey ho, it was made in an hour. We start by ripping open a door, switching on our torch, and then begin walking. The guy proceeds to bang his head whilst yelping in pain. As he continues walking he steps on a dog toy frightening him, as well as witnessing a light bulb shatter also scaring him. The end of the piece, involves an encounter with a stranger, who says hello in a creepy voice (Alongside contributions from Lionel Richie and Adele), causing the guy to be super uncomfortable. He begins to run before the stranger slowly marches towards him (In what sounds like a robot). The man slams the door and locks it, but is unfortunately not safe by the stranger, who pounds on the door and rips off the wood (A la The Shining). No one knows how it ends, we assume he was killed. I would have loved for this to be 6 minutes, but i spent a little too long on some of the samples for this piece. Time crunch eh? I like this kind of piece, where it tells a story through pure sound and imagination. Yeah the one i did for Round 704 is probably better layed out than this, but i still like it. Hope you do too!

Lyra_183 - Ooh sound effects! Then again i think a lot of people will be using sound effects. Digging these pad like sounds, the vocal effects are quite awesome. I really like it when you add unexpected musical elements to your tracks, really makes it more spooky. Honestly, i enjoyed this a lot, so i'll give it to you. Well done!

Atmospherium - Spooky drones. I expect nothing in this theme will be happy, regardless who submits. I also feel there will be a lot of scary vocals in some of these submissions. The textures here definately remind me of CotMM. It's almost like a relative or something lol. It gets very dense very quickly, but at the same time it really amps up the fear factor. Theme relevancy is nailed here, but it's not a piece you wanna listened whilst sleeping lol. I really enjoyed this spooky drone piece, awesome work!

Meistr - I can see the waveform lol, so the trick won't really work. Despite that, it's a very quiet waveform, with some seriously strange textures. I don't know what you've done for the processing, but i love it. Lots of great SFX and processing. I don't know who to compare it to, but it's very Dark Ambient/CotMM styled (Expect a lot of comparisons to CotMM lol). The textures are so weird and cool, i can't tell, but it might be samples here, processed to oblivion. Long story short, this was weird and awesome, well done!

Koekepan - Ooh this is slightly space like. It has a lot of very cool chords and melodies. Less spooky, more traditional sounding. It's got a hint of science fiction to it. Super calming stuff, with a slight edge to make it more of a unsettling experience. Chord changes were super lovely, nothing else to say, awesome work!

Dex - Sweet Pizz bassline, kind of sneaky sounding, i expect this for like an Animated T.V show for Children. The brass flares and timpani came as a surprise, almost like a Jumpscare in itself. Parts of it sound like Pirate music lol. That's not necessarily a negative, but it does make it more light-hearted. As a piece, the orchestrations were great, and the melodies were super fun. However it's not spooky at all for me, or at least very little of it was spooky, so it's not really theme accurate. Sorry dude, but good job!

cotmm68030 - 6 minutes has become the norm for you lol. I'm loving the delay effects, it presents itself as this cool rhythm. Lovely textures as always, i'd figure this theme would be fitting for you. It sounds like a wailing ghost haha. The pads are sooo soothing and calming, to say this is a Dark Noisy Piece almost. Like Ambient Music for the undead. It's very chill. The rhythms are very granular in nature. It's very fitting to the theme, extremely nerve-racking. It's just awesome, so awesome, i ended up picking it for the 2nd spot. Incredible work!

DarkShadow - Sort of Psytrance Hardcore Dubstep? I find it hard to comment on this, because one, it's literally under 40 seconds, and two, i was struggling to even follow along the notes/rhythms lol. Good job though!

Ethansight - Techno les goo. Like the beat, very tight grooves. Chords are great, augmented and 7th chords always go down well. It's got some very cool detune in the sounds, makes it almost microtonal. The dubstep parts get buried in the mix especially when the arps come in, and the whole thing in general in my opinion could do with a bit more mixing, especially the kick, which could do with a tad bit more compression. Idea was awesome, but has a lot of potential. Good job though!

Barley - Always appreciate children coming to help out :) I like how tight the beats are this. Normally i'm used to your beats being buried, but the drums here were at an amazing volume. I'm impressed that your daughter can sing! Like there were moments it felt like there was actual singing going on, great phrasing. It sounds very cute. Is this fitting to the theme? Well if you compare a 3 year old to a ghost, maybe. But i feel this is not the intention, so maybe not. I like the lo-fi noise rock feel, but i was more smiling and maybe doing a bit of UWU than getting spooked out. Great mix however, the mixing is really good here, and it was a ton of fun. Good job!

Treyt - Ahh yes Skrillex lol. Sound design is killer here, lotta granular going on. Great wubs in the background, would totally destroy any set, as a perfect intro. I mean if you removed the Skrillex references, this could easily be perfect as a set up to a drop. Feels incomplete because of it sure, however the sounds were pretty great, and totally fits the unerving anticipation. Well done!

elbobbo_music - Happy go fun times in the land of darkness and torches. I guess you find it uplifting to search an abandoned room with potential to be harmed lol. The sound work here is pretty cute, and the way you made the melodies are pretty nice. It's just way too uplifting for this theme. I wanted to be spooked, not go into rainbow land lol. Sorry dude, sounds great but completely not fitting to the theme at all. Good job though!

Misael.K - Piano chords, with lots of cool spicy notes added for that strange experience. "Where am i?" Is exactly what this piece is telling me. The melody screams Misael.K complete with the synth to boot. It's very quiet in comparison to the rest. So much so it's weirdly distorted, I feel nuance is needed for the mix, it's a bit hard to decipher the melody. The chords are amazing, and the sounds were lovely, but there is touches here to be added. I don't know what to think about this one. In terms of the idea, and the arrangement, it's awesome. The chords were just soo good (I love me the spices in them chords), and i got a huge knack out of the melody, however mixing touches are needed here, and it is a little on the loud side specifically in the middle. I ended up giving it to you, however just barely. The arrangement itself just prevented me from giving this a Good Job. Well done!

Gario - I appreciate a good Glockenspiel. The drop (If you were to call it that), was very cool. Lots of alien like synths in this one, has a lot of microtonal parts. The melody is very vibrant, really adds a bit of cool sparkle to the piece. Time Signatures were cool also. It's very detuned to the point where it's kind of dissonant but yet it's not. Maybe it needs a bit of refining to perfect the alien aesthetic in the sounds (I need to get use to the intense detune), but besides that it sounds very lovely, especially in the great melodies. Loved this, well done!

Handknit - More quiet waveforms lol. Now these are some alien synths if i've ever heard them. It's like an Electric Piano gone through some Wah Wah and reverbs (But in a more extreme experimental way). The guitar work is very nice, but kind of calming. This round is a little hard, as we are presented with a strange but spooky theme, and that means a lot of tracks are very experimental. So it becomes a question of "At what point does this go beyond simply fitting the theme, and becoming a piece of music i can listen to and enjoy". I feel a lot of tracks for this round, fit the theme extremely well but don't really have a long term listening effects. Your track is like that sadly. Totally see myself getting spooked by the sounds in conjunction to the theme, however the direction is a little weird. It's hard to explain, because the guitar and the EP sounds different, like it belongs to 2 different tracks, the waveform is very quiet, and the hollow synth at around 1:30 detracts a little from the mood. All i can say is that taste is personal, so if i don't understand it, someone else might, and feel compelled to vote for it. That's the beauty of voting, is that everyone is different. I've waffled for way too long, good job!

Coloradoweeks - That description is spot on lol. First time i've seen you reach 4 minutes in a OHC round. Longest is usually 2 minutes for you, so props. I'm digging the strings and drum work. It's like a horror movie theme song, but in Rock Band form. The piano licks are kind of buried, and yet they add something nerve-racking to the piece. The swells were very intense and unexpected in loudness, but it works immensely. It's kind of orchestral rock. I just love the pacing in this, all of the sound effects are just super cool. Even with the abrupt end, I love it, enough for the 3rd spot, amazing work!

NickC - Man i'm thinking you are fading in a pad sound into some chord progression or melody, but you immediately kill the volume before you repeat. That immediately messed with my brain, i'm super impressed. If i feel uncomfortable, then you've immediately done a great job. The weird violin work in this is incredible. In fact the whole piece is extremely horror movie like, and bang on in terms of theme representation. It makes me very uncomfortable, and the sound design is pretty killer. Towards the end, the sounds are blurred, making for some super confused and nervous listening. Like CotMM's track was theme fitting, but more because of ambience. Your track was just straight up scary and uncomfortable. I loved the ending, but i do feel it takes away the awesome qualities of the intro and middle. Makes the piece more emotional, and less scary as a result. Like some dark landscape, than straight up anticipating something attacking you. This is a long description, so i'll just say the whole thing was pretty awesome, and the ending was still lovely (Just a bit out of place). I mean it ended up being the top spot on my list, it was that good, Incredible work!
