@Misael.K - lol
@CotMM - Yes! I was not expecting people to get it, but i'm kind of relieved people did. Guess i picked the right sample lol.
@Arcana - It's actually not as scary as you think...
@CotMM - I'd better watch that movie lol. In all seriousness, this is bang on. Surprised you could recognise it to be honest. But the sound design is very familiarising i suppose...
@MCMiag - They also probably did it better lol.
@InvisibleObserver - So do i lol.
@JH Sounds - You could say that about any movie really haha...
@Suzums - Thanks for that kind compliment there.
@Misael.K - I do feel like it's good to post the description of my piece, as 9 times out of 10, all the explanations are there, so people know what i'm doing.
@MCMiag - Thanks!
@Arcana - Almost gonna be a one note bass, until i tweaked it a bit haha.
@Coloradoweeks - Does sound like a horse eh?
@CotMM - *cries in non programmer*
@InvisibleObserver - I don't know, you'd better tell me lol.
@CotMM - Or sometimes you spend so long on something, time creeps up on you leaving you no time to finish it lol.
@Misael.K - The signature catchphrase ;)
@Coloradoweeks - Well i hope you're hungry, because you'll need a big appetite for this one.
@Misael.K - XD
@CotMM - The difference here, is my Soufflé's are made with love haha.
@InvisibleObserver - Woow, that's quite a deep analysis. Thanks for the kind words there!
@MCMiag - I mean who watches The Wizard of Oz in a OHC party?
@Suzums - There's no breaks here, just pure TR-808 goodness. Unless you mean breaks as in "pacing", then yes they're breaks in the song lol.
Edit: Turns out there is breaks in this, but in the form of fills. They're so sparse i forget they're even there lol.
@Misael.K - No, no he means Breakfast ;)
@Suzums - Oh god. I'm just gonna Sauté my kick drum in a little bit of distortion:
- Crack open a 303 and let that filter for a couple of seconds.
- Marinate the Omnisphere in a mixture of Reverbs, Delays and EQ's, and let it soak for 5 minutes until thick haha.
- Season to taste with Compression and Sidechaining. I could go on with this, it's actually pretty fun XD
@Misael.K - More like, herbs and spices kind of breaks ;)
@Suzums - Exactly lol
@InvisibleObserver - Stop, you guys are making me hungry XD
@CotMM - Maybe i need to add more milk to it lol
@Coloradoweeks - Ok that's a pretty fancy cooking technique. Someone's done their research lol.
@Suzums - Probably haha..
@CotMM - Gotta get your Omega-3 in there lol.
@Everyone - Thanks for the kind words! So much talk about foods making me hungry lol.
Now then...
TheVideoGamer - You know what my description is more or less what i need to say. It's a fast piece, with a soft experimental intro, some rolling TR-808 beats, some thick acid basslines and synth basses, some pads as well as a couple of arps playing these mystical like chords. How you interpret the theme is up to you, but i think this is a fun piece. Now i did say in the description i didn't have time to finish it, so it does end abruptly. I made a 12 minute version in the discord, so feel free to check it out, but otherwise have fun with this, in the same way i had fun making it. Thanks for listening!
cotmm68030 - Crispy textures, complete with the signature deep pads you are known for. Liking the metallic ring on the sounds here. Feels like a mixture of a Tubular Bell and a Gamelan or something. Even though the bells are design with texture in mind, there is a faint almost soothing melody to the way it's played/programmed. The dynamics and panning of the bells is also a lovely touch, very ancient/maybe medieval sounding. The more you add, the more it becomes like soothing ambient music, the melodies are there despite there being any if you get me lol. All in all lovely work, well done!
Lyra_183 - Woah is this you!? Daam i like that voice intro! Even if it's not you, it's lovely, you could use more of that in the piece. I think we used the same tick tock sound effect haha. The intro was lovely, i would have loved to hear that throughout. Good job!
DarkShadow - BUZZZZZ. It's almost like a computer singing lol. I can't decipher this melody at all, it's soo all over the place. Some super cool sounds, even it's not really my favourite from you. Good job!
DDRKirby(ISQ) - A 7/4 type beat? Les gooo! I really liking the eastern instrumentation in this, it's got a hint of Japanese flavour to it. Mixing is super tight in this, and the 7/4 is actually not as noticeable on first listen. It's almost a silence groove change. Grooves are amazing and dynamic, and as always you make such tight mixes. The melodies are more subtle in this, compared to your usual pieces, and the rhythms are more centre fold in this. The climax part (With the piano and pad chords), really adds something awesome to this. Such a beautiful piece, well done!
elbobbo_music - Ooh nice trance chords here. It's got a lot of unique spicy notes. Can't tell what chords you are going for, but i like it. The array of synth arps and sequences really makes it electronic flavoured, like a mix between Trance and Techno. The chords are a little all over the place personally, and the drums could stand to be a tad bit tighter and beefier. But that's just me, the idea is really dope, good job!
Hanknit - WAIT, HOLY CRAP I FORGOT THERE WAS A NUMBER 13 IN THE IMAGES WTH. I didn't even know that XD. Nicely played Starla, that was quite a hidden relic in the photo. Kind of makes me regret doing nothing but 4/4. I like how you synthesized the sound of the alarm clock. This feels humorous in a way, the mallet is very simplistic, almost done on purpose, and the synth bass almost work like a kick drum as well. Hi-Hat was pretty interesting. I don't know what the direction we are going here, it's soo random and weird lol. It was fun, but i didn't understand some of the melodies and sounds in this, sorry. Good job though!
Treyt - Haha this is awesome, it's pretty funny. The beat is beautiful, but it needs work i'm afriad. Vocals are quiet, guitar is front and centre, and beat is a little flat in my opinion (No dynamics at all). The dubstep parts were pretty sudden, and made me laugh more than me grooving. I mean as a meme this is awesome, but as a listenable piece of music, it needs a lot of mixing for me to put it in the awesome category. Sorry, but good job!
Nukage - Always with the cool Nukage like chords, that sound like it could either be Major or Minor lol. I love the trap beats in this. I did notice the weird drum pattern in there, but in my opinion it adds a layer of cool syncopated groove to the whole thing. The drop was fire, super hard hitting, love the amen fills. This is soo fire, even if the vocals are not your own, the way it blends into the beat is just...beautiful. Well done!
Coloradoweeks - Mobile compo for the win! I like these chords, and the synth sounds. Quite a loud waveform, but i assume this is all intentional. I can hear a weird a bit of clipping in this, but again this could be intentional, it is a loud waveform. The effects on the voice are pretty awesome, and the idea is actually great. It just has potential to be expanded upon, and maybe mixed a little more. Everything about the track was awesome as an idea (The production is great), so it wasn't all bad, just needs a bit of polish. Good job!
Barley - Classic Psych guitar and Electronic beats. A staple from you. Your beats are so lo-fi it's like one full wall of texture. Very bedroom producer sort of feel (This is not an insult, far from it. It's a compliment). I love your vocal, it has that hint of Glam Metal emotion in it. The mix of the vocal is very quiet in this in comparison to the rest. The guitar work was nicely mixed in this, and the drums are audible and loud enough in this (Huge difference from before). Again like the last one, this has a lot of potential. Good job!
obScene - Strings and Piano. Is there anything more classic from you? You always make these very powerful emotional pieces, that would be perfect for a Movie Trailer or other soundtrack material. It's like Industrial music with a blend of orchestrations, and the way you do it, it's beautifully executed! In this one the real juicy bits arrives as the piece comes to a close, which is sad. When we hear the final note, i'm expecting a huge climatic drop, but instead we get a cutoff ending. Shame. Despite that, it's a beautiful and epic piece, with lovely melodies, and lovely mixing. Well done!
Arcana - Live performance les goo! I think you sequenced a metronome in this? I could be mistaken. It's not intrusive, but it is noticeable. It might bother others, but i'm indifferent to it. Great chords, liking the singing a lot. Your singing has improved so much since i first heard you sing. Audio is a little quiet, but mixing is great. I'm starting to think i went too soft on the use of a metronome. It is a little annoying lol. I was indifferent at the beginning, but you've used it throughout. It still sounds good though, even with it's mixing potential, i had a ton of fun with it, it was lovely. Good job!
NickC - Some very strange sounding sounds here. Lots of augmented chords going on, and weird metallic synth stuff going on. It's one part experimental, one part melodic. It's got a lot of very great textures. The ending part sort of mellows out the textures and transitions it into a more simple melody based piece, but still retains the same chords. I don't know what to think of this one. Sound design was awesome, but the direction was all over, and the chords were a little too...random. I don't know, i liked it for the great experimental flavours, than say the productional values, if you get me. Sorry, but good job!
mcmiagblackmanisgod - Preview for your upcoming sex tape? When are you gonna whip it out ;). You know in all seriousness, they're kids that use this site? Or at least those who are under 18. Like i'm not bothered about the subject matter, and the beat is very tight and groovy, but like there is all sorts of legal ramifications you could get this site into, simply by sharing NSFW content. I love the transition into the 2nd beat, it's very great, especially since the first beat was starting to get a lil' repetitive. I don't mind this, in terms of content, and in terms of beat it's pretty fire, however i don't feel it's appropriate for the theme, and the monologue was just...i didn't understand what they're saying sorry. Good job though!
Dex - My left and right ears are getting a blessing lol. My centre channel is missing some action haha. I understand you may be self conscious of your voice, but holy hell you are such a fantastic singer. It sounds very professional. This track is so short i had to repeat it 3 times just to get some thoughts down. The drop was soo fire, but that was the 50 second mark. This is a 56 second piece of music lol. Not enough substance for me to comment on, so i'm afraid it's a good job!
DJohn - Solo acapella wooo! It's especially good knowing you sing so well! Your voice is just incredible as always. Now you're sort of asking me to make this into a beat, i can't stand and let a beautiful acapella go untouched lol. Solo acapellas like this are sadly crying out for a beat. I might work with this, keep an eye out for future developments. Good job though!
Meistr - Always love a collab, this is great! JH Sounds crooning over a Meistr EDM beat. We should have more collabs in OHC, we will get the best of each individual worlds! Loving the orchestration in this. It's like a intro to an EDM song, but with a bit of an acoustic sheen. Chords are lovely, nice piano work, JH's vocal contributions add a lovely emotional flair to the piece. The drop at the end was kind of spectacular. The way you sped it up, and then BAM you throw in some dubstep drums and synths! Just such a lovely piece, well done!
Misael.K - Emotional piano chords. Obligatory this reminds me of C418 lol. Except this one has a beat, and some soft Saxophone synth like stuff. Very simple, but super effective, got my head bopping from start to finish. Dig it a lot, great additions, well done!
InvisibleObserver - Really deep pads here, reminds me of something in a Prince of Persia game. Such a very experimental array of bell like textures. Super cool stuff. It's like IDM without the beats, you always do such killer sound design! Great sidechaining, and beats. Unexpected (And maybe a tad bit loud), but i'm all for it. Really changes the mood from soft and dreamy to experimental EDM like stuff. The only gripe is that it is a little loud, but nonetheless super beautiful sounds. Good job!
