@CotMM - That sounds like some vocal fill before the drop haha. "I like how hollow the bass sounds".
@Suzums - Around 70 percent of sounds come from manipulated traffic as well as other car sounds, including skidding and a car crash. The rest is mostly to beef up the textures, and to make it less simple and boring.
@CotMM - I'm glad i live in a rather quiet neighbourhood lol.
@Coloradoweeks - Actually this is legally allowed to be called pure ambience, as there is no beat to this.
@CotMM - I wouldn't be surprised if i was compared to you, especially since i did a similar style to yours. I think it fits the description of Dark Ambient pretty well.
@Misael.K - Youneedtobemoreontimedudeeeeeee!
@CotMM - I might as well sample everything from a car lol.
@Arcana - A lot more quieter than i thought to be honest. But that just means you need to raise your volume a tad bit.
@Misael.K - Or CotMM is channelling his inner TVG ;) I take inspiration from all sorts of things.
@DJohn - Yep, sounds about right.
@CotMM - You're just a popular guy lol.
@Dex - Not all. They're some synth work in this as well, not just car sounds.
@CotMM - Drone's right's XD.
@Suzums - Or it could be a demented skid mark ;)
@Misael.K - For shame.....
@Everyone - Thanks for the kind words!
Now then...
TheVideoGamer - This won't really be a massive description, because these kinds of projects don't give you much to say. It's basically a Dark Ambient piece, made out of the sounds of manipulated traffic, skid marks from cars, a car crash, some deep pads with most of the harmonics removed, and some SFX of random assortments. The goal here was to add as little as possible, whilst still feeling the change/the burst of random sound, making it more like a drone piece. The quietness was unintentional. Glad you liked it!
Lyra_183 - Wooo real lyrics! You would make a fine songwriter. Now i can just imagine this to a beat, good job!
cotmm68030 - So i guess it's battle of the Dark Ambient? To be fair, i can never be as good as Dark Ambient as you lol. Your the real king, i'm just a multi-purpose guy. No but seriously i dig this a lot. You really know how to hit the 6 minute mark. I love the soft but hard hitting drums, and the weird bass rumbles that really add a touch of spook to the piece. The textures are haunting, and fitting for a night time drive, especially when your all alone. Lovely subtle developments, well done! I don't know what it is, but i found the darker and more experimental pieces were more fitting to the images, and ended up really heightening that unerving tension in the pictures. This ended up being so good i picked you 2nd. Incredible work!
DarkShadow - Every week you always max out the waveform with some of the most messed up dirty sound design, and i both love it, and find it very strange. You fascinate me lol. Good job!
Souperion - Soup doing synth music? Say it ain't so! Some very cool triplets in the arps, it's almost like a polyrhythm. Digging that 80's inspired beat and melody. It's almost got that Terminator vibe, with the 80's cinematic feel and dirty electro. Sweet combo, lovely stuff, awesome work!
Barley - Soft guitar, feels very relaxed in the playing, so much so it could do with a tad bit of quantizing. I dig the pentatonic scales in this one, and the rather clean mix. One of your strong ones for sure, just gotta fix the quantizing i'm sorry. Good job!
DDRKirby(ISQ) - I've just had a thought. Did anyone do The Long and Winding Road from The Beatles? That would have fit lol. Getting sidetrack for a minute, the trance vibes in this one is stroooong! Super funky, lots of awesome futuristic synth melodies, very bright sci-fi chords, and a lot of grooviness. As Nukage would say "This has been a DDRKirby production", because it's just more of the awesomeness you do. I can never pinpoint anything bad with your pieces, everytime i listen to you, it's just sooo nicely done! Awesome work!
Coloradoweeks - Woow this is some very cool rhythms. This reminds me of J-Pop, it's very bright but very high energy. Your chord progressions are super cool, it's such intricate chords i love it. I love this vibe, it's simple and straight-forward, the beat is catchy. The very fast lyrical delivery nearly threw me off, and the piece suddenly stops, but despite that i loved it, Awesome work!
Dex - RAWWK. Sweet melodies, tight production. It's hard to find critiques with this, not because it's a style i don't often listen to frequently, but because i can never find anything that sticks out in a bad way. It's just lovely melodies and drum work, i was vibing hard. Well done!
DJohn - For a second i thought you were gonna pull a Meat Loaf on me lol. Then again that would be impossible, because Meat Loaf's tracks never go under 8 minutes haha. The title almost got me ha. Well i listened to it, and i was....wrong. It really is Meat Loaf. You...condensed a 10 minute piece into....2 minutes. I mean you did an awesome job on it, but....2 minutes? How can i get 2 minutes out of a 10 minute piece? I'm very confused right now lol, so i'll just say awesome work!
Starla - The master of incredible singing. 3 of the finest voices in OHC. You, David and Coloradoweeks. No offense to everyone else lol. I love the trippy chorus effect in this one, really hits that lo-fi vibe hard! The vocals seem like a soft background layer it's super cool, not sure if it's intentional. The vibe was awesome though, very different but yet still had a sense of familiarity to the sound. Awesome work!
obScene - Deep electric piano vibes, very moody sounding. Loving the dubstep drums in this, doesn't feel out of place for an obScene piece, but yet it was a different approach from you. String and piano work remain top notch. The drums i was kind of expecting to be more punchy, they are very much a background element. The idea is soo good (Hell, even awesome), but i'm finding a fair few mixing problems that could be touched upon. The drums are an obvious one. This one ended up with a lot of thinking and in the end, the melodies won me over, well done!
NickC - Dirty NickC vibes. Lots of intense noise wailing and scrapes. Some very cool augmented chords, feels like an intro to some DnB piece. Loving the haunted piano, really characteristic of NickC, and the break manipulation makes for some really cool sounds. Quite the industrial sounds here, the lead synths are distorted in a way for some very pulsating textures. Sound design is killer. I don't know what to say really i found more to like than dislike, and it fits the theme super well. The industrial textures do the track a service, so well done! This one was a huge grower on me, and when i factored in theme relevancy and the way the mood played out, it hit completely differently, so much so, that i actually chose you for the top spot. Wow, that was a huge contrast, to my first listen. Incredible work!
Nukage - Nukage vox makes a return. Loving the chords in this one. The vocoder effects are also pretty awesome. Drop was unexpected, didn't feel any anticipation for it, but the actual production was pretty killer. Well done!
Arcana - Ooh a short one, that's interesting. Chord work is cool, really feels like some rave party. The idea is pretty great, even if it's very short. The autotune feels a little weird for me, a little too detuned, and i didn't vibe with the percussion, a bit harsh for my liking. The whole idea has a lot of potential, that's why it's a minute long. Seriously though i enjoyed this, good job!
JH Sounds - You always seem to bring a cool mix of electronica and pop rock like harmonic ideas. Top notch lyric writing, a tone of fun from start to finish. Feel like we could do with some hi-hats/percussion in the beat, but besides that i enjoyed this one a lot. Well done!
Misael.K - Misael Singing? That's something i've not heard in ages. Loving the arps on the guitars, really has that REM feel for some reason. Vocals are tad bit buried, and i noticed you are having problems with the mixing, because sometimes it cuts out, as if the vocal file is corrupt. The mix itself has a lot of potential, as the vocals are buried, and the drums are too far back. Idea was awesome though, could be transformed into something excellent. Good job though!
Top 3 - NickC, cotmm68030, DDRKirby(ISQ)
I kind of went for the more darker pieces, than the more "poppy" pieces, if you get my drift (Pun kind of intended lol). They ended up connecting more to the images.
These guys were also good enough to go on the list:
Souperion (This one was your finest yet, i would love for this to be on the list)
Dex
Coloradoweeks
DJohn (I'm now kind of expecting the 10 minute version soon lol)
