@Suzums - A rare sight for me to make a pure piano piece.
@Coloradoweeks - Yes i did. I didn't do any corrections, what was drawn in remained in the final. I was almost working like a timeline kind of thing. From point A to point B.
@Misael.K - lol, i'm not the only one who goes ape on the levels. Sometimes even i do make quiet music haha.
@DJohn - Probably heard or have heard? I mean all songs were based off something prior, it's a reality. No melody is completely original.
@Dex - Reverb piano. So simple but so elegant.
@Souperion - Just a Solo Piano and Reverb. That's it. No pad to be seen in sight.
@Misael.K - Correct.
@Souperion - I've done a few more expressive pieces similar to this, it's just a little more rare as i primarily make beat-driven stuff.
@Suzums - Thanks, for me they were the most important part of the whole thing.
@DJohn - Probably because it was all drawn in lol.
@NickC - Thanks, i had to make sure it was as realistic and less mechanical as it could be. Glad you liked it!
@Misael.K - lol, that's accurate. I don't have the skills to tinkle away on my keyboard, because it can get a bit clinky and loud.
@NickC - I mean it's not even often i draw in my own velocities myself lol. Sometimes i just randomize without reason.
@Misael.K - To be honest, i just worked from A to B. I didn't really stop to correct any notes, i just went ahead, which makes this more of a looser piece, than a completely planned one.
@Misael.K - Lol i had to find a way to soften it and fade it out.
@Everyone - Thanks for the kind words!
Now then...
TheVideoGamer - What else can i say? It's just a solo piano piece, nothing more. I only added reverb to it, to give it space, and drew in all of the notes and dynamics. Despite the feeling in certain areas, it's actually 70bpm, and not 140bpm, so don't be alarmed by how fast it is in parts. The goal of this piece, is to both be a combination of sad and happy. Sad that you have to go, but happy that there is a bright future to look forward to. I'm pretty happy with this one, hope you are too!
Lyra_183 - Ooh mashup! I don't know Bo Burnham, so i am going into this blind. I like how you added in some BZZZ. Makes it more funny, especially for a clean version. I enjoyed this a lot. Would love to hear a beat on this. Good job!
DarkShadow - That DarkShadow Untz. This time with more lazzzzeeerrssss. The kick doesn't even really sound a kick lol. It's very clickyyyyyyy, and sadly i'm not a fan. But still, good job!
Ethansight - Wavey LFO chords. Great filtering going on, very cool and unique. Loving the funky bassline and drums we have going on, really like the way it fills in. The bassline seems to take centre stage, and i don't know if this is intentional, but it's a bit weird. However though when the melody and pads come in, the whole thing becomes a little more balanced. It's almost as if it needed something to drown out some of the low end. I'm reading way too much into this lol. I tried listening again, and everytime i do, my bassline critique becomes a lil one sided. It's like that with me sometimes, i'll make something then end up backtracking later haha. In all seriousness though, after thinking about it for a long time, there ended up being more to like than dislike, so well done!
Souperion - Really cool string movements, has kind of a Celtic influence. Liking the array of melodies and harmonies that lock into each other, makes it more spaced out. I'm really liking the string work in this, it's super strong, and memorable. Loved this one, well done!
DDRKirby(ISQ) - Chiptuuuuuneeeeeee. Of course it's a Video Game soundtrack, you are known for this kind of stuff. Can't vote on it sadly, because it's not related to the compo, however it was super fire, the melodies are awesome. Well done!
Suzumebachi - Cold piano. Very distant sounding, very sad. String work is really familiar, sounds like a piece of music i know, but i can't remember. Chord work is excellent as always, your harmonies are always sooo fascinating. The chord changes are just sooooooo magical, and.....just...awesome. Beautiful stuff, incredible work!
Dex - Great piano and violin combo. Kind of fitting for an end credits sequence. Really loving the chord work here, it's simple but effective. It does get a little close to the threshold i'm not gonna lie. However though, besides that i couldn't really find anything major to critique, it's just really good. Well done!
Nukage - Oooh soothing intro. I'm loving the chords and vinyl effects, the intro is amazing. I've not heard much of these kinds of sounds from you, dam. Loving the orchestra drums, very cinematic, really love how it builds. It sounds like Nukage, but has enough elements to make it more of an original artist. Metal elements were FIREEEEE. This is a rawking track, such amazing production. Incredible work!
Koekepan - Deep pads, very much a Koekepan staple. Loving the delay effects on them square sounds, really adds something to the pads. String work was also really good, brought a bit of emotional resonance to the music. Really digging the changes, keeps it fresh, but doesn't change the overall mood. It's kind of a beautiful piece, really enjoyed this a lot. Well done!
DJohn - I wonder who that voice is, it sounds very unfamiliar to me. Great chords, really feels like it belongs to some modern movie, or song. Deep vocals, really digging the moody whispering into the microphone. This is just really good, well done!
Coloradoweeks - Ummmmmm.....i'm confused. Did you forgot to render the whole thing? You posted a 2 minute thing in discord, is this the full render? I don't know.....
NickC - Calming piano, seems to be a big staple in a lot of these tracks, based off the theme. Really loving the reverb in this, kind of sounds like what i would have done. Digging the drums, very deep, almost meant for some cool space background on a cliff. The drums are a little too hot for my liking, the piano takes a beating from the beats. The sudden switchup, into hyped up Kawaii pop, is both weird, and kind of unfitting. I will applaud you for trying for something different, but in this theme, it took away than added. Good job though!
Misael.K - Loving these arps, very mystical, kind of feels like were in a flashback with our old self or something. The beats are very buried, but i don't know if this is intentional. There is a lot of moments where the mix could do with a fair bit of work in my opinion. The piano and melody, seem to be very front and centre, and close to the threshold. Shame, i really want to like the idea, it's actually pretty incredible, however the mix really does stick out for me on this, and i don't know if i like it. Sorry dude, good job though!
InvisibleObserver - Moar pianos! All the pianos! Such a popular choice tonight. Nearly every track has a piano. Loving the strings in this, really makes it cinematic. The chords are also something, really perpetuates that sort of anime/film closure where the person rides off into the sunset, after saving the world, or is about to save the world. The sound effects in this one are super cool, loving the textures. Honestly really like this one a lot, well done!
Eva - Getting a lot of 1 minute pieces this week lol. Loving the syncopation in the guitar work, really digging the beats. The guitar is very faint, i don't know if you recorded any amplification on it, but it's a little too much on the quiet side. The idea and chords are lovely though, it has soo much potential! Good job!
Arcana - That Kaskade cover might have provided you with some inspiration for your next track lol. These are not your average chord, they're pretty cool actually, like really cool! Nice mixing on the drums, this idea is really cool. The vocals are close to the quiet side, but the high parts are also really good. It still needs a bit of work personally, however it is one of your stronger ones. I'll give you it. Thought about it, and i decided to give you this one. Well done!
JH Sounds - The last 3 tracks of Abbey Road, ignoring that hidden Her Majesty track lol. I don't know how to review 3 tracks in one lol. Great covers, some great drum work in this. The music is vastly different than what i normally hear from JH Sounds, it sounds like this wasn't made in GarageBand, but more so some other external program like FL Studio or Logic. Nice medley of each track. The whole thing would normally be 5 minutes, but you've essentially condense each one into 3 minutes. I really like this more relaxed JH type production, i love it. Well done!
Coloradoweeks (Again?) - Ok so this must be the full version of the failed render (That was posted at the end of the party). I love the effects on your vocal, it's a mix of a natural voice, and a vocoder it's pretty lovely. Not often i hear Jazz from you, but the chords are SMOOOOTH. Great singing, and the drum work is fire. It's just really good. Love this one, awesome work!
Top 3 - Suzumebachi, Nukage, Coloadoweeks
Note: My vote for Coloradoweeks is technically for the 2 minute final render she posted on Discord, however it's not a ThaSauce submission, but it is the same as the snippet she posted here. So you could say it's cheating, but it's really the same piece, so there's nothing that is really rule breaking. Anyways, It was a pretty awesome submission.
DJohn and Koekepan also deserved to be on the list, they were also pretty awesome.
