nice job DDRKirby. this one had a lot of attention to detail and intricate percussion and pads and fx.

Xanthos had cool kicks, nice sound design. Next time keep your entry under 6:00 minutes though.

Koekepan lots of nice detail and cool minimalist sounds that all merged really coherently into a whole composition.

I had to sadly exclude those over the limit, but I think that NickC's somewhat off-kilter chording captured the scene best.

DDRKirby once again blew my face off with an awesome composition that combined ambient, atmospheric sounds with a building intensity that flowed incredibly well.

Ethansight crafted a downright fun track to listen to. Loved that main lead synth, those backing strings, and that deep bass in the background.

Barley created a pretty smooth, bluesy rock song that gave me some definite Tool vibes here and there. One-man band right there.

I also liked Misael K's building dramatic piece, DarkShadow's intense cyberpunk-sounding track, and Coloradoweeks' smooth jazzy composition and singing. Really though, everyone brought something cool to the table this go-around. Great work, everyone!

@Souperion - Oh my god, i went over by a second, my life is ruined lol.

@Xanthos - Now that's a game i've haven't heard in a while.

@Suzums - The sounds mainly processed here are the sounds of flickering lights, and rain.

@Arcana - Yep, the reverb is soaked throughout here.

@Xanthos - There's a lot of rain in the pictures ;)

@Coloradoweeks - It's kind of perfect for a horror movie kind of vibe.

@Misael.K - Not intentional, but lol that's funny.

@Suzums - It's all rain and flickering lights, with the occasional sound effect. There is also i believe some slowed down birds tweeting for some atmosphere.

@Ethansight - Imagine listening to this whilst you walk around some abandoned factory, or mall. Oooh.

@Arcana - Oh really? I'd better make more satisfying music then lol.

@Xanthos - Very eerie would you say?

@CotMM - Just hope no ghosts have carjacked your car lol.

@Everyone - Thanks for the kind words!

Now then...

TheVideoGamer - This is primarily a 6 minute soundscape, consisting of manipulated samples of flickering lights, both bulbs and LED's, as well as heavy rain. Bird tweets also get slowed down, to make for kind of this alarm/weird sound that really adds to the unusually nerving atmosphere of the piece. Other sounds come and go, which include risers and swells, buzzing noises, and even drum stuff, changed into textural things. Honestly, it's not a calming piece, and really draws out the atmosphere, especially when you walk at night in the rain. I like this one, hope you do too!

Lyra_183 - Randomly generated lyrics, les goo! Writing lyrics on your own is for chumps XD. Really fun singing, would love to hear a backing beat on this, good job!

cotmm68030 - Deep ambience, this seems like a less aggressive version of my track lol. This is very unerving, and perfectly suited to a horror movie. The detune on the bells, really makes it hard to decipher any clear pitch, which i'm always for, especially in the context of something so dark and spooky. I could honestly listen to this for 10 minutes, i feel like it works well in that context. amazing stuff, awesome work!

DarkShadow - Signature DarkShadow vibessssss. This time with reverb on the clap sounds, and risers. The gabber part at the end, is actually really well done. Seriously this is a really strong from you, definately not afraid to give this well done!

Xanthos - It's been so long, you've forgotten they've now introduced a 6 minute rule XD Your long play's have really been something (Of the ones i've managed to listen to), and this seems to be no exception. I really like the mix between old-school synth work, and modern dubstep vibes. The drums in this, go really hard. It also feels like this is some kind of life-performance thing going on. Nothing is exactly structure, it's more so you're adding things and taking away as necessary. This is an awesome thing by the way, not a negative. It's very sci-fi like, perfect blend of 80's sounds and modern electronic production. Really it's just s lovely longplay (Even if it sadly goes over the limit). Well done!

Souperion - String based goodness. Really digging these chords, has a kind of adventure RPG feel to it. Love the synth combination, really adds depth to the strings. Some very unique resolutions in the chords. Honestly, despite the simplicity of only a synth and some strings, the chords and melodies were really strong in this, loved it. Thought about this for a while, and in then you're in the awesome category. Well done!

DDRKirby(ISQ) - Deep mallet sounds, feels like some ancient temple, but it's very dark. The melodies are always super strong in your works, and the mixing is always perfectly compressed. I really dig the dark nature of this one, it feels like it's meant for this theme, especially in the stark contrast between the sound design heavy of mine. I really dig the developments here, then again this is DDRKirby here. Again it's just another awesome composition from you, awesome work!

Koekepan - Kind of feels like you're emulating the flickering lights, that i sort of did in my piece. Really adds a depth of interesting atmosphere to the mix. I also dig the synthesized rain, also adds depth. So deep, honestly for me, out of all of the ones heard so far, i'd say yours is the most theme accurate. This is what i kind of look for, when listening to your piece. It also makes my track way too loud in comparison haha. No but seriously, i love this, perfectly fitting, extremely lovely sound design, awesome work!

Misael.K - Rich 80's styled chords, very sombre. lovely chord changes, one minute it's happy, next it's sad, next it's mystical. The chord changes are really special, especially the Eb flat that pops in from time to time. This is extremely lovely, i love the synth sounds soo much. The whole thing is kind of awesome, it's sooo atmospheric, and calm, and the synth sounds are just beautiful. Incredible work!

Barley - Cool bass riff's. Nice reverb on the drums, really gives it the feeling were in a large room. Nice guitar playing, cool chords we have going on here. Your mixing has seriously improved ten fold, i can really hear your voice, it's very clear and concise, and the guitar is very clean. Even though there's still quite a fair bit of potential in this one, i'd still consider this probably one of your best mixed ones. Well done!

Coloradoweeks - Jazz ayyyy. Really smooth chords, the bassline rattles in my headphones in an awesome way. I was laughing quite a bit on this one, the unexpected onomatopoeia was hilarious. Even if it's not a serious tune, i still loved it, great grooves. Well done!

Arcana - We seem to have a lot of 5 minute tracks on here for this compo. Not a bad thing at all, it's just interesting how many long ones we have in this, i kind of like it lol. Modular arcana, is probably my favourite Arcana. Especially since i really get to see the live side of things. Lovely square basslines, really feels like you have the funky syncopation down. Mixing is tight in this one, nothing is distorted or over compressed, and the grooves are really good, especially in modular, where you will not always know where you'll end up. Honestly i can't find faults here (Maybe the vocals might need a bit of mixing work, but this one is very small), it's just a really nicely done composition. Well done!

Dex - Synth Dex, this is also something new that i've not heard from you in a long time. I mean you've done synth stuff before, but it's been a while. Really liking the melodies in this, it's got a kind of semi-happy funk feel to the thing. Almost like a pop band singing about how great the day is. The guitar work is also a cool addition, makes it more of a rock tune, than a 80's styled tune. The drop into the intense guitar work was a lovely change. Keeps everything intact, but gives us a complete texture shift. Lovely ideas here, well done!

obScene - I like it when people denote sound effects using real instruments. It sounds like raindrops on the piano. The whole thing has a serious Asian feel to it, like it belongs to Japan, or even China. The strings really add the darkness to the whole thing. Shame it's only a minute, i was really getting into this, it has soo much potential, besides being short. Anyways, well done!

NickC - There seems to be some very interesting chords going on in these compo's, this round has provided us with some very musically dense pieces. I really love the drums in this one, very unique, it's like distorted and bitcrushed. Strings are also lovely. Melody is also very fire, it's both subtle but has a statement to make. Really funky atmospheric stuff, well done!

Ethansight - The vibrato on the lead is crazzzzzzyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. This is another very funky electronic piece. The chords are very Ethansight, kind of heroic and adventurous. Lovely melodies, great developments. Really lovely sub, well done!

JH Sounds - No for the ones who couldn't submit, or was late. Really nice uplifting chords, oh wait it's a Bee Gees song lol. I forget to read the description whilst listening sometimes. You cover the song super well, very fun, well done!

Eva - Really cool choppy vocals going on, i don't know if this is intentional. It really makes your voice hard to decipher, but i don't know if it's an effect. The guitar playing is also very cool, it feels like it's been processed with a lot of FX layers. Drums are very loud in contrast, it almost over powers the song a bit and the ending is abrupt. Oh well it's still a ton of fun, good job!

Top 3 - Misael.K, cotmm68030, Koekepan.

Even though Koekepan was the more fitting in terms of accuracy to the theme, the sound design on CotMM ended up winning me over. Although both were deserving of second place.

These entries were also sadly denied a spot on the list:

Ethansight

DDRKirby(ISQ) (This one i'm especially bummed about, it was just sooooo good!)
