@Suzums - Always come prepared with my signature chords ;)
@Arcana - Always come prepared with my reverb tails lol
@Suzums - Part and parcel of the genre. Untz, untz.
@Arcana - Everyone seems to know what's gonna come next, it's funny.
@CotMM - Haha
@Misael.K - You forgot extremely loud lol.
@CotMM - XD
@CotMM - I consider it mostly ambient lol. The thing is, what constitutes as ambient these days, no drums? It's all too vague.
@Misael.K - Just copying and pasting lol. I mean i primarily make electronic music, so this makes sense.
@Coloradoweeks - Yeah this is not to get stone on.
@Misael.K - The thing is, even my most beautiful entry is still considered loud lol. I mean it has a lot of reverb pads, is that ambient? Like it's soo vague. I usually call it ambient, because all the tracks have dense pads, with the deliberate attempt of easing the industrial/hardcore sounds into something more peaceful.
@CotMM - I could do this with any genre to be fair XD.
@DDRKirby - Funny how were talking Dubstep in a gabber song lol.
@coolgreenapple - I might as well just send a full shipment through each week haha.
@Misael.K - Oh god not that song lol. Why does everyone compare it to this song. Yeah it uses quick chord changes like mine (Especially unusual ones not in cream), but that's really it.
@CotMM - I don't think i was actively seeking out the composition when making this beat. It's more so a weird coincidence.
@Suzums - I think it's just a normal race tune...
@Misael.K - Ok that's true, i am the Video Gamer. I think i came up with it, as a simple recognisable name, that was kind of mostly relatable (But also it's easy to type in on the platforms.)
@CotMM - Especially now that i've incited some Final Fantasy discussion lol.
@NickC - Relatable haha.
@CotMM - Kind of true, what happened was i was unaware of the project time, so when i felt like to end it, we were on the 6 minute mark anyways, so if i had extended it, there would be a lot of problems (Both me and the party) as a result of this.
@Misael.K - You only need a knife and a chopping board to learn how to cook lol.
@CotMM - I forgot i'm the chosen one....
@Coloradoweeks - What if i'm not even real? What if i'm a series of computer robots ooooo.
@CotMM - If that was the case, i would be uploading faster (Maybe 2:40am instead of 3:30am). Just to assure the funny confusion, i am real, he is real, were all real.
@CotMM - Lol i would love to see that happening. It would be a huge laugh riot.
@Everyone - Thanks for the kind words!
Now then...
TheVideoGamer - I started off with this cool chord progression, that i was intending to expand into continuous chord changing piece, but in the end i only managed around 2:30/3:00 minutes worth of music, and it felt incomplete to me, so i decided to switch it up into something different, whilst not removing the BPM or the feel. The whole is essentially fast with a lot of ambient passages. People often joke that i call my intense pieces ambient, which is funny, but there is a reason i say this. You see with these pieces, like this one here for example, they often contain extremely dense chords of rich drawn out pads. Removed the beats and maybe the melody, it would be just mostly pure ambience, especially when it's a few pad layers. The chords are not rhythmical, nor are they played on heavy synths. Basically if you removed the beats, it's more or less ambient music. The second half is the same, but uses a different beat, different chord progression and slow build-up to a climax. Because of time restrains, i ended up copying the first half for the last minute or so, and just ending it at around 6 minutes, so it doesn't properly fade. Not intentional, it was me trying not to fall victim to the time. Anyways, hope you enjoyed the music!
Lyra_183 - Clocks have so many uses lol, can even be used as a metronome. Cool effects on the vocals here, very nice! Good job! Oh and happy birthday by the way (In case i've failed to mention it on discord), hope you had a good one!
DarkShadow - Feels like a more straight forward techno beat, but without of your time signature craziness. I feel this one is a bit too bass heavy, without much of a clear defined melody, however i did enjoy this one a lot, good job!
cotmm68030 - Very sweet delay effects going on here. Feels very lo-fi, but in a more experimental way. The background noise sounds like vinyl crackle to me, it's like your trying to manipulate an LP or something lol. I also like how you've managed to create a pulse out of the delay, functioning as rhythm, it's a really cool effect. Lots of sweet developments throughout it's runtime, while retaining a core idea. Totally feels fitting to some horror movie or experimental sci-fi. Had a lot of fun with this, well done!
animatrix1490 - Nice oldskool like melodies, feels like a mix of 80's and modern day sound design. Melodies feel kind of cute. Personally i would have opted for a more simpler kick and snare, and some parts at the end get close to clipping, however i did find this very uniquely weird and enjoyable, so all is not lost. Good job!
DDRKirby(ISQ) - I'd figured people would be doing a lot of clock foley this week haha. Nice funky electric piano vibes here, definately feels like a mix of 70's vibes with a modern kick. I absolutely love the drums and bass, i was grooving very hard here. The chords and piano and everything....it was soo satisfying, one of your strongest ones for sure. Awesome work!
Suzumebachi - Sweet strings and....clock samples lol. Is everyone really gonna start with the clock samples in this round lol. Love how you introduce a pause before each chord, really gives it a lovely sense of space. These are definately some Suzumebachi styled chords, i can never do harmony as good as you, just incredible stuff. Love the breakdown into the second part, where it's all bright and weirdly uplifting. This is another amazing tune, lots of incredible melodies. Beautiful stuff dude!
Barley - Nice funky guitar licks here, always got a knack out of your cool guitar effects used. It's especially nice to hear the stereo panning. Like how you opted for a more uptempo song, really nice change of pace. The voice is unfortunately masked, as well as the drums. However i did enjoy this a lot, good job!
Koekepan - Is that the 808 rim shot acting as a clock? If so, kind of neat. I'm a big fan of the eerie ambience in the background, kind of gives it a bit of a spooky edge to the whole thing, especially in conjunction with the mallet sounds. The mallets themselves are kind of ringy, so it leaves of a lot of unusual distortion, which i both like for it's place in the track, but i also feel at times it can get a bit loud, so i'm not sure if i'm 100 percent feeling it. However i do like the slow developments, i enjoyed the whole duration. Good job!
coolgreenapple - Sweet piano chords, has a retro vibe to the sound. Feels like some RC-20 or other warm plugin has been apply, it's a very crisp, slightly crunchy piano sound, and it's very cool. I don't know if this is intentional or not, but i do like the distortion. I should try and make an emotional charging track using mostly distortion. For this to be fully awesome, i would maybe add a beat to this, and maybe introduce a different chord progression, because it feels at the moment a little incomplete, and a little unpolished, however the idea is super cool, and i hugely enjoyed the listen. Good job!
NickC - Airy piano, very nice. Liking the metallic sounds in this, feels like there is a hint of agression in the whole thing, despite the melancholic melodies. Also like with the last one, i feel there is a hint of distortion applied here, to give it a warm crunchy sound. I also really like the way the melodies really blend well together, it feels like someone thinking in time. I also feel we don't get much lead melody, even though the violin should be used more. It was a lovely touch, and really brought out the whole thing. Without the violin, it can get a bit repetitive in parts, which to be hones, i do feel it is a bit. (To be fair, sometimes i'm guilty doing these things i say in some of the critiques i do). Still though it was a ton of fun, and i did have a lot of enjoyment, so all is not lost. Good job!
Coloradoweeks - Ooh Ella Fitzgerald! That's not an artist you would expect to see here, but i'm all for it. Classic old-school jazz, love the modern production values here, very nice mixing, and you sing beautifully, which i've always said your an awesome singer. Incredible stuff, awesome work!
Misael.K - Sweet music box vibes, the chords are pretty awesome. Loving the delay effects here, very much sounds like an old 90's video game. The melodies are pretty awesome. I love how you deliberately moved some notes out of sync, to make it very wonky, like an unstable delay. The whole thing sounds super warm and crisp, but not distorted, more like a bit of a crispiness to the vibe. I'm into the melodies a lot, they were just beautiful! Incredible stuff dude!
Dex - More warm melodies. Really liking the cool delay patterns, that synth is quite unique, but works well. Guitar work is lovely in this, kind of feels like a mix of ambient music, psychedelic and rock. Maybe shoegaze is something that accurately describes this. Great guitar playing, super enjoyable melodies, well done!
Arcana - I'd love to hear more of the happy side of Arcana, it's not something that i often hear from you. Really lovely string work, great melody ideas. Your voice is sadly buried, even though i can identify what you're singing. I feel this needs more, like a drum beat, a bassline and other things. You tried to introduce more elements at the end, but it only lasted 3 seconds lol. It's more so it needs more, the idea itself was really enjoyable. Good job!
JH Sounds - Longest JH Sounds project i've heard to date lol. 5 minutes and counting. Your mix is very tight here, you've definately improved your mixes since i've first met you. I love your lyric writing, so finessed and polished. I couldn't do lyric writing this advanced in an hour lol. Super enjoyable and a ton of fun. Well done!
Top 3 - Misael.K, Suzumebachi, Coloradoweeks
I was almost close to giving Misael and Suzumebachi join 1st, because both are excellent tunes, however i ended up with this result. Honestly all of the top 3 could go in any order, i just went with the one i was feeling that day. It's so annoying when you have too many good entries, because you are obligated to pick 3, and sometimes i don't want to pick 3, but instead pick 5 or 6.
All of these were sadly denied a top spot :(
