colorado: you're so good at this!!!!!! singing/performing everything!!

MisaelK: Even though it was rushed you actually pulled it off and did a great ambient piece with lush soundscapes, interesting variations, and good melodic content.

Souperion: Love the epicness and the really exotic feel that this one has. Sound design/instrumentation is done really well!

DDRKirby's entry is the total package. Relevant, well-executed, good vocals, no complaints.

Misael.K really delivered on the feeling.

Lenticels was a trifle busy, in my view, but still very good at conveying a somewhat beach-vacation feeling.

great job everyone! i'm definitely taking these with me while waiting in shore traffic this weekend.

  1. Wave Hello, Wave Goodbye by obScene. song by itself is absolutely lovely, song combined with the title had me close to sobbing because you put the idea out there. great job!
  2. sunset song by eva. you've got such a strong point of view musically (i really dig the grunge vibe you're going for, but that's probably the 90's kid in me talking) but this song really highlights your strengths extremely well. great guitar, great lyrics, and of course your voice is to die for
  3. It's Time to Compo by Arcana. i'm in this <song> and i don't like it i really love this song, love that you went meta with it, and it's absolutely perfect as a compo ender. (as an aside, it really kills me that you're so down on your voice all the time. you. sound. great. i literally watched one of your streams to figure out how you do vocal production)

standouts (in no particular order!): "waiting on this beach" by ddrkirby, "retro retreat" by suzumebachi, "by fleeting rays" by souperion, "dusk chaser" by wazzup thunder (i also have sand in my car, but that's because i'm a filthy human being), "vibrant sunset" by nick c, "sunset chase scene" by nukage, and "bottom shelf daiquiri" by kokepan. great job everyone!

@Misael.K - What? It's in the rules lol.

@Souperion - Don't know why it's such a big deal haha, the rule is 6 mins or under.

@Eva - I haven't been abroad for so long, i would love a Relaxing Vacation right now.

@Souperion - I kinda went for light percussion, so your gonna be a little disappointed lol.

@Misael.K - Something like that. I was mainly trying to go for something very melodic and beautiful, it's an emotionally charged track.

@Arcana - I don't know, this is a rare instance (Or maybe the first) where i go for a drum kit of light percussion rather than a heavy break, then again my style changes per round so....

@Misael.K - I'm glad that makes up for last weeks entry lol.

@Souperion - Or maybe your in relaxing meditation mode...

@Arcana - Hope you enjoyed your flight this evening haha.

@Wassup Thunder - Glad you liked every second of it.

@Everyone - Thanks for the kind words!

Now then....

TheVideoGamer - As you can tell the image is another amazing one. You don't need to know my reaction by now, these images are always just excellent. I even called it "the most beautiful image to ever grace OHC" which says something lol. Due to the beautiful nature of the image, i wanted to make something very melodically driven, with a lot of emotion. It's very emotionally charged, and i wanted to keep that throughout. Everything is mostly done through pads and piano chords, as well as light bells. I didn't just want it as a pure ambient track though, i felt it needed movement, so i added some very light (Almost close to a soft tape) DnB percussion. The lightest of all DnB percussion i've done. I needed to make it move, rather than be in your face, so extra care was taken. Definately another i'm proud of, i'd say this is currently my new favourite track i've made of all time, even though i've made loads i'm happy with. That's not a bragging thing, i genuinely believe that i've puts loads of great effort into this. Glad you like it too!

Lyra_183 - Nice vocals, great singing. I can hear a dog bark in the background lol. It feels very empty, i would love for something to be added to this, but as of now, good job!

Koekepan - Ok this one is surprisingly super funky, especially to say your primarily known for minimalism. The grooves were super tight, and the bassline is super juicy. I actually like the developments here, this is a track where i the simplicity and slow movement works to an advantage. Nothing bad to say, well done!

Souperion - I find this very cinematic for the theme, which doesn't make the track bad or anything, but i don't find it very fitting to the theme. Really nice string and piano work though the melodies are lovely. I also like the pauses before each re-iteration, great phrasing. Now if i'm basing this on composition alone it's lovely, but since it's in relation to the theme, i just don't feel it fits. Sorry, it's how i feel, good job though!

DarkShadow - Beach Festival Rave untz lol. I dig the grooves, but this is not relaxing music for a beach. It's one of your better mixed tracks however. Good job though!

Barley - Ok this is interesting, CotMM is no where to be found, yet Lyra is here, i wonder where he's gotten to? I shouldn't really be saying this while listening to your entry lol, it's derailing. This is very nice, i dig the effects on the guitar, however the vocals are unfortunately hard to decipher, since they're pushed back so hard. Also i feel the guitar work is very simplistic and repetitive. In a positive light though, i love the effects on the guitar, my favourite part. Good job though!

kboldskeep - Very nice cheerful melody, works well with the artificial waves. It's very free flowing, it's almost like you have no specific chord to land on, which i really like. Very simplistic, would have loved for some chords and maybe a counterpoint or something, but it was nice, good job!

obScene - Woah this is incredible. Now this is what i think of when i look at the pictures, extremely emotionally charged, i love it. Very bright and uplifting, i am in love with your signature contrast of sharp/industrial sounds with very light emotional melodies. The whole thing was incredible, i just can't get enough of it, especially since it's theme accurate. Incredible Work!

Wassup Thunder - Sunset Eurobeat. Going for a drive on the beach lol. This to me is your signature style, you've been perfecting it throughout the last couple of rounds. If i have to be honest, you should have done a Lo-Fi song, since you really excel perfectly in that style, and it would also be theme accurate. I mean i love the melodies and harmonies and all, but your Lo-Fi Hip-Hop, suits this round more if you know what i mean. Still loving the melodies though, good job!

Dex - This sounds likes a country song. Kenny Rogers maybe? Really nice guitar work, this is super lovely. Nothing to say here, great playing (Really dig the strings and flutes too), well done!

DDRKirby(ISQ) - Man that is one awesome chord progression. This is very clearly some Mac Miller kind of track. Very RnB jazz, with a hip-hop feel. The vocals are amazing, did you sing them yourself? Or did you get someone else to sing for you? The lyrics are also very good, especially to say your not usually a singer. I loved the whole thing, i'm such a fan of that amazing guitar melody. Awesome work!

Lenticels - Ooh i really like synthetic Steel Drum sound, love how it sounds, especially in the context of the track. Very bass heavy, it's like a combination of Dubstep and Trap. The melody is very bright and summery, fitting to the theme. Really loving the blend of sounds, well done!

Suzumebachi - Woo these are some spicy chords. It very much feels like a retro SNES combination. Maybe something from Super Mario World 2 or something. The last part really makes it into something special, these chords are sooo good. Even if you didn't spend much on it, the chords are too good to ignore. Well done!

NickC - Great orchestral sounds, it's very much some kind of RPG feel. Nice switch between instruments for the melody. It's very much fitting for a RPG town, rather than a sunset, but the melodies were seriously too good. Liking this one a lot, well done!

animatrix1490 - More spicy chords. Weirdly dissonant, it's almost like a perfect representation of a character thinking about something out to sea. The pan flute at the background makes the composition, i have strange karate kid vibes for some reason. Relies too much on augmented chords for my liking, i would like a blend between consonant chords and dissonant chords, but i did like what i'm hearing, it sounds like there is potential. Good job though!

JH Sounds - Classic JH Sounds beat. It feels kind of alone, without your voice. I don't know i kind of expect your voice for this track, as i do with all of your tracks. I don't know it just feels empty. Maybe you might do a vocal version of this, because i feel it would sound better with vocals. Good job though!

coloradoweeks - Ooh i love these chords, this is such a great chord progression. This is amazing harmony (I just love the chords soo much, can't get enough of them). The song writing is out of this world, i can't get enough of your lyric writing. I love the simplicity of the arrangement, this works super well. You sing this song beautifully. Definately an awesome entry. Incredible work!

Nukage - This is not a relaxing sunset according to Nukage lol. Very heavy, and very groovy, can't stop moving my head to this. Oof such lovely mixing. The vibes are soo good, the bass growls, the drums. You just excel so well at Dubstep. Definately amazing work. Well done!

Misael.K - More beautiful chords, i love the 7th additions, it really makes it more dynamic as a whole. I just love how they fade in and out, this is just amazing ambience. I love how things develop over time. Just such great pad sounds, well done!

Eva - Really nice drums and guitar work. I'm taking a big liking to your voice, it's very deep and unique. The drums are falling behind by a lot unfortunately, timing issues are big here, sorry. I feel like the vocals could be louder as well. You did a great track though, really nice effort. Good job!

christopian - When the track starts, it sounds very spacious and nice, it's almost like sitting on the edge of the cliff. That's a nice pad sound, but when it goes into the second half, it really changes, and it turns itself from a great entry into an amazing entry. The chords and drums remind me of Ethansight. The chords and synths are incredible, i love the way it flows the whole thing is beautiful. Lovely sidechain and sub, awesome work!

Arcana - This is kind of humorous in a way lol. The sun's down it's time to compo. Great trance vibes, really nice drum work. Chords are cool too. The vocals are definately getting better, however in this case i feel it needs a bit of mixing. I just feel this is a bit uneven for me, especially since the snare is quite in your face. Still liking this idea a lot though, light-hearted lyrics. Good job!

Misael.K - the 20 minute restart might have worked to your advantage here lol, I love the simplicity of this nothing superfluous going on just really nice harmony and sounds that fit the theme well

coloradoweeks - the sparse entries are really working for me this week...great performance and also perfect for the theme

DDRKirby - nice vox, a lot of autotune artifacts but I think it mostly works with the lofi style
