This was an incredible compo. I felt that the entries were some of the best I've heard! GREAT interpretation of the theme.

Flik's gets first from me because it absolutely sets the atmosphere and it made me laugh :)

Sci next, because it really tickled me and was what I wanted to hear.

IO since again this was really what I itched to hear from this compo, in my opinion nailed the theme.

First place goes to mv: Great composition and orchestration/selection of sounds, I really like what is going on and the change to the "fish battle" is also very good.

Second place goes to Suzumebachi: Great composition, even though it could be worked on a bit more. I can clearly hear your idea here and it definitely nails the theme. I wish I would have had time to make my drums groove like this too :/

Third place goes to Draconiator: I really like the calm laid-back atmosphere with the SFX here. I can really imagine a foggy lake in the morning where you set out on fishing all alone.

There were a lot more great entries this time, and I would have voted for more if it would have been possible. Thanks all for the listen, it was a great theme :)

Note: I actually liked a lot of the pieces so it was rather difficult to vote for top three. A lot of great tunes, though this is what I felt suited the theme best, as well as sounded great to my ears.

Usabell - Somewhat reminds me of certain Nintendo games listening to this tune, with an Earthbound feel to it. Melodically it certainly fits a slow cruise on a boat, though there were no signs of conflict there. :P Nice fitting tune however.

InvisibleObserver - Quiet night fishing turns into a raving disco battle against the school of piranha and sharks circling around your piffy little raft. :P Nice production work here, even though repetitive but driving at best.

Suzumebachi - Nice melody and chords, somewhat reminds me of music from visual novel games, or even a bit of NAMCOxCAPCOM. No fish battle here, but it certainly fits the peaceful setting of fishing.....on a port. :P

I'd write special mentions but there's too many this time. :P

my reasons are weird. i did have to narrow it down to around 6 songs. my top 2 are obvious, and cj got the edge for his vocal.

Well, I don't like giving the guy with the piles of experience and fanciness the top spot just because he excels at goodness. But I did anyway.

I chose Usabell's for second, because... well, it felt like it was about fishing, and it was groovy, and it lacked any awfulness.

I chose OCRE for third place, because his was catchy enough that I wanted to hear it again and again. The man has a talent for 'hooks'. Hardyharrharr.

HOLY SHIT WTF tight drum loop. Synth entrance at 0:34 really hit the spot, though I wish the percussion would have cut out for longer. But it's fine as you gave us more of that at 0:53. Overall just needs a slight bit more variation (for instance in the drum loop) and you've got me sold.

Obtuse - A Beer and a Pole
The lead at 0:18 could be a =slight= bit more in the foreground, methinks, but otherwise is great. The bass drum is cool at first but gets a little grating later.

InvisibleObserver - Big Fish
Damn this is a big fish. DAMN. Some neat sound mangling going on here; and fits in really nicely. Transition into 1:26 was killer. And the synth at 1:39, yeaaaaa really digging that filter automation. This is music that I'd want to play if I were a shark killing people.

Flik - Bill and John's Excellent Fishventure
Wow Bill's voice. Wow. Anyhow, you really manage to pull the transition into and out of melody-land very nicely here, so good job on that. ...Wow.

Puny intro, haha cute. Is this FL Slayer? =O I like the really low growling sound =X

Hahahahaha. hahaha. Slightly too compressed, but otherwise, fun entry!

The release at 0:56 is a bit too...sudden for me; I would have rather had that sustain for a bit longer. The transition into OMGYAAHH rock drums is neat though, so very nice on that. And whoooo theme reprisal, I really like that.

Sustained note at 0:20 was held a little awkwardly long without any fade or anything. =X Fun!

Long entry O_O. O wait it's silence >_<. My favorite part of this was actually the kick drum roll at 0:27.

Neat! But I think somehow I was looking for a little more contrast between the beginning and the end of this; perhaps I didn't get it because the fluteish melody stays constant throughout. Which was a nice touch, but didn't give me the contrast I would have liked.

Draconiator - The Lake Beckons...
DAMN THOSE BUGS. I hate flying bugs; it's the worst part of Summer. That's my main complaint about this song. Well, I guess the guitar could have been a bit more in the foreground. But this is very peaceful; if I listened to this while fishing I'd forget I was fishing at all.

Arcana - Life in the Deep
I didn't quite like the arp melody here that much in the beginning, and the 4-bar pads repeat a little too often here, but once the bass comes in there's enough variation in things to be alright. I also feel like if you added a little more in the drums it would have spiced things up veerrrry nicely.

Those chords in the background are eerie. This isn't very fishing but has a very interesting surreal quality to it. I didn't like it at first until I got into the right mood...I think the piano + chords are the strongest point here, though the lead on top is alright too.
