1st place goes to RAMPKORV - 3/4 always wins, and I really love the melody. I imagined how it would sound like on my e.piano or a music box which would be very gnffig. Definitely a winner!

2nd place goes to siebensus4 - a very pleasant surprise at the very end of the listening party. Love the choir/bells combo and the chords, and also the overall production/reverb.

3rd place goes to sci - Though I wasn't too fond of the "phat" drum sounds, I think this still fits the theme very nicely and gives a very pleasant atmosphere.

Artifice and Inquisition - Great production work considering it was made within an hour. Although repetitive, the arrangement does move enough for it to be listenable for its duration. Reminds me of the work of Stephane Picq somewhat, but more bombastic.

Purgatory - While mainly a spoken word piece with a comical vibe, I found this quite enjoyable to listen to, despite it obviously being a somewhat jokey entry. Regardless, it certainly magnifies the given theme with the cliche organs and religious themes often linked to the idea of "Heaven." Congrats to RAMPKORV for getting a special mention, I mean PENIS.

Cool Flying People - Another ambient, spoken word piece, though I think the idea is quite creative. The ethereal visuals portrayed in this piece really does work with that of someone off their head staring at clouds. Haha.

Hard to choose this time.

CJthemusicdude - Purgatory
GENIUS.

Usabell - Soaring through Dreamy Skies
Very uplifting feeling. Great ocarina sound + pads!

InvisibleObserver - Artifice and Inquisition
great structure, great sounds! Always hard to believe you make these in one hour; they're always polished and well-thought out. but you need some sort of interesting description to warrant a deviation from the cliche theme variants.

This was a real hard choice, but:

1 - Like you say, a soft and dreamy atmosphere. Fits the theme perfectly.

2 - Definetly went for a different mood from the other entries but I can see what you were going for and I liked it. Also LMAO!

3 - Got kind of retarded by the end but the cheesiness of the whole thing was pretty epic and deserves some credit.

--Round 087--

You guys were amazing as usual, so voting was really though.
Those who know me, also know that I'm voting in regard to composition, production and coherence with the theme.
So, I apologize in advance for not taking random and/or fun entries into consideration in this vote.

1st place - Draconiator:
Heaven might very well sounds like this. ;)
Loved the atmosphere in this one. The combination of lighthearted pads and down to earth percussions/drums, led by a simple and beautiful piano melody.
The right mix of emotion and rhythm, flowing at the right pace, picturing a ballet of clouds in the sky.
A well thought out and nicely produced piece fitting the theme perfectly imho.
Also, and I mean that as a compliment, it's very reminiscent of some of Yuki Kajiura's work.

2nd place - MaliceX:
An heavenly ballad with a subtle jazzy mood and a groovy retro feel that flies you to a special place beyond the clouds.
The style and composition reminds me of Noriko Matsueda's work.
It's very pleasant to the ears, with a wide range of nicely balanced electronic instruments, evenly filling the soundscape.
The track is fairly short, which is probably inherent the nature of the compo itself.
But when the part from 0:39 with the solo comes in, I can't help but want to hear more.
So I'm definitely looking forward to a longer version. ;)

3rd place - Rampkorv:
Admitely, the production isn't the forte of this entry. However, I felt the composition was great.
Reminds me of the early days of console RPGs, when composers had to go past the hardware limitations, and focus on creating simple yet touching melodies.
Looking past the dated FL sounds, we have a moving piece, telling us a story, and with a direction fitting of the theme at the same time.
This is really the kind of song that works well in its current state, despite not having been composed with thousand-dollars-worth VST libraries.

------

siebensus4: Another fitting piece, cleanly mixed too. As far as heaven goes, you can't really go wrong with the choirs/bell/strings/piano-harp combo.
However, I felt it was a little static and maybe too generic overall. Good job nonetheless.

Usabell: An enjoyable, slow paced and atmospheric piece, with a mystic feel to it.
Relaxing indeed, but the arpeggiated synth introduce an element of restlessness into an otherwise peaceful song.
Also, I like the sort of western movie flavor the flute has to it in some instances.

DDRKirbyISQ: An entertaining and quite surprising entry. It has a disturbing vibe to it, that makes you feel uneasy, yet it keeps you wondering just how badass things could get.
The drums and synthbass/trance-pad combo are ace. The work on synth and atmosphere in general is highly commendable.

------

Long time no compo. It was a lot of fun overall.
Reminded me that I need to practice more if I don't want to be left behind.

See y'all next time! ;)

I'm bad at this "voting" thing...

obtuse - I really like this song for reasons I can't describe.

CJ - this man deserves a vote. or two.

rampkorv - RPG style!, though I can't think of any specific RPG this reminds me of. It's another song I really like for reasons I can't describe.

there was also this guy and that guy and those other dudes over there who made awesome entries. good job guys.
