Diotrans - The harmony is very impressive, it's amazing what you can do with just 1 hour.

Level 99 - Great use of time as well, well produced and gets exactly what you're aiming for. A little repetitive at the end but still a good, whole song.

BJKMenu - A great rehash of nightlifes of old. Excellent work, hilarious :D

These were the most well-thought out and developed songs for the night I think. Flik set up some really good atmosphere and mood in his piece and I think its production was extremely good.

Level99 had some really good instrumentals as well, a lot of good work.

I enjoyed Biznut's as well, which was very club but also well done. good work all

diotrans: 1st place, I absolutely love the vocalization, the simplistic guitar and great tune! Great work, wish I could hear more of this song! :P

Escariot: 2nd place, I could not resist this song, I -love- the abrasive synth, and the bass with gated strings provide a great flare to the song. The tune worked well.

Solarflare: 3rd place, I really enjoyed the song, and it reminded me of playing the Donkey Kong Country mine cart levels. The song had completely changed by the end, which kind of surprised me.

I had a really hard voting on this one, I had to narrow it down ~5 times until I decided upon these three, there were many close contenders. Great work everyone!

afterhours: my favorite of the standard dance music tracks which is the most obvious choice for this theme, sounds pretty authentic for being made in an hour

I hate computers: I thought the intro was kind of filler but the rest of it was very good, another interesting approach to this theme a few people took was "this is what solid snake does at night bitch", I could totally see this being in a stealth game. love the percussion in this one

Solarflare: the first half wasn't as good for me but I like the progression that this has, the last part is really good

Level 99's track impressed me the most first time around, it was unexpected. Well performed, well produced I thought. Great tune.

I have spent a lot of time on moonlit stolls, and just64helpin really captured the spirit of the title, which makes me so happy. I love a title that accurately captures the emotion of the song, that is the case here. Great!

I had the hardest time voting for 3rd! I actually have had this written up and changed a few times, its that close for me. I ended up going with Flik's track. I like it, and a big part of it is probably the fact that I love this style of music but it is the hardest for me to create. So there is a jealousy factor here :)

EXCELLENT compo, great entries all around! I was not expecting this level of diversity.

First - Biznut: WOW! That's all I have to say. Totally grooved to this again and again. Do whatever you need to do to fix this up, extend it, and finalize it. ME WANT!
Second - bjkmenu: Richard Cheese is awesome, and so is this song. Lounge-style fit perfectly, and your lyrics were quite appropriate. The song felt full and everything. Kudos!
Third - Escariot: I want to visit this lounge and get my over-40's retro groove on. Could have a little more development and not rely on just those two synths so much, but its definitely near my vision of a nightlife!

Special Mentions:

superjoe30: if you developed any and all these songs more, let me know. The ideas were too scattershot for my taste in nightlife, but you definitely were on to something (maybe just a tad less chiptunesy, lol).

liquidwind: very sexy, but more of a mafia-montage feel here. Maybe a cops-montage, but not so much fun nightlife and whatnot. ADD RAP FOR BONUS-KUN!

Solarflare: really realy close on this one, push the drive and add more powerful drums to make this thing over-the-top. Love the vocal sample and the chord progression is, while similar, much less cheesy than other pop-techno cause of the instruments chosen. Please keep it up!

Flik: you're a cinematic man, bro. Sneaky sneaky, and I really enjoyed this, but I guess I'm just more of a happy-active-nightlife kinda guy. Your samples and mastering are boss, though.

Oinkness: your mixing and mastering has definitely improved since you started OHCing, but if feel like you're falling back on vocals a little bit. That's not necessarily bad, maybe it just differs from my taste in things, but I'd love to hear you trying to use the music sans-vocals to hit up the theme. Just a thought, and this isn't a bad entry, just not my thing bro!

just64helpin: again, another person was really close to winning me with their entry, but it just barely didn't break through. Piano and organ are great!

Halt: glad you entered but you scarred me for life with the Darth-Vader-woman hitting on me, dude. srsly.

slartibartfast: this is the one i think sounds like the beginning of Manoria Cathedral from CT. This feels, to me, more of an epic intense and damaging nightlife, like finding river phoenix outside the viper room. Interesting intstrumentation, and thoroughly enjoyable.

diotrans: <3 <3 <3 I like steak too, oh OH you meant STAKE! Great song, and definitely a night-life, I just wish I didn't know you not only play awesome musics AND kick vampire ass. You're a modern every-woman! I hope you don't intimidate Vinnie too much. Really enjoyed this, even if it wasn't tops-o-the-week in my mind.

theshaggyfreak: damn, you're starting to know what I think of for songs in themes, and you're getting damn close to entering the tops. A bit more elaborate vocals and some more variation would have given this enough to be in top-3, For sure entertained me!

LuketheXJesse: I was really impressed by this, and you branching out quite a bit from what I've come to expect. Decent, not fantastic, but I can see you've been putting the guitar down a little more! Also, I think I look like Billy Mays with my current beard. You can judge in a few weeks.

LuIzA: I wont go too much into it, but for a non-guitar entry it was definitely solid! I just don't think Blade Runner's breaking into a bank is my ideal nightlife. I'll just quote how wonderfully awkward you ended up putting you song description: "sounds like sneeking into someone at night or something". You sneak into PEOPLE at night? You're a sneaker molester, Luiza.

Arcana: Sexxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Come talk to me about making porn music, I think I've learned enough from the FFIV track to show you how to make this even more giggity. Cool concept, needed a little better execution.

darthfett: man, this was close. the first 11 seconds had me on board, then you lost me dude! It got a little too weird for my nightlife. Abstract, it's still a cool song, but that was definitely a tease to what I like and then sort of BAM brick wall.

ProjectSpam: your pianist, organist and drummer sound like they're having all off-timed-from-each-other seizures. I don't want to know what you do at night...

Rama: thou shalt not force FL to do things FL is not designed to do! Next time, Rama, next time...

After I finally realized that these comments are public and I should actually write something useful in them... I didn't even vote in the last OHC because I am lame. So I definitely had to for this one.

As usual, with so many entries it was really hard to decide. I narrowed it down to 4 entries, and basically randomly had to choose one not to vote for.

Oinkness - This was an epic blend of different genres, it reminded me of Stabbing Westward, Depeche Mode, and death metal all at once. Awesome.

Biznut - Excellent trance groove you got going there. This style was actually my first instinct when I saw the theme "nightlife" (though I didn't actually do it obv), and what I envision as being the quintessential music for nightlife.

bjkmenu - This song is so very weird and musically interesting, I really liked it.

Honorable mention:
Flik - I'm sorry, I don't have enough votes .( I thought the production on this was excellent. I don't know how to describe what I like about it other than the overall sound and feeling it evokes, more than any specfic musical technique or anything.
