mv - well developed, traditional JRPG battle music with modern timbres.

diotrans - expanding our supposition of what battle music is.

LuIza - visceral rock, well executed, and fitting to the theme.

TMC for the pretty awesome long track in 3 movements that tells an entire story. mv for his Super HIGH production.

Level99 for the energy. Nice guitar playing.

Also liked: just64helpin and Shael and diotrans too and man there's not enough space to vote!!

Cries of Battle - Good composition and production value, slow orchestral feel captured the seriousness of battle well!

The Battle With the Shelled King - Excellent guitar, great song. Really liked it.

LuIzA - also great, just not as great as above.

NOTE. SHAEL would have been top 3 but It was more of a level song, not a battle song. Killer Track though Shael, I loved it!

amazing rockage from L99 and luiza, took me a long time to put one over the other and it's mostly a pretty trivial detail(the fadeout) that separated them for me. also really hard to decide third, so much good stuff. I love the first song of 3xosc battle, it's like an NES song on drugs, I could see it being in earthbound or something similar, excellent unique style. second part is also good but gets more repetitive, first part is mostly why I voted for it.

it was so difficult to not vote for the auto tuned cat, I still crack up when I hear that so hard

Oinkness-- the MEOWing is the most original and epic thing I've ever heard. I called my gf into the room and we listened to the song while hugging and doing gleeful spins. I signed up for an account with ThaSauce because of this song. Such epic meowing! I didn't know you could do that with the meow.

TheMisterCat-- nice sounds. They are gentle to my eardrums.

Escariot-- he submitted it.

1st: LuIzA...I don't know how she does it. This song was definitely played at least once a day over the last week. It started when I wanted to revise my entry and listened, and it rolled directly over to hers. I caught myself pressing "start over" and pumping the volume. This IS battle music in my head. Angry guitars well played, points of dissonace without destroying the feel, great drums and bass, great breakdown. Fantiastique! 9 out of 10 battle-axes-of-shredding for this song.

2nd: mv made a pretty epic neo-classical/rock anthem-esqe style that played very well to a battle in soul calibur or a lord-of-the-rings game, maybe. He hasn't lost his stuff after all these years, which is wonderful to know. Could have had some more instrumentation fit in there, but overall it was highly enjoyable. Eight out of ten war-horns-of-violence!

3rd: Ah, Shael captured the essence of a double-dragon-meets-megaman track, which is the epitome of battle in 8-bit hindsight. Chirpy, fast-paced, and I can easily listen to that loop for hours while fighting frustrating jumps, spike pits, and punky hobos. 16 out of 21 busted-controllers-of-tv-frustration!

Special Mentions:

InvisibleObserver: This sounds more like something that is setting UP before the battle, establishing the nemesis, but it works very effectively. Made me wanna go back and watch some John Romero movies.

Arcana: Definitely a kind of battle, but seemingly a very removed one. Like a sea-faring RTS in the North Pole. Cool concept.

Oinkness: I don't friggin' know why we fight, but it is usually entertaining. Cat fights are cool. Eating the loser is always satisfying.

TheMisterCat: sooo close to getting in my place-listings dude, I love these compositions but, strung together, I guess it didn't feel very cohesive and flowing. I'm still always impressed with what you come up with in an hour, and I shudder at the thought of how your mind works.

SuperJoe: You better have gotten me some egg rolls, dude.

TheShaggyFreak: Jazz ain't fighting music, and this ain't no obscure JRPG! <3

liquidwind: It's cool, but something about it doesn't sit right with me...dunno, I'm at a loss for words.

bjkmenu: I played this while playing Chrono Trigger. It rocked. Thank you.
