zirc: always a wow in the amount of time

suzu: that's so awesome, nice wah...just fun to listen to; except for the non-changing bassline...it gets old after a little while.

gecko: nice and clean, fun little diddy.

Suzu's had the killer groove. Best overall song musically.

Roe = old school, good bass

GY for being catchy and having arps. Lead is annoying though

Mono's song is pretty well developed for one hour. It actually has melody and shit! Which is more than I can say for my own repetitive piece of crap song. Her song at least goes somewhere. It even has some semblance of an ending. Amazing, no?

RoeTaKa; I have no idea what the hell ThaRoest is supposed to mean, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume it means I'm awesome. This song almost goes somewhere in only 1:12 so I'll give it bonus points for that. The robovoice ending is a cop-out though. But at least you tried! NNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGHHH

I actually couldn't decide at first which song to go with for 3rd place. But in the end, I went with starla's. Her song takes a while to get going, and is lacking in the production area (YOUR DRUMS ARE SHIT) but once it gets going it's actually pretty interesting. Unfortunately, it doesn't stay going for very long. D:

I had some close runners ups so I'll write thems in here. First off, GeckoYamori, zircon, and hemo all made awesome tracks, but they're all too damn short. Zircon especially I could tell probably spent more time on the mastering than on the content. >:| As for Gecko, I'm a sucker for C64 style mod stuff, but it's too short and too repetitive mang! Hemo's track is pretty awesome, sounds like some kind of hobo (one with messy long hair, a grody beard, a UNC beanie, and looks like parappa, anyone?) playing songs for himself and his favorite flock of pidgeons somewhere under an overpass in a downtown metropolis. But again, too short.

Escariot's song isn't bad in composition, it just doesn't sit well with me for some reason. I think it's mostly the bass; to me it sounds like nails on chalkboard %^(. But the weird panning and EQ aren't helping either.

LongeBane, LongeBane, LongeBane... this song just outright makes me feel uncomfortable. LULZ

As for the rest of you, you all suck.

Ramaniscence - sounds like garian
Sadorf - what ramaniscence would sound like if he discovered additive synthesis
Dyne - overcoat minus intention

Did I forget anyone? Oh yeah, me. I automatically win. Cowbell, you see. It kind of does that. On a more serious note though, looking back and re-listening to my track, I dunno wtf I was thinking with the lofi drums and crappy synth pads at the beginning there. Pretty bad, really. It's not bad when the funk guitars kick in, but I wish I had brought up the right channel guitar more. And it's pretty repetitive; I spent so much time on the piece of shit intro that I didn't have time to add any sort of progression whatsoever. So it just kind of stays on C. Forever. Bollocks.

Oh wells though. I had fun. Looking forward to next week!

1. Gecko wrote a very cool melody, along with using the samples effectively. Probably since he gave them to use in the comp, he knew what to do :P.

2. Mono developed alot in her song which made most of it enjoyable, though Im not certain about how well the samples were used from the pack.

3. Suzu write alot into the track, I liked the funk alot and the samples were used well. Repetitiveness made me put this into a lower spot. Good repetitiveness though!

Funny contest. I liked Monobrow's Song the most, it had some good parts.
I liked the chiptunes from Gecko Yamori, but it's not enough to beat Monobrow.
Sadorf used some good samples, but the song is to easy.
Seen some good ones. Good luck next time.

Suzu - Just crazy insane, musically. The definition of funk. As it's been said, that guitar is ridiculous. Slight repetition in the bass and the bass sounds cheap at some points, but for 1:15... ... ...just... crazy.

zircon - The bitchin' synths that one would expected from Andy, using the samplepack. Kudos for proper 3, 3, 3, 3, 2, 2 usage.

GeckoYamori - Probably because I absolutely love maktone's cracktros... Sounds SOOO similar. It makes me smile.
