My top 3:
1) DusK was a clear winner for me. He stuck to the MnP formula but managed to really add something extra to it. I also liked some of the smaller details that he put into it e.g. panning the guitars between each channel at around 0:20.
2) Trism - This stuck out to me because of the slower tempo and the fact that it had quite a different feel than the original / the midi. I think that this different take suits the source very well.
3) Kat - I liked the instrumentation in this. It would have better if the crowd weren't playing throughout the entire track though. It did feel a bit mechanical in places (especially some of the percussion elements) but was overall enjoyable.

Ackatos almost made 3rd in my list. I liked his use of variation between the sections.

Wow, theres a lot of great entries, reallly hard to choose.

1. guitar !!! great sound, and a nice lead guitar.

2. nice atmosphere and sound.

3. It seems like you are having a lot of fun with the song, and it shows in the choices you make, great song.

Like I said, they are all great works, one of the best rounds of MnP I have seen and a great start for the year.

supercoolmike - JUST on the cusp of being MnP up until 1:14 - then it is VERY MnP thereafter, so you're good in my books mang. The nice re-interpretative touches were what propelled you to first, at least in my books. So good work mike!! The production is fairly decent too, barring those "high and mighty" standards OCR imposes lol. I think you are starting to pwn the compo scene here dude!!

DusK - a killer rock cover DusK! Given that it was done in 2 weeks is pretty impressive too, considering you likely had to take a fair amount of takes with the live guitar (and the harmonizations to deal with too =p)- all of the other elements are done well too!

Ackatos - hoo boy, this is some pretty darn good effects, I love the risers and the production/mixing. Good synth and drum choices and the hits are reaaallly sick!!

Honorary Mentions:

Necrox: The leads could've been made a bit louder, the SFX are kinda cool - in fact, the whole mix reminds me of how I remix - kinda like mixing up styles and getting all progressive and stuff, it's really fun to do it this way lol - so yeah this isn't by any means bad, but there is always room for improvement :)

MushroomSword: The harmonies work really well with the synths. The drums are mixed incredibly quietly. Still, the synth choices are really swag and there is a lot of energy being conveyed - if the drums had more oomph this'd be reaally sexy! Good work MushroomSword! Oh and nice first try with synths - I think you'll go far! (probably farther than me =p)

Trism: Very awesome 90's dance remix. I was stuck between you, Ackatos and Mushroomsword for 3rd place - it was a tough pick, but this is still a good remix.

Kat: Interesting crowd choice - it did give it a sorta epic feel. The mix is quite cluttered in the mid to mid-low bands - a lot of the instruments are fighting for that range; so if you're up to it, maybe throw this one in the remix thread and ask for some advice on how to do mixing. It may seem complex at first, but it becomes manageable with practise. Try not to feel too down on yourself Kat, I struggle with this finesse too and have a huge rejection list at OCR, so I know how that goes.

Trism's dance mix reminded me of some of the tunes from X5 - Particularly the Sigma stages. It had a really nice "Megaman" vibe throughout the whole without sounding too much like a typical dance mix. I'd definitely have to vote it for first place.

MushroomSword's arrangement was a close second for me - I liked the overall sound to it, just not quite as much as Dance, Kawanger, Dance!.

supercoolmike's mix was a tough call. On one hand I really loved the arrangement, but I just couldn't stand the percussion. It didn't feel powerful enough. The hi-hat, in particular, stood out too much for my liking. Everything else was pretty solid.

Ackatos - I like this style, it really works with the source. Very catchy. The drums are very good. The end is a bit abrupt.
DusK - Of course some hard guitars also work with this source. I like the way you variated the source a bit.
Kat - That 'live thing' is funny. Maybe the crowd is a bit too loud. The end of the actual song is at an unexpected moment.
MushroomSword - I like the energy of the synths, it should be balanced a bit better with the other stuff in the song, but if that is done it could be amazing.
Necrox - Relaxing start and a nice twist after almost a minute. The kick makes the song a bit too noisy. I like the last part.
Supercoolmike - That 'church' organ is an unexpected style but the combination with that synth and those bells is very nice.
Trism - The song's a bit slow for this genre, maybe speeding it up would have worked even more, but still the song has a nice rhytm.

Voting is pretty hard, I expect many variations in the votes.

Kat - having a crowd cheering changes a lot of things for that song in a good way. it was pretty cool to hear the crowd get more pumped as the song progresses.

Trism - I can hella see kuwanger having a dance battle with X in the boss room, sweat bands and everything. lol

Dusk - glad someone did a metal version. dig the whole song, and the possible solo that could have been around the 2 min mark.

Necrox - The sfx used was pretty interesting on its own. I dig the lil drum solo u had going on also. The only issue I have is that some of the synths used were very faint and could barely hear them to then switch to synths that were the opposite. I'm not saying there too loud, its just the transition between the 2 is grabbing my attention.

MushroomSword - The only thing that grabs my attention is that this song sounds like its being restrained to me, like u didn't want to go a lil crazy with the synths, but thats ok... ur off to a great start with synths so far.

Ackatos - What I said about trism's version can be said here also, but this time its a rave in kuwangers boss room with glowsticks.lol
