[Breath of Fire 1] "Three Dungeons Solo Here Dude" - Hmmm, at the beginning sorta a Nightmare Before Christmas vibe at least to my ears. The next movement after the beginning though. Definitely, can hear some creepiness starting to come in. Faster tempo, and its almost like the piece is breathing. Okay, then drums. Hmmm, odd choice. You know I thought you were gonna go creepier. Though that ending is fairly ominous lol.
Solder With No Heart (Ikana Castle) - Definitely, foreboding and full of those chords that make someone wonder if something bad is gonna happen. Church bells & deep choirs. I mean you've got the sound palette there. I kind wish the mix were a bit wetter with reverb than it is. Overall though, this is definitely in the right mood for sure.
Dreams; NIghtmares - The intro definitely is right. Good delay & reverb on that vocal too. Lovely acoustic guitar. Again the space on the vocal here is excellent. And you pull up with a classic horror trope build, you restrain it and keep it subdued. The interaction of the vocal & violin (viola?) is quite nice too. Ahhh, you foreshadowed the build at the end. I sorta get the idea here, and I kinda dig it. Slowly, losing one's mind.
It's a-me, Psycho! - Oooooooooo, lovely intro! Big, slightly cheesy. Not sure about the snare to the right, but I do dig the rest of this. I've always had a soft spot for what I call the cat lead. Arps are lovely, and normally I'd comment on the distortion, but not gonna lie. I really like it here. This was a fun little one!!
I'm Not Gonna Hurt You I'm Gonna Kill You - The screaming & distortion FX after the Shining bit is legit AF. Pounding like what? Grindcore almost. Pure pounding. Also, that sorta sounds like a freaking elephant trumpeting. At any rate. Pounding along for sure. Shuffling the beat slightly. One thing I find kind of interesting is sort of how when the kick ain't trying to blow your head off and the limiter gets a moment to back off the track sorta leaps back out at you before being pushed back into submission by the limiter. The next section is kind of interesting. I think for something like this, a single high held note in conjunction with the low pad would've been incredibly effective. Also, maybe this is just me, but I think the bell is a bit too loud and fully bodied. And then the drums come back in full swing right up to full scale lol.

HarlemHeat360 - Either the upload did something funny, or you forgot to write an ending. That's the ONLY gripe. Everything else is suuuper solid, atmospheric, emotional and a great adaptation of FF7 "Vincent's Theme". Man Shinra Manor never felt more spooky lol. Those vocalist samples...I must have them hahaha. Nice work HH360!!
APZX - Touch on the cheesy side, but I guess the source material was a bit hammy too haha. Nevertheless, the synths have a life of their own and the production is killer. Love those voice clips and spooky SFX in the background, the 80's toms and rhythmic FX are my favourite parts. The synth chords are also cool. That outtro is especially spoopy. Feels very Castlevania and Howloween (the movie)
Souperion - Did you use different same reverb spaces for all instruments? I think there is some clashing in the spaces between the brass, low strings and choirs. Minor gripe though. Could be the E/Q work instead of the reverb. Otherwise, this is a fairly solid piece. Nice march beat and instrumentation is alright. Good spooky atmosphere going on!
Shido - Well, this has potential, but a lot more could've been done imo. That meowy-cat-like theramin lead was a biiit too cheesy for my taste, but the other synths are killer. Nice drums too. I wish I could tie this entry with 3rd, alas.
TVG - Uh yeah, this one lost me. It's mixed too loud, pretty obnoxious and gets more into SilvaGunner territory, speaking OF, you should really make spoof mixes for them, I think that'd be more up your alley imo.
...HOWEVER...that halfway breakdown was pretty good! Very atmospheric, almost beautiful and hella unsettling...THEN we return to ear-bleed town. At this point, it REALLYdrags on too long, this and other TVG-isms brings this entry wellll below the bottom 3rd vote for me... RIP my earphones. Sorry chief, this ain't it. T_T

[Breath of Fire 1] "Three Dungeons Solo Hero Dude"

APZX: Really delivers on that whimsical spooky vibe. Great synth work as usual, the bustling energy works well with the source and the more lighthearted Halloween spirit.
HoboKa: Happy to help! The atmosphere travels well here, kinda like stepping into a haunted house (maze, or whatever), at first ready for what you perceive to a be a lighthearted spooking, and it just gets worse. Nicely done.
HarlemHeat: Thoroughly chilling, this piece has me questioning life choices. Such lovely unease, permeated by some genuine terror. The abrupt ending seems appropriate for a song for dreams (nightmares), very good work.
Shido: This one made me crack a smile, been a long time since I heard this source. The big, bold up-in-your-face style makes a great amusing spooky feel.
TVG: Not a fan of the voice samples, but that's a small part of the piece. This thing thoroughly bludgeoned me upside the head, the mid section was a welcome respite. Props for going original work, mate.

Wow, from the get go lol. I dunno what I was expecting but it wasn't that sound set. Very initially I was like huh, I just wonder if it will be a regular old trancey mix. But as it went on in the beginning I was like oh wow (again!). For whatever reason the style really fits this song and the harmonic approach. This has the potential for an OCR sub honestly. Like with a little more harmonic personalization? I think it would take it to a different level man. If I were you, I would take this, hammer out some more interesting personal elements in the harmonic and melodic parts (nothing too fancy either) and maybe some eq or something to make it pop and bam. This is great APZX! Please make a sub for this >_<

Are you being spooky again hoboka?! Always spoopin it up haha. I like the simplicity but beauty the strings bring and I am really digging the overall timbre of some of the higher more sparkly synths. I want them! I'm unfamiliar with the source here but I really gotta say you did a great job of taking us through a spooky and odd journey. It's just really darn well put together man. I think the only thing I can complain about is the transition before the last section doesn't hit as hard or go as well as I'd like. Still, I enjoyed it overall. This was a great listen.
Souperion
What's dis? I don't know this at all source wise but I'm interested in what's going on. I have never touched a Zelda game and tracks like this remind me that I should. I think it pedals on a bit too much sometimes but I enjoy it. I like the choir touches too!
Shido
The opening is really nice and I enjoy the timbre of the synths. I think it would do well with some simple panning in some of the melody with the higher synths. You actually do it here and there on a second listen but I think what would have helped is for some of the real high stuff to feel like a piano in the soundstage. Other than that, good job!

>_< what's happening lolol. I kinda enjoy this lofi boominess in the beginning and while it's pretty odd, I think it's effective. Sometimes I feel like I want to be relieved of it but it just kinda keeps going and kicks your ass. Just when you think it is about to give you a break it comes streaking right back in a bam. Oof! We get a nice break in the middle and I'm pretty exhausted. It feels like almost a big cup of cold water. Hmm...maybe a cold glass of vodka on second thought lol. While simple, it's effective and the high vibraphone like synth is beautiful. I want this one too! Oh lord here we go again haha. I think the approach is interesting conceptually I just think we deserve a bit of a sonic break or something to bring it back just a bit more to help us as listeners get through. Still, excellent job and great vision.

After much thinking i think HarlemHeat360 should get the win. From the top yes?
APZX - Interesting organ patch, really sounds like a Trance/Techno version of Toccata and Fugue in D Minor. I've not really heard of the original, but i do like this arrangement. The techno beats are lovely and crisp, and the synth work is powerful and perfect for the club. I don't like how there is a constant abundance of Saw synth for my liking. It makes it a little too...intense is probably the word. I would add more atmospheric sounds in certain parts, to avoid it being too clustered. When you add a lot of saw synths, some of the patches come with a bit of white noise, so it sounds like a wash of white noise for my liking. I don't hate it, and in this case it sounds pretty lovely, it's just when it's overused, it makes the piece 3x more intense, and can get tiring towards the end. The idea was lovely though, and the vocal appearance at the end was really good, makes it a little more scary. Well done!
HoboKa - Ooh this one is more whimsical. I know this one very well. I love the mix of synths and acoustic instrumentation, really makes it scary. Almost like something for a Mickey Mouse game, but with a bit more scary stuff, as if it's a sort of mix (This is a compliment, not a critiscms). The string work is a bit on the blurred side here. I can definately hear the acoustic instrumentation, but not as much as the synths. I don't know, i feel the balance between the electronic instruments and the acoustic instruments could be a little fine tuned. The melody work in this though is super lovely, i love how you've adapted a SNES tune into something almost like a journey or soundscape. Honestly mix wise, i can't really find anything wrong, it's a lovely mix.....until the last part. That's where impurities do begin to form. I'm being honest here, but the drums at the end aren't very well defined, and since you've added a lot more strings and other synth work, it makes a bit muffled. There seems to be a lack of defined space in the instruments, it's as if they're getting squished. However though, i don't just look for negatives, as the idea is awesome, especially in the arrangement, and i do love how you've expanded what is 8 channels into something like 15 channels. You've added a lot of originality here, well done! I picked you for 3rd place.
Souperion - Legend of Zelda les goo. This is the first piece, that is primarily orchestra based. The excitement is there, i love the dynamic range, where we go from haunting and atmospheric, to loud and almost like were in a chase sequence. The melody is really nice, really fits the mood of Halloween. The dynamics are there, but the overall orchestration could be a little fine tuned. As they're moments where the orchestra is all at the front. The strings and woodwinds are usually at the front, brass in the middle, and percussion in the back. I also feel the moments where they're drums are either too in your face, or not in your face enough (For the drums, not the rest). However even with all my critiques, i loved the idea a lot, and the melody work was lovely! Despite my critiques, i actually think you did a wonderful job on the arrangement, so i picked you for 2nd place. Well done!
HarlemHeat360 - That intro alone is incredible. The vocal work is also amazing! Is that Vocaloid!? If so WTF, that's awesome! But if it's a real singer, then it's still awesome. I love the chords in this, and the beautiful guitar work. I really dig the spooky nature of the piece. This is definately haunting and suitable for a horror movie. Now you haven't specified if this is a remix, so this to me is a complete original tune, which i appreciate a lot. This round wasn't limited to just pure MnP pieces, but also you could take a crack at a original piece. The transition into the beat was also exciting, i loved that. Honestly the only critique i could probably think of, if i were to is maybe watch your levels a little towards the end, it was getting quite intense, in terms of layering, and also introduce some kind of ending, as it ends abruptly. If this was on purpose, then i suppose that's fine, but you haven't mentioned about it being on purpose so i don't know. Based on the description i assume it is intentional. All in all, this was extremely lovely, and i love the vocals in this, it's very realistic and beautiful. Nothing else to say, It was enough for me to pick you as winner! Well done!
Shido - That is some intense synthwork. It's almost like a Dubstep arrangement, but with a lot of synthwave like melodies. The arrangement itself is very good, although unfortunately there is some parts of the composition that need a bit of work for my liking. The whole thing is clipping, almost like it's crunchy, but i know it's not really deliberate. I don't like the chords, it's very tinny and sounds like almost pure white noise. I would also introduce dynamics into the party, it feels very consistent from start to finish, especially with the distortion. I mean granted i made a piece of music that is 11 minutes in length, and features a pounding beat for 3 minutes, so i guess i don't have the room to talk, but from more or less a musical standpoint, it's sadly how i feel. The whole track is great though, definately has a lot of potential. Well done!
