Week 7 (90MC007)
Everything was relatively simple/straightforward this week structure wise. A lot of loops and so forth. Good for easy listening and appropriate for the theme. MisaelK gets top billing from me for the lush sound effects and really emphasizing that emptiness and spacious feeling.
TheVideoGamer - I didn't spend much on this, largely because the theme was short notice, nor did i feel like a big complex track would suit it. I created an 8 bar advanced chord sequence serving as the basis for the whole thing. I built the track up around it, which builds up in layers, going into the bass, then kick, then hats, then clap, then melody. It is, mainly building up in a simple minimalism kind of thing.
Arcana - Always nice to hear how things are going. Keeps us informed in your progress!
Vaiaphraim - Very moody, almost horror like sounds. Love the short delay's here they sound great! The melody at the end really brought life to this really, I'd say theme accurate composition. Amazing work man!
Misael.K - The repetition of the melody works amazingly well here, and since you knew what notes to pick, it flows beautifully. It does seem to me, like something Steve Reich might do. The melody towards the end though...is pretty incredible, i love the whistley flutey aspect. I have to say...excellent job here!
Ashka - Why are you so good! Like everything is perfectly balanced, the drums are dynamic, but very simple and soft too, and the reverb usages is...how are you just this talented!
KonamiCommand - I thought i was listening to some J Dilla styled hip-hop at the beginning, but then it turns all glitchy crazy, as if J Dilla was influenced by Warp Records or something lol. Seriously it did not want to sit still, and in an awesome way. I would have loved to voted for this, it's extremely unique and creative, and packed full of vibrant grooves. Still though, excellent on this!
Top 3 - Ashka, Misael.K, Vaiaphraim.
Awesome - Everyone did an awesome Job in this round! Even Arcana's tracks are really starting to come to life.
Needs Work - See above.....
