Breaking The Surface Tension
Misael.K
Misael.K - This piano takes me places. Quite the emotion there. I think this is just super nicely done. Awesome!
Ashka - I don't know how you do it in 90 minutes man, why is this soo funky man....
Vaiaphraim - Loving the electro textures, this was one groovy experience. It kind of balances between dubstep, and maybe...retro funk? Whatever it is, i loved it. Well done!
Jose - Awesome idea man, however sadly i found it a bit too loud for my tastes. I do love the idea though, rave vibes all around....
Starla - Another obligatory how the hell did you do this in 90 minutes, it's just soo good moment.....
Awesome - Misael.K, Ashka, Vaiaphraim, Starla.

Vaiaphraim - love the crush and progression
TheVideoGamer - rad chords!
MisaelK - love the progression, very felt! I feel like the piano VST you're using doesn't do it justice
Jose - cool sample beat!

@Misael.K - I can't find words, wonderfull masterpiece
@ashka - nice intro, smooth beats, 2:11 I could imagine some brake from bass and leads solo, but still I enjoy that, I like it
@Vaiaphraim - I think the bassline could be louder for me, second half is nice I like that concept
@me - spend too much time on samples, so i made guitar melody in 1min :/ , I like beginning, may bass, accidentally I found good plugin to use... but it suck and melody was awful
@ starla - I love how smooth is it, may beats could have reverb or could be louder idk (I understand it is not a point of compo like this, to have clear song)

Misael.K's piano piece really struck me; hard to believe that it was a live recording with only a few edits. Actually.... it would be even harder to believe that it was NOT a live recording, since the subtle variations in tempo really added a great touch. A nice fit for the theme, too, since water tends to not flow at a constant speed, yet generally flows in the same direction ^_^
It's very inspirational for me, since I'm more used to constantly shifting sounds, swapping out instruments, FX here and there... when a piano alone can do so much already.
What I liked about starla's 'trial' are her signature vocal harmonies in contrast to the rather minimalistic drums. Even if the lyrics don't have too many words as a whole, I'm still not sure, if I fully understood the message behind :) I really enjoyed the dynamics of the mix, but I find the snare hit was a bit too loud, maybe.
Jose had a nice buildup, from very quiet and calm, up to very intense towards the end. The slightly detuned(?) raindrop samples very a great addition, I think. (The slurps, too!). I loved the delay on the lead, but the bass felt like it needed more support. Maybe a snare, or something to give the beat a bit more structure, something the bass could "talk to"... The slurps were hitting the limiter a bit too hard, I think. Did I mention that the water drops were great?
TVG added a lot of "untz" to rapid arps and fast melodies. I do think that the drum beat tied together the multiple project fragments quite well, but I felt that the continuous onslaught of kicks made my ears tire a bit after 6 mins or so. (I'm not used to listening to that kind of music for an extended period of time, so my judgment might be controversial...) The SC was really intense, sometimes it felt as if the drums SCed each other - or it was the limiter going crazy :P The claps felt a bit erratic for me, probably because I didn't "get" the pattern, but I liked the bouncyness of the off-beat accents a lot!
Time for some self-criticism^^ Vaiaphraim seems like he kinda ignored the theme, but I'm sure he had the best intentions (at least the title references to water)... The drum triplets would have probably sounded better, if they were tied to the grid, rather than eyeballed. Despite the different instruments and processing, the mix felt a bit shallow (hehe, get it? shallow.) The pads were too loud almost always and the only somewhat interesting part was the start of the melody, which was never really going anywhere, and instead copy pasted a few times. Another thing Vaia should do more would be to add interesting drum fills, and sidechain the bass a bit more. Maybe if less time was spent routing FX in circles, twisting all the knobs at the same time which nobody can even really hear, more time would have been available to make the track interesting with a complete melody, maybe even with a harmony voicing on top.
Nice compo, folks! Looking forward to the next one :)

misael - have to say as good as this was to begin with it also grew on me the most with repeated listening, excellent composition
ashka - funky, lots of interesting ideas here. especially with the chords I really dig the bending and the owowowow type thing
starla - the floaty triplet feel works well and the quiet hat oscillating around the stereo field adds to this feeling, chord choice is on point as always and the vinyl noise is wonderful, just needs more

Starla's had a really great vibe to it. The vocals were very pretty, but were mixed super quiet for some reason.
Really liked the vibe on Ashka's song. Had some nice energy but was pretty chill too.
