Trism's epic guitar remix is shadowed by Dex's, but it's still awesome.

Dex's additional orchestral elements really helped seal the deal for me too. It's kinda unfair to look at only the production value, but Dex kinda blew us out of the water on this one, soooo, I'm rolling with that.

TheVideoGamer - Some 90's goodness there, real swag breakbeat mix. The vocal samples are interesting... Still, I think they fit the genre.

Planarian Hugger - Not to shabby. The first third is really good. Maybe someone else will appreciate this more than me. There is a lot of potential here.

A good selection of entries in this one! That's quite uncommon to see. After snooping around, i think Hoboka is my choice to win. Let's take it from the top!

Trism - My man, i know you put in some effort, because the guitars sound amazing, and they work really well with the more MIDI drums. Really the guitar is the selling point, and the reason i love your take, however i'm afraid i can only comment on the guitars, because that's the only instruments we really hear. If i was to judge this on tone and technique, then this is a clear winner in that regard. Solo was on point too, so it really shows how much i love that distorted guitar tone. But it's nested on top of really out-of-time drums, which seem to enjoy living life in the background, and that's why i have issues with it. The guitar is the only thing it has going for it, and the drums need a bit of work, to blend both in time, and smoothly. Don't take that as a bad thing though, you seriously made one absolute kick-ass guitar solo and rhythm guitar section.

Hoboka - The reason i picked you, was because the sound choices....were pretty much excellent. That choir is a godsend, and brought a whole new life to the track, and the use of the organ and strings also brought a lot of atmosphere to the party. If i heard this in some kind of movie or something, i wouldn't be able to tell if it was a remix or not, it's that good and convincing. If i had to point out some flaws, the one that springs to mind, is more of a tidy up. Clean it up in some areas, both mix wise and maybe in the drums, and we have one fantastic track. Still though i still love it regardless, enough for you to pick you as the winner, so well done! Daam that choir is incredible....

Dex - I prefer yours over Trism's, because it isn't just guitar and drums, it's actually a wide variety of sounds, from strings to modulated guitars. Every sound brought a lot of interesting ideas to the party, and i do love how it flows together nicely. However though, yours falls behind a bit, because the mix is soooo loud. Like there were moments, it started clipping, especially when the brass comes in. Also consider including breaks, i got a bit lethargic towards the end, but apart from that, the sounds were great, and compared to Trism's you had a more nice dynamic palette, and better timing in the drums. Don't take that as a bad thing, you did a good job!

PlanarianHugger - I really got into the sounds here. The pad was nice, and the array of synth effects really gave it something. Also compared to the original, yours is more brimming with atmosphere and nice soothing qualities, elevating it as a ambient track than a orchestral piece. This is great, but i had some problems. Mainly in the excessive use of the mid's. There was a lot of mid-range happening, so it made the pad too hollow, and distorted as a result. I love the sounds used, it could be mixed a bit better. Still though, structure is on point, as you keep it from becoming repetitive or stale. Point being, this was a lovely effort, i enjoyed this! Well done!

I didn't listen to any of the original sources. I just listened to the remixes.
TVG - Nice selection of sounds, good drops/transitions, good hype parts. What's not to like here? The ending was a little rough though, tbh.
Trism - Good energy. Interesting to make it all guitars/bass/drums until the very end. Mix is lacking, but I'm sure you know that. I feel like the bass is the main thing muddying it up. Drums need to hit the crash cymbal after the roll at 0:17 instead of going straight to the hi hat.
hoboka - I thought the percussion was good early on. Pretty epic and intense overall. I doubt a real choir could sustain those notes so long!
PH - Nice. Makes me think of Undertale. The plucks at 1:12 are nice. Hi hat could use some more variation in velocity or round robins. Good pattern variation. I wouldn't hit the snare and hi hat at the same time in the first pattern.

I previously had a load of feedback for everyone, but I cannot be arsed to write it all again. Here's the cliffnotes.

TheVideoGamer - This track belongs on the original WipeOut soundtrack, so 90's it hurts. Second verse is a copy of the first, but that kinda fits the genre so can't complain too much.

hoboka - Sounds like the intro track to an epic metal album, very cool. Choir sounds a bit stiff and mechanical, though the male parts near the end are great.

Dex - Your lead and drums sound great, however the rhythm feels quite mechanical. You've mixed the strings and horns well so they compliment the track instead of dominating them. This would have rated higher, however unless I'm mistaken this track is essentially a MIDI-rip, which loses you points.

PlanarianHugger - A simplistic yet rather emotional track, I like how the song builds gradually, adding in leads and drums eventually. Drums are very flat, but as you said you've not finished mixing it yet.
