Much as I love synthwave, I liked Normallyretro's retro approach a bit better. Cool interpretations both! Sorry about forgetting about this round...got pretty busy with life last few weeks hah.

TheVideoGamer had a really good 80's vibe going and a better ending, but I gotta hand it to Normallyretro for the killer arps and the better mix.

Good to see some new names in the contest.

Normallyretro: The song feels very calm, which I like. The kick is a bit dominating too much at some points in the start, but after the start the song is in a good balance.
TheVideoGamer - Very energetic start, liked the stuff in the background. Song could use a bit more variation in sampling (like you did at the end), I like the parts you did.

Synth Wave is pleasant and the sound is very appropriate for the tune. It doesn't deviate *that* much from the original, but there are some nice touches. Super saw lead was a little lifeless in the longer notes, but sounded great in the 'oscillating' section 1:36 onwards. The half-time beat after 1:12 was pretty neat. I felt the sound palette stayed quite samey throughout and would have welcomed some more variation, for instance by the time we hit 3:36 it's very refreshing, but that comes pretty far into the track.

Splashed Wavy I appreciated a lot for thoroughly reworking the source material to something new, while staying very much recognizable. The lead and background arp are quite tinny sounding and that way the overall soundscape is a bit unbalanced. I really like the chill section/transition around 1:44. When the bass returns with the background.. pad.. thing at 2:00, it's a very cool mood. The ending is very sudden.
