Diotrans :The vox totally works and the harmonies sold me. Texture is not too sparse or too cluttered. The intro could have been a bit more leading and the string line is exposed and brittle sounding (maybe adding some natural harmonics with really low velocities could help this out).

Binweasel: Nice intro and use of sweep chords in the guitar/harpsichord. The tempo seems appropriate. The arpeggios at 1:05 onward have this odd out of time kilter to them which you might want to go back and look at. You also might want to look at the echo on some of your synth instruments. It's a bit off putting to have so many things slightly off time in texture this thick.

Level99: Sounds rough and garagebandish in a good indie DIY type of way. Nothing is terribly obscured, but the texture seems a tad static for the first half, and in something like this, you don't want ears to be awash in the grainy texture sameyness for too long.

Liquidwind: Good beginning and strong atmosphere. At 2:55 the instrument that comes in sound totally out of tune and is a bad match for the mood you've set up to this point. I would suggest replacing it with something a little less piercing. After 2:55 you should watch your overall chords a little more closely, accidental dissonance seems to sneak in quite a bit.

Just64helpin: Everything sounds a bit muddy and muffled to me. The piano sounds especially muted. Work a bit on balancing your highs and mids reasonably, since they sound very clustered.

Seto: Good production; but the entire intro seems to be completely unnecessary to the statement of the main theme. You actually have a huge drop in energy level when it is time to present the main theme. As for everything else: try a more creative lead sound or at least a simpler one.

Bundeslang - This PRC156 voter is Bundeslang
Liquidwind - I really like the samples you used, the song is relaxing. It starts slow, but I like that for this one. It's not variating much and it's long the same. Good end.
Chickenwarlord - Fun to see this song again. Interesting sampling. The song is short but strong. Funny end.
Diotrans - I like the vocals you used, they fit excellent with the samples from the song. I like the built up from the song. The song is variating in a nice way.
Just64helpin - Good start. I like the secion around 1:00, great sampling here. There's enough variation in the samples. The ending is a bit too long.
Level99 - Different song from the others for sure. Really good to see some rock in the contest as well. The guitar is good and fits perfect with the drums. Little abrupt ending
Setokaibarocket - Trancy song. The song starts a little slow and is long the same in the begin. At 1:46 the song really starts with good samples. From this point, the song really variates good. The end is long.
Binweasel - The start is interesting. It's a slow song, but nice. I like the part around 2:30. The last part is 'the same' as the first. Short but good end.
Evktalo - The drums are a little too loud in the part around 1:00. The samples are funny but not variating much during the song. The ending fits good for this song.

This PRC is a very nice mix from some different styles. Good work and I hope to see you all back next season.

Apologies if any of this comes off as harsh at all, but I'm trying to narrow down my choices since this was a free-for-all. I honestly enjoyed all of the songs very much and you all should be proud of what you've made!

Binweasel: I can't tell if that's supposed to be a clavi or a guitar on the left-pan, but despite being strummed properly, the sample is mediocre so it sounds very fakey. The strings in the back variate little-to-none in terms of velocity. The piano playing is very smooth, but again, the samples are called into question. It still all meshes together in a nice way, and the composition is awesome considering the source. It's taken to a place I never thought, and the piano during the second half is very redeeming (I guess the low notes on your piano-sample just sound more convincing). Arrangement gets an A- from me, execution was the issue here, and unfortunately it ends up bumping this too far down my list. Please redo this one with better samples, cause I can see this being OCR-worthy given enough attention to quality!

Bundeslang: Wow, the intro is definitely....jarring. Kinda cool, little too much in the mids for me though, and the drums are definitely a low point. This feels pretty early on in a song's life-cycle. There needs to be more dynamics in the song, and I keep coming back wanting to get into it, but the drums, above all else, kill this for me. Switch it up with some other samples, let the song breathe a bit, and please please please do something more with that rhythm stuff. PLEASE! *cries on the inside*

Chickenwarlord: Don't ask me why I like this, but this really grabs me a little, despite its faults. The hard-pan left synth is a tad on the annoying side though, but the interplay with the other hard-pan synth on the right balances it out some of the time. Close but just missed the cigar here by a few inches. Thanks for being awesome, regardless of the song. Keep those chickens in their places, man! They might rise up and force you off your throne, warlord.

diotrans: Wow, cool usage of the left-mic/right-pickup on your guitar (am I right about that? I think that's what it sounds like). Very chill interpretation, and as usual, your vocals are top-notch. Great mixing, and good choice of supporting instrumentation. Highly-enjoyable, but it did have some hiccups. None of them ever knocked me out of the listening zone, though, so kudos.

evktalo: Didn't see this coming. Nice use of stereo spreading in your mix, especially with the percussion. The lead never gets boring but never really breaks loose enough though. Sounds like a song from a modern opium den, for some reason. It grew on me after a few listens, too! There's a lot of subtlety here.

just64helpin: WOW! Besides a little distortion on your piano (I don't know if that was intentional or not), this is frigging EPIC. The backing strings are fantastic, and for some reason the oboe also suffers from a little distortion around the midrange though. VOICES, superbly reinforcing. Some of your best work to date, dude. Keep this up!

Me: LERN 2 MOAR GEETARZ!

liquidwind:....speechless. This is...gorgeous. Honestly, if you had asked me, I would have offered to given you some acoustic playing on this to replace the samples you used, even though they are definitely adequate, just because this song is incredibly beautiful. Not without it's flaws, this is without-a-doubt my favorite song from this PRC. Really REALLY reminds me of Ulrich Schnauss, so soothing and deep with paddy-goodness. Great effects everywhere, this is "laying in the sun with your lady on a gorgeous spring day" music. My only drawback is the drums could have been a bit more dynamic and used better, but that would have simply made the icing on the cake all the sweeter. Congrats to you for this incredible music, because even the sour notes of the harmonica-ish synth don't bother me that the rest is so pretty. *loops song* If you can, please email me a higher-bitrate version of this for my personal collection, I'd really appreciate that!

setokaibarocket: While nothing is bad about this song, it's just a bit generic-techno for my taste. Everything you did was adquate, but nothing really stood out to me. Nice choice of leads and arps, mixing is good, but especially with electronica pieces, it's hard to become a standout song. Good driving music to be sure, and I defiitely dig the vibe, just didn't blow me over. Looking forward to whatever you do next, though. *lightswitchraves*

Some quick comments:

Level99 - I was joking when I said I was gonna automatically give this first place, but yeah. This would pretty much be the soundtrack of Little Nemo: HD Remix. :p

Binweasel - This is one of more interesting interpretations I've heard. The source is definitely there, but the remix evokes a feel that's quite distinct from the original.

diotrans - It was nice to hear how this developed since the earlier version posted in OHC059. The remix is quite chill compared to the source material in the YouTube link.

Overall, it was great to see so many familiar entrants participating in this round, as well as a few new ones.

just64 - This is awesome, I think it's the first time I've heard an arrangement that you did in more than an hour ,) It's great to hear something of yours that is more fleshed out. I think this is a great remix in a very different style than the original, and the arrangement sounds very full and lush. I would just say that there are some parts here and there where there was some dissonance in the chords. I think if you fixed that up you should sub this!

l99 - What a fun little rock arrangement, I was disappointed when it ended though! Great guitar playing, and the production sounds pretty good to me. However I think that the parts that use the source sound kind of "cover-y" -- it stays close to the source, and I would have liked to hear either more original parts added to the arrangement or more variation in the melody, etc. Overall a great mix though.

liquidwind - This source is absolutely beautiful, I'd never heard it before so thanks for introducing it to us. ^_^ I liked your mix, but I feel that I didn't hear enough of the source in it for it to really feel like a remix of this song. Also there were some moments of dissonance where I think the chords did not agree. But I still really liked this, there were some very beautiful moments and overall very pleasant to listen to.

Good job everyone!
