I really like the sweet, sweet jazz improve you gave this one, Analoq. It sort of reminds me of a Final Fantasy town theme, but it's very sweet, nonetheless. I think it would've been better on a real piano, but meh, we work with what we got.

Alright, noob Joystick, your mix is quite good. It doesn't do much outside of the source (which is why it is second to Analoq's remix), but the orchestration is very well done (I appreciate the use of all your instruments, there - most noobs would put in some strings and call it an 'orchestration'...). The quality of the sound isn't the greatest (in particular, the volume is incredibly low on this one), but that's a minor setback. I liked it, nonetheless :).

No vote for me ;)

Gario's chill-but-not-chill entry develops the source material aptly along with competent production. A good all-around contribution, which I suppose we can expect from Gario.

joystick brings a debut entry to ORC and I'm sure we all welcome him/her with open limbs. It comes second to Gario's because it doesn't feel as complete but what is offered is a nice but typical orchestral take on the original. Hope to see you in future ORCs/PRCs.

I had to crank it up a bit, but I liked joystick's the most.

Gario's track made me fall in love with the vibe, too. :p

analoq's idea was pretty much what I was gonna do, so I give him 3rd out of spite. :D

Gario - Very nice flute, I'm a fan of that. There is not much in it (like you said), but you used everyting very nice.
Analoq - It's a nice piano playing. The first part is very good. Some parts aren't exellent, but I like the idea.
Joystick - Interesting song. It's short, but it has some good things going on. The samples you used are okay. The song's a bit slow.

Three entries doesn't mean voting is easy.

Thank you all for remixing my track, ranking these tracks was no easy feat.

Joystick

Considering this was your first remix this wasn't bad. In fact it was very good :P It had some variation in the backing, altho the melody was the same and there wasn't any original sections.

However I did enjoy it, don't be discouraged that I placed you third either, you were up against some stiff competition.

Analoq

Placing you second was a tough choice for me, but I felt that your remix had changed the source too much. I had to listen very closely to hear the source at all and I wrote it :P
Close inspection did reveal sections that I recognized, but if I'd listened to it normally with the original I would have thought the two were separate tracks entirely.

I did like what you did to my track, and it was certainly creative, which is why I placed you second, but it was changed too much for my liking personally, however, I really like it - anything 80's always hits the mark with me and I like what you did with the melody :P

Gario:

This for me was my fav, I liked the style a lot, the source was obvious and it had variations and original sections. I think there was too much reverb on the vibs tho - the notes bleeded into each other.

Thank you to you three for remixing my track I enjoyed listening to them all.

ORC 1. 1. 9... I'll never forget it.
I'll remember that compo forever.... incidentaly enough, not for the source.
Sadly, my computer died while rendering my finished remix.
I was eager to post it, as it was showcasing all that I'd learned since I began remixing.
Oh well, may it rest in peace in the laptop graveyard.

Anyway, time to vote! (with the shitty old desktop, yay!)

1st-Analoq: The solo impro was quite enjoyable, nice, calm & relaxing.
Totally contrasting with the source in terms of genre, but all for the better.
I luv how it sounds like a good ol' jrpg theme song from the 16-32 bits era.
Beautiful piece.

2nd-Gario: I really appreciated the original approach on this one.
Very cool song, with a lovely vibraphone and cool drums.
Only drawback is the ear-piercing high-freq range.
Kind of annoying considering it works against the creative job you've done on the song.
But I guess it makes do. ;p

3rd-Joystick: Hold on... ok, I raised the volume to MAX, since I couldn't hear anything.
Now let's listen. "now listening, please wait..."
Nice epic rendition actually, a bit GM sounding at times.
The instruments are decently mixed, (hell I still can't make an orchestra sounding that homogenous yet).
The last ending drums sounded really cheap unfortunately.
Good for a first try, keep it up... but please raise the volume next time! ;)

See y'all next round!
...which I still won't be able to enter, sadly :(

Gario definitely gets first place, joystick gets second (despite the fact that the volume was way too low - might want to fix that), and analoq gets third (it pains me to do that, because I usually think analoq does the best - it's just that this song seems like an introduction for something else that never happens).
