It was about mood and space. obScene nailed something unusual.

coloradoweeks your lyrics are AMAZING

yours too Lyra, for totally different reasons.

Garian's appealed to me for the really catchy melodies and the piano/chiptune mix.

I didn't submit this time, because i was away during this compo, so that means there's nothing to reply to. But if you want to hear what i did with this theme the day after this aired, then go to the sharing-off and scroll up. It might have been buried by now, but just search for Cliff Peaks, the title name, that might work. Anyways to the voting!

Lyra_183 - Happy Birthday! I know i might be a little late, but Christmas means a lot of stuff happening. This is some lovely singing, so nice to hear some coherent melodies in this, really shows how far you've come from having first heard you. I'm feeling it, this week, so i'll give you this. Well done!

DarkShadow - You know it will be the biggest shock of the century the day you come out with an ambient track haha. I like how you've sequenced arps out of kickdrums, that's different. I do like the sort of lo-fi melodies in this, it's very dope! And it actually has a build-up and a drop. Yeah it gets pretty....dissonant towards the end, but it was honestly super cool, and surprisingly well mixed! Best DarkShadow entry to date, good job!

Garian - Ooh these are some pretty arps! Super chill and uplifting, i love this. I love the harp sounds, a combination of lo-fi and realism. The whole thing is very pretty, and has a very nice airy melody. It's not a long track, but man the progression i could really listen for hours, it's lovely. Ending implies more EDM stuff, but that doesn't come. Nonetheless i loved this, definately voting worthy, awesome work!

Koekepan - No 6 minutes? Are you...ok man lol. This is some very dope beats! It sounds like a launchpad jam. The vocal effects really add something to this, makes it very RnB inspired. Pads are definately needed, otherwise i feel this is a bit too...flat. Saying that there is potential, maybe less reliance on drums, and a lot more emphasis on atmosphere and texture could really make this for me. Add more airy vibes to the whole thing. I still like it don't get me wrong, it just feels like were missing something, it feels way to thin. Still great stuff man, good job!

DDRKirby(ISQ) - DDR chords are back! Man i love that key modulation in the 2nd one. I can't even tell what chords you are using, it's soo...unique and i love it. Despite the unusual note choices, it's so consonant, definately zoning out to this. Extremely chill, and really fitting to the theme. At first i was surprised by the lack of drums, but you subverted my expectations. I was not expecting that reverb usage on the snare, holy cow i love it. Very glitchy B-Section whole thing is a cosmic journey, whilst having that intense drum work. This was beyond sick, i loved it. In fact so lovely i picked it for the top spot! Incredible work!

obScene - Eerie piano, really setting the tone. Definately cinematic and film score worthy. Loving those effects, you really just add the right amount of effects to all your pieces, especially in the reverb, Wasn't expecting such a dark turn, but honestly i love it. The percussion in this one is crazy, really has a groove to it, despite it being cinematic. Whole thing was awesome, so awesome it was 2nd! Incredible work!

NickC - A few orchestral type pieces so far, really feeling a Celtic aspect to this one, which is the last thing i was expecting from you. The choir is sick, but i do sense a delay, probably from it's attack. Whole thing in my opinion could do with a bit more finesse, it sounds a little...compressed and clustered. Especially with some of the brass. I didn't notice your signature dissonant notes in this, which is definately new (It's probably there, and i just didn't notice it). Yeah i'm torn on this one, it's amazing in one breath, but has so much potential in another. In the end, i gave it a good job rating. Still though, extremely enjoyable to listen to, so good job!

Coloradoweeks - Stock only? Damn that is a challenge, especially since i don't know a single sound here. Granted i use FL studio, so maybe this is not applicable here. The vocal work is exceptionally fire here wow! And the chords are sick too! You even managed to mix it soo well! How can you make stock plugins sound soo good! I swear i need to catch up, you guys are way too good for me. So good i placed it third (This also factors in theme relevancy)! Amazing work

Misael.K - Great guitar riffs, that seem to be slightly inspired by Crystal Waters lol. The guitar riffs in this are especially dirty, holy hell did you level up? Even the drums are insanely hard hitting, it's not something i would expect from you. There is mix potential here, as the melody is very quiet compared to the rest. However the riffs were insanely good all things considered. It ends super abruptly, i feel like there's more to explore here. Lots more good than bad though, so this is definately a awesome ranking! Awesome work!

Arcana - Wow this party is insanely short. And that's without my entry lol. Forget orchestral music, there's also a few rock stuff in this. But yours is mixed with EDM. The guitar work is super fire, but short-lived lol. The drums are very weird, in that the EDM drums are super quiet, but the rock drums are not. In the chorus they match up in volume, so it's not the end of the world, but that's when the guitars come full circle. I do feel the vocals in this, whilst lovely, are a bit on the distorted side, which isn't too much at the end, but very noticeable at the beginning. I sense a lot of potential here, it is a lovely idea. So don't be discouraged. Good job!

Top 3 - DDRKirby(ISQ, obScene, Coloradoweeks.

My top 3 also factors in theme accuracy. If that wasn't a concern, Colorado would be much higher. It's hard voting sometimes :/

These 2 also deserve a spot on the list:

Garian (Such a shame this can't be on, i love the progression in this!)

Misael.K
