Mobile voting, let’s go! I apologise if this isn’t up my usual standard, voting on mobile is way harder than you think lol (And it makes me more rife to spelling mistakes)

I don’t need to reply to comments because I didn’t partake in this one, as I’m away for 2 weeks. If you want to hear something I made based of the theme and a 1hr 30 minute time limit, then head on over to the ThaSauce discord under the sharing of channel. Thanks all! Now on to the entries!

Lyra_183 - You are cool like that ;) Great singing, lots of cool melodies in this. Great dynamic range! Lots of potential, keep it up! Good job!

cotmm68030 - 6 minute returns! This time with some cool Mongolian throat singing! But not in the traditional sense, but in a kind of effect that blends super well with the sweet textural pads. It’s got a very cold space feel to the sound, although we’re in a Steampunk kind of aesthetic with the theme. The vocals are so blended with the pads, it sounds more like an instrument than full on lyrics lol. As a track it’s quite captivating, and really has a nice semi chill feel to it. Honestly this is great stuff, so good I put it on the third spot! Amazing work!

DarkShadow - This sounds like morse code lol. Very short and stabby synths this week. Lots of that atonal chords in this, and some cool robot warping noises. Although not my thing to be honest, I respect how cool it sounds, it’s a pretty dope idea. Good job!

Koekepan - 30 seconds of what is some oldschool drum machine and synth? It’s very lo-fi and it fades in and out. I mean good on you for entering, but there’s literally nothing here for me to dissect lol. Apologises if I’m a bit brash, but that’s how it is. Good job though!

DDRKirby(ISQ) - Great intro, really nice fade into the drop. That is a lovely bass sound, and a nice blend of retro chiptune and a modern synthwave approach. It’s got a really cool blend of DDR styles, great syncopation. That melody is also satisfying too. Nothing to say, it’s just another well done track from you, with just such great production. Definitely voting worthy, awesome work!

Dex - Rawk musik as we know and love from you. This time with the addition of some cool percussive sounds in what sounds like a glass bottle. That’s also a nice violin melody, it goes well with the sick rock vibes provided in the backing. It’s definitely Steampunk but mostly in the punk department lol. Nothing else to say, this was sick, so good it was the 2nd pick for the list. Amazing work!

Garian - Welp, another 30 second submission. I know it can be hard making music in a short period of time, but this is very hard to make a comment at such a extremely short length. The chords and arps remind me of Stranger Things, and the vocal samples were weird lol. Still I admire the effort you put in, the idea is dope! Good job!

BJKMenu - Lots of cool drum changes, very loose fitting, but has a sort of live industrial feel. You did a good job at masking the original melody, it sounded like something new lol. By masking I mean disguising. I had to relisten to actually get the joke haha. Not so much a mix problem. It’s kind of funny this, because it’s not taking itself seriously, even for such a dark theme. As a track, it’s a lot of fun sure, but I feel more could be expanded to make it more fleshed out, because I feel the hi-hat abuse was funny, then a little granting. Basically I see this as a humorous troll (Which sounds bad, but it’s not), and not so much representative of the theme. Still though, this was a ton of fun, and I loved your creativity. Good job!

NickC - Nice deep pads, lots of cool granular textures. Sounds like a horn from a ship. Loving the slowly creeping metallic bells. Sounds like it’s trying to simulate a Kalimba. Lots of intense brass stuff, if I wasn’t aware of what you were trying to do, I could argue it’s a bit muffled because of the overreliance of brass, but the way its arranged completely changes all of my initial opinions. It’s quite a cool piece, that semi epic. I do feel we could do a continuous buildup type thing, where you add strings, then some drums, then some synths. This is not a negative, this is more of a suggestion. The track still sounds very cool as it is, and its definitely representative of the theme. Awesome work!

obScene - Nice deep drum work here. lots of cool rhythmical ideas on various instruments, seems to be an obScene staple. Really digging the chiptune elements in this piece, its like a 8-bit character was conducting an orchestra lol. The track is quite dramatic, which is expected for someone like you. i really like the ostinatos in this also, the whole track isn’t very melody orientated, but its quite hummable, and it has quite the groove i must say. Honestly this is very theme fitting, and is just lovely throughout. So good I ended up putting on the top spot, the most theme fitting of them all. Incredible work!

THEGREATDESTROYER22 - Sick drum work, very techno sounding even though this is more of an industrial type beat. The track has some really great textures i’m too! Loving the changes in this, it’s quite dynamic in the drums. There is a creepy melody that is extremely far back, it’s almost invisible lol. I think you could bring that up a bit, maybe make it a bit more creepy. The mixing is really good though, and the basslines are nice and juicy. the staccato synth is a bit overused personally, but the beauty of music is that no opinion is ever the same. Someone will like it, if others don’t. Honestly it has a lot of potential, that beat is very tight! Good job!

Coloradoweeks - Wow that is not the groove I was expecting from you. Damn it’s very funky, and has such a tight snappy reverbed snare. Already got me head booping. Sick bassline too. Lovely buildups in this, you’re adding new stuff ever few bars, expanding from a tight beat, into a nice pad wash, with some lovely chords. Not gonna comment on the singing, it’s always incredible. The mixing is really good in this, although the vocals are quite….crunchy. In all honesty, you sometimes mix the vocals pretty loud, and in this case. It was kind of noticeable. But that is usually the only complaint I have, and it tends to not ruin the track. Everything else was awesome, so you’re still getting the Awesome rating regardless. Awesome work!

Arcana - Hey would you look at that, you both start in the same key on the same chord! Quite sus lol. Unlike other tracks from you, immediately we are greeted with your vocals. I dig the bassline in this, and the nice mixing. Your vocals and drums are at a lovely volume. Kick is a little front and centre, but that’s a very nitpicky comment. Vocals are soaked in a really nice delay it’s great. The drum drop, was satisfying. I was thinking why is it suddenly hi-passed, but then I heard that beat, and was like “oh, wow!”. Honestly this presently surprised me. I was not expecting this direction, and truthfully I love it. The whole this was actually beautifully mixed, and is actually worthy of a vote. Even the vocals are in tune with the melody and chords. Nicely done man! Awesome work!

Misael.K - Great guitar work, almost reminds me a bit of Glam rock? It’s got a very distinctive guitar sound, that truthfully was the last thing I was expecting from you. The vocal sound is also pretty dope, although the mixing of the vocals is a little blurry. However I try and take in account the time limit as much as possible. The second section (Or what I might call the drop) was also awesome too, lovely switch, closer to a breakbeat. Alas though, not even 2 seconds into the section, you fade the piece out. Effectively making it way too short. The piece ends as it begins as I would say. If the track was longer, that would be awesome, but again this is OHC, not OWC lol. Although the vocal mixing and the length were highlighted as potential for expansion, I’m still giving you this, because everything else was a positive and outweighed any major negatives. It was just a great piece, that has room for more. Well done!

JH Sounds - Strings is not often in a JH piece, so I’m all ears for it. Great piano riffs, it reminds me of a cross between Paul McCartney and Elton John. It’s got quite the drum groove, and a really nice chord progression. It’s just one of those simple bit yet very effective light enjoyable pieces (That’s a good thing by the way). Loved this, well done!

Top 3 - obScene, Dex, cotmm68030.

DDRKirby(ISQ) (So sad this wasn’t on, it’s great!)

NickC

Coloradoweeks (I might have been swayed to put this on the voting, if the vocals weren’t as harsh volume wise. Everything else was lovely!)
